Great work. Plus here's a couple of tips from a (now old and) very experienced wood worker. 1. Add a 90 degree cross piece underneath and at the beginning of your track board. Always quicker. 2. Leave your track board sticking out the other side of your fence for clamping (hand spring clamps are enough) as well as a 45 degree guide (cutting with saw at 45 degrees). 3. Trim the abrasive paper a little further, even micro granules will dull your blade. I've added these refinements after decades of using this kind of system. Also, an 8 foot version for large panel board can be helpful too. I've usually kept both in the workshop.
For goodness sake, use a push stick when using that circular saw! It takes a small lapse of concentration or a moments slip to lose fingers/thumb (@27secs). I have been working in wood for well over sixty years and the most precious and valuable item in the workshop is yourself. Keep safe and thank you for posting.
You left me speechless man! That is a super effective tool with no effort and you made it in less than 1:30 minute !! If you will come to Italy I'll offer you a coffee
i just built one. Never so easy for me to using a circular saw. Before I was scared to use it and afraid to cut my finger and never can made it straight cut. Now I did. Thank u so much for this design easy and simple. As female, I love it.
I got a piece of wood flooring with the rubber backing on it, been saving for I don't know what. Will see if it works tomorrow. Nice idea, thanks for your time.
Great idea and I made mine today. Instead of sandpaper, I put small drops of clear silicone on the bottom and it works great. I also bring two spring clamps with me. I plan to keep it in my truck to use to break down plywood I buy at Lowes in the parking lot. Cool idea.
That's a very interesting idea with the sandpaper; I'll have to try it. I have used a variation of this for 40 years. I use 1/4" fir plywood for the base (no need to go thicker), and a narrow strip of the same 1/4" ply for the guide. I never clamp the guide; because the good side of the wood is face down for a clean cut, I use two 3/4" nails to secure the guide, which when done I loosen, leaving the small nails in the guide for next time. Works very well.
Hi,thanks for the comment.dabblign with making my own guide for my Makita circular saw as well.probpem with this is I'm concerned the 100grit sandpaper might scuff the material I am working on....what's your thoughts?
I would use the rubber mesh that you can buy at Home Depot and other places. It's more secure and will not cause any damage. And it comes in various colors.
The BEST ideas are usually the SIMPLE ones - WELL DONE! Subscribed. Sadece güzel açık bir huş ağacı kullanmakla kalmayacak, aynı zamanda kontrplağın su geçirmez bir yapıştırıcıya sahip olmasını sağlayacağım, çünkü bazı yerler çok nemli bir havadır.
Since a Makita track guide costs as much as the circular saw, it is obvious they don't like it. I always wonder how the hell a strip of extruded aluminium with two silicone straps glued on it, would justify the price?
Оригинально! А я заказал лезер, чтобы линию направления рисовал, а надо-то было всего лишь фанерку отпилить. Отличная идея сделать направляющую, автор молодец!
When I saw the window in the suggestion margin, I thought - oh no, not another one! I was WRONG! Simple and effective , great idea and uncomplicated video. Thanks for both. 👍🏼🤓
My 2 issues with this build are: 1) how to ensure the first cut is straight without a table saw? 2) Putting sandpaper on the underside might scuff the workpiece you're trying to cut.
In the USA, Germany, France, etc., tools and anything in general is very cheap, but in 75% of other countries everything is very expensive, so we have to learn how to make things adapted.
I guess you could use masking tape but OMG that would be a pain in the ass 🙄😂😂 I spread a thin layer of silicone on my guide... I used a fine-notched spreader & it worked great.. 😎👍☘🍺

@@Richardz I thought so to, but as per the original comment at 0:27 he runs his hand through the table saw when making the jig.
The simplest design I've seen yet works great, great idea to use a sandpaper backing to provide grip, well done.

The simplicity is genius 😂👍🏽
Очень понравился столик 4 в 1ом. Из всех просмотренных на ютуб самый простой и доступный в изготовлении.
Best and simplest one I’ve seen so far.
Thanks
This guy is the Einstein of DIY.
That’s pretty darn clever!
I think I would still use just a spring pinch clamp on the ends to keep it from moving though.
To be safe.
It's amazing how stupidly simple ideas there are to make work easier. :-))
Me abriste la mente... ahora si me dan ganas de aprender a trabajar la madera luego de ver tus vídeos. Sos un genio
I have seen lots of DIY saw guides but this is simplest and easiest of them.
The sandpaper on the bottom is an awesome idea.
I got a piece of wood flooring with the rubber backing on it, been saving for I don't know what. Will see if it works tomorrow. Nice idea, thanks for your time.
Brilliant! As Muadibe mentioned, "Simple is always the most practical". I'm going to make one this weekend. Thank you for sharing this idea!

That is quite simply genius! Simple but brilliant. Thanks for sharing the tip.
Amazing simplicity in this!!! Love watching you work!!
What a brilliant and simple idea. Thank you.
Превосходно! Быстро! И конструктивно!
Ah, nothing like the ol K.I.S.S. principles without all the "bells and whistles" (and B.S.)! Nice job!

@@conradpaul6100 I thought that too. Maybe some higher grit automotive sandpaper might be better? 300+ grit?

Haha, finally I find it fast and easy to make it, GREAT
Simple yet genius! Great idea buddy.
I like you because you do simple tools to help us. Thanks a lot for share with us.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Ustam merhaba. Çok pratik ve kullanışlı bir klavuz olmuş. Ellerine sağlık.
Teşekkürler Engin Bey
The most simple. The best Idea!!!!!!

Just nice. I have Never thought about Sand Papier 👍👍👍👍😉
Call me paranoid, but I would still clamp it. Especially on more expensive wood. Love the idea and I can use it for other things. Thanks
That is so simple yet so useful and something a person with my skill level can make.. Thanks for the great idea
It's nice and inspiring how far you've come, seeing where you are today and where you started. Congratulations.
Another "now why didn't I think of that?" moment.👍👍👍👍👍
Very good idea for a framer, quick, simple cheap and don't have to mess around with a chalk line.
Simple and easy are the best! Thank your for sharing.
Fantastically simple 👌 thank you
Anti-slip circular saw guide would have been more descriptive. Anyway it's a great idea.
Excellent jig! Keep it simple....... Thank you.
Everyone stop making circular saw guide videos... this is the best of the best.
Ty for making a video that doesn't over complicate. Exactly what I was looking for!
Excellent. The big brands won't like it though.
they will probably copy it, as usual..
Since a Makita track guide costs as much as the circular saw, it is obvious they don't like it. I always wonder how the hell a strip of extruded aluminium with two silicone straps glued on it, would justify the price?
This is really good for rough work. Not so much for finish or fine work. I really like this device. I'll make a couple of them with different grits.
best and simplest hack for this problem i’ve seen.
De los mejores de youtube. Simples, sencillos, pero muy funcionales sus creaciones.
Great idea !!! Outstanding work. Thank you for sharing.

In my country this would be called stupidly simple😁 great work mate your head is working unbelievably straight forward👍👍
I'm making that, thank you, right to the point!
Best, and simplest one, I've seen yet!!
Simple is always the most practical.
I like this idea. It’s simple yet effective. And cheap.
Thanks for not dragging this out. Good, short video.
Brilliant in its simplicity!
Отлично, мои поздравления за работу и ваши учения, привет из Аргентины.
Skateboard grip tape would be easier to get. Basically sand paper but more durable
Very simple and efficient. We'll done my friend
Awesome tip, thanks for sharing
Great idea!! I could use a guide at times, but the cost verses the use was tough. I will jump on your idea and make myself one. Thanks for the video.
Absolutely brilliant!.. so easy. Glad I saw this before spending ages making one of the other, fancier designs :-))
Excellent and the simplest way to explain it!
Great idea,nice
So simple but great, thanks going to build one.
Very good video, simple and direct
And for those of you that don't want to put scratches in the piece you retain... replace the sandpaper with neoprene strip from ebay.
Or rubber mat.
very simple good idea Allah bless u
non skid... good plan. about 80 grit?
Thank you. I’m going to make my own instead of buying.
Very good idea... I will surely make one... Self clamping with Sandpaper
Don’t use sand paper. Use a bicycle inner tube cut in strips. Glue two or three strips lengthwise on the bottom of the guide.
Agreed the sandpaper would scratch the surface you are working on. Any sort of thin rubber material to line the base with would be better imo.
I give this Idea a 8.5 / 10
Simplicity at is finest.
No entiendo el idioma pero el video, es muy claro, y la guía facil, de hacer. Muy práctico. Felicitaciones a su autor !
Saludos desde Colombia
Outstanding work. I'm lost for words
Love the idea of using sandpaper as a gripper.. Nice one
True diy Great job man.
Other easy and practical project. Tomorrow I'll make mine. Thanks
What size is the wood you used ?
Lol I will have to modify mine after seeing this, great idea 😹🤗
My 2 issues with this build are: 1) how to ensure the first cut is straight without a table saw? 2) Putting sandpaper on the underside might scuff the workpiece you're trying to cut.
i was thinking the same thing. i think i'll try it with silicone mats instead
you can use factory edge or just buy an square metal tube as reference
@@amandawilcox3226 Huh? You need a rigid base. and a rigid edge. Don't do something dumb that'll get you hurt.
@@HBSuccessThey meant silicone mats instead of sandpaper.
Just brilliant! Have u seen the price of tracksaws!

It’s true! Very good answer.
The best of the best !!
(Less is more)
Excellent idea! Thanks!
Simple and useful. Best regards!
Amazingly simple and effective!
That's good but what if you want to cut a pre finished door you couldn't lay that on top of it
Right you are - but how many times are you cutting finished wood?
@@tjk1009 he said: pre finished

Спасибо. Хорошая идея по использования наждачной бумаги.
Simple and attractive, Thanks.
very good video.
Man! Why didn't I think of that? Great job.
Good one. Hopefully that wood stays true and doesn't warp or bow. Does cedar stay straight?
Wow! That's Great Idea.
Thank you. Great idea !! You made my day.
Is the sandpaper really maaking it a handfree job ? Would rubber be a better choice ?
rubber tend to slip when you have dust on the surface
the sandpaper pinches the material and stay put
WHAAAAAT??? AWESOME!! Thanks for sharing!!
I made something similar to this but not as good, gonna have to make some adjustments now thanks!
