Hi Gita Ma’m. Thanks. The sambar looks very tasty. I have millet idli batter today, I am going to make the same sambar for tomorrow. Your sari color and little flowers looks very good on you. I couldn’t keep my eyes off it while watching the video. And your idli batter is thick just like my mom’s. Thanks
Hello Githaji I would like to suggest one thing.sambar for idli doesn't require so many vegetables. It would taste great if it is more watery. Sorry to say this. Tasty as always
Thanks Leela. You're right. In fact I have made it watery too. For Rice, it would be thicker. As far as vegetables go, I think it is optional. I would have loved to use Sambar onions in the recipe. ,but cooking is all about getting the right taste with available ingredients. In fact it can be made with just onions tomatoes and green chilli. Just a matter of choice.
I made this for my family they loved it amma .. awesomeness to fullest...I tried multiple recipies of sambhar and all of them failed .. and I lost hope of making a good Sambhar... This was successful,🙏🙏🙏🙏

Would you please let me know how to cook the tuar dal to that consistency? How much water do we need to add and how long do we cook it for in the pressure cooker before adding it to the sambar? Do we also need to add salt to the tuar dal while cooking?
For 1/3 cup tuvar dal ,add 1 cup water. Add a pinch of haldi and pressure cook for 3 whistles.Do not add salt to the dal while cooking . Always add it to the sambar.
