I was raised on a farm, but when I married.. we lived in a city.. I was so used to being busy with Farm things to do constantly, that when a customer mentioned she was learning copperplate calligraphy and showed me an example, I signed up for the class.. I thoroughly enjoyed it... but life/a family got in the way and I have been away from it for over 40 years..I saw a TH-cam video of someone writing copperplate.. so now I am back into it just for the relaxation and satisfaction in seeing my improvements and the beauty of the script.
I very much enjoyed hearing of your journey and your voice..

My journey started when i started to write my book, kind of a phisolophical journal, but writed with a fountain pen, and that pen have so much emotional importance now, not like a normal cheap ballpoint pen, that you just trow it away after is stopping writing. Reusing the same instrument, writing my life, my frustrations, everything, made me wish to buy one more pen, and one more, now i have pleny of pens, and there i start my calligraphy journey, and you are currently my teacher, it's easy to understand from you, easy to learn, and i find very peacefully, very soultouching to just watch your video, and trying to copy your style, because i find it soo inspirational. I'm thinking to get into cooperplate, but i'd still want to get somewhere firstly with fountain pens.

Your the best. Like others I bought the Spencerian books inspired from your videos, they are by far the best to learn cursive. I learned to stick with one author as was becoming confused with the different variations of cursive. I have practiced frequently through the year and as you said the improvement is satisfying and a pleasant distraction. I am loving buying fountain pens , cases, e.t.c plus experimenting with dip pens and crafting my own Christmas cards this year. Keep on creating videos, you an inspiration (and the best on TH-cam)

Thank you :). I also like practicing and sticking to just 1 source of material for each style. I hope you will have amazing handwritten cards for your beloved this Christmas :)

So wonderful to hear your voice! Thank you for this video, it definitely gives me encouragement. I have always been embarrassed by my poor handwriting and decided a few months ago to improve it. Your videos have been so inspiring and so helpful. I practice along with you and my handwriting is definitely improving. I also bought the Spencerian books and have been working through them and I have bought a few fountain pens. Maybe I will reward myself with the Pilot Custom 23 when I reach some milestone in my journey. Thank you so much for your videos, they have given me so much enjoyment and encouragement.

You have inspired me, Thank you so much. I especially loved your comment about the 'process' of handwriting being so valuable: at least as important as the meaning of the words themselves: a spiritual experience (or what psychologists call 'flow'). Perhaps this is how the Medieval monks felt when they copied and illustrated their sacred texts. With lots of love from the United Kingdom.

Hello, I am so glad that I found your channel. I really enjoy your videos. This one especially was nice. It was good to hear your story told by you. I am new to the fountain pen world. I found that I love to write. Especially with a fountain pen. But until now I have just been writing what ever comes to mind. Some good, most was nonsense. I feel that working on handwriting skills. Will be a good direction to go for me thank you.

For years, I have tried picking up calligraphy.
Mostly just hoping I could learn, but didn’t really know where to start.
It wasn’t until about two years ago that I actually learned about calligraphy, but not the actual practice of it.
Seeing your video, 2-years since, that it makes me realize I could have been practicing all along.
You have just inspired me to pick up my pen/ paper and start practicing.
Do you have a recommended set of steps or list of things to work on to go from zero ability, to at least having a discernibly beautiful ability (ie certain things to practice, and then which style you recommend, and tools)?
Any amount of information you can share is greatly appreciated (the more the better).
    Thanks for your video!

Beautiful work, lovely channel, i have been following your work for a while because it is beautiful and informative and helpful.
I too learnt calligraphy as a child and kept using it whenever needed, but never thought to take it up professionally.
Have always enjoyed doing it, since last few months i wanted to pursue what i really enjoy... So started learning different scripts from TH-cam and other professional teachers... Have learnt 2-3 styles... Want to keep continuing!
I felt like connecting you... And after hearing your journey now, as you said Calligraphy is like meditation... I truly want to keep exploring!
I have started my channel where i too want to share my work...i am just a beginner, but would love to have your feedback about my work!
    Thanks so much👍👌🙌
