      Conservatives often use words that mean the exact opposite of what they're actually saying. It makes me think they don't actually know the meanings of words, which doesn't actually surprise me given their attitudes on education.

      @@brassman7599~ I have noticed this heavily as of late in the comment sections across platforms. So much so that almost seems like there’s a movement to confuse the meanings of words by using them incorrectly. What’s more likely is that they’re trying to adopt our commonly used words and terminology in an attempt to sound smarter, but failing to understand their meaning before using them- which speaks volumes to their apparent refusal to look up ANYTHING AT ALL in order to better understand it. It seems that to the right wing the internet is a place to misinform and argue instead of a place to learn. We do know they’ve learned one thing though, the definition of their favorite word- “weaponization”.

      Ive been there too. Was raised in a religious family. Had to slowly and painstakingly unlearn the toxicities and indoctrination of organized religion and start studying philosophy and ethics and to question everything.

      This is child abuse . My American neighbours in Kenya were Baptists. We were about 10/11 years old . I remember them saying that l was going to hell because I was non practising C of E . ( even if I had been practising it would still have been my destination). I can remember feeling a mild contempt and sadness . What a way to be brought up.

    This is creating an epistemology that starts with `God` as an axiom and it's absurd. The very question :How do I know anything" starts with "I." Without that, you have nothing. So to start with "God" is completely irrational.

    "This is circular" dude at one point every belief set is circular, in science the whole circular block is called a paradigma, and the only reason you change paradigma is epistemic cost... But there's no epistemic cost in metaphysics, so the sole question is just "does it contradict itself ?".

    We can’t assume that just because some have bad arguments that the outcome is automatically wrong.
    Look for yourself, read frank tureks apologetics and other arguments. But just because this argument is bad doesnt make it logical to assume all argumebts for god are illogical.

    Logically everything that exists in the universe is contingent and has a beginning because there will not be present out of an infinite regression, therefore there must be something or a (Necessary Existence) outside this contingent set that is eternal and independent with a will to bring everything into existence...
    There is no other way.

      Because at some point it chooses not to preform that action of Creation.
      Second, I did not suggest that this being is just an immaterial entity, and I think it’s logically absurd to try to identify it’s assets with our limited empirical knowledge.
      Moreover, This being also must be all powerful and all knowing to be able to create such a beautiful design.
      Eventually, what I can assure you is that it meets every description of God, specially our Muslim description of God Almighty.

      @@timeones I have no idea what the "nothing from nothing" argument is, as the only people claiming that everything came from nothing are the theists. They claim that their creator made the entirety of the universe out of nothing.
      I do believe there is an eternal metaphysical ground for the entire universe, but any suggestion that this thing is conscious is an idea that both has no evidence and makes no sense at all.

Every scientific theory still needs an ultimate cause to propel events. I'm not defending religion at this point. I'm an simply stating that even in philosophical terms everything needs a cause. And that cause needs purpose and intelligence. So even if we live in a simulation, there's an ultimate creator of said simulation. If u keep going back in "time" at some point there's an ultimate cause with a purpose hence a creator of some sort. The idea that perfection happens at random without an intelligent cause ia illogical.
