Hope you're well. I'm exploring GRC and have two quick questions:
      1. Is it necessary to establish a foundation in red or blue teaming before diving into GRC?
      2. Beyond ISO 27001, NIST, and GDPR, what resources do you recommend for GRC? Currently enrolled in ISC2 CC, Aron Lange course, and learning security frameworks. What can I do next or start so I can build my foundation?
      Appreciate your insights,

@@AliHassan-wx7ze You don’t need to master the red and blue teams. As a GRC, you will work with these teams.
For what to do next, look at references from these documents. You may be surprised on where it leads and aligns with your goals.

I believe the Coursera GRC is part of a university program that needs to be completed to get certified. I need to conduct further investigation. I watched one of your short videos, and it was very informative. Thank you once again for all that you do.

12:54 Reading is power. In a time when there is a lack of reading amongst our peers, just by taking the steps to read and apply will empower you to go much farther. Also, every weekday Simply Cyber hosts an in-depth discussion about current cybersecurity issues. You don’t have to watch every day but the community is great!

Thanks for your video. I have 34 years in IT and 5 years in it security officially. I have just been voluntold to be GRC manager and i am struggling with what the official expectations will likely be. I already do vul. mgmt. and reporting, risk assessment, policies and procedures, etc. and have worked closely with internal and external auditors, run project, controlled budgets and all other things that come with 34 years of it support and management. I guess my concern is what this formalization should look like? Any suggestions. P.S. just came out of left field and have not had one on one with the CISO to discuss yet but do not want to go in blind.

First you have to figure out what you want to do?
Red - penetration testing red teaming, research and development
Blue - incident response, SOC, network security,
Purple - both red and blue + vulnerability management
Compliance - SOX, PCI, FedRAMP, Hitech, HIPAA, cloud
Management - people, processes, and technology management

Hey! good comment below to help you out. I would also say to determine what skills you already have, and match that to what type of job you would like to do and start your journey from there. You can take free training to determine if cybersecurity is for you, and this can also help you get familiar with the industry. Have you subscribed to my newsletter? I share alot of resources in there on how you can transition into this field.
