Also enjoyed this thoroughly. Though I'm a big fan of the 1990s iteration of the Cuban volleyball team, I'm also a big fan of Motoko and Kumi. This is also pre-Regla Torres who was 15 at this time. Wonderful to see the Cubans playing multiple positions, even backrow hits from time to time from positions 1 and 6 before the rigid positioning they assumed almost all throughout the 90s -- I think Mireya can play any position, even middle as her vertical is way, way up. This is also pre-Marlenis Costa who has taken over Ortiz very well. The Cuban setters are so versatile in 6-2 play. This is the first match I saw where Lilia Izquierdo even hits from position 5.
Mireya is alright but there were other players on that Cuban team that were just as dynamic if not better than Luis. Regla Bell was a more complete player (play front and backrow). Magaly Carvajal can play Middle and the Pins.
According to Eugenio George, he said he never saw any other female volleyball player more spectacular than Mireya Luis. I heard this from his own mouth in an interview. As a Cuban who grew up in Cuba watching all these ladies and the previous team play, I can absolutely say that there has never been anyone better than Mireya Luis (as a spiker) in the history of female volleyball. The only player on that team who was never sent to the bench in any major competition because she was underperforming was Mireya.

A Copa do Mundo é um campeonato da FIVB jogado de 2 em 2 anos, depois passou para 4 em 4 anos. O campeonato Mundial foi em 1990, na China. Esse de 1991 foi a Copa do Mundo, no Japão.

87年はupしてますが、あまりに一方的な試合でつまらないから公開してません。
86年はルイスが妊娠中にもかかわらず出てて、フルセットまでいった試合ですね。録画してたのですが、ルイスが良くなかったので消してしまいました。今となっては残念です。
日本チームの大林／高橋／藤田＋丸山復帰戦のような試合であったかと思います。
解説が三矢裕子／中田久美で、松本市で開催だったと、、
キューバはカルバハル、イスキエルド、カルデロンの日本デビュー戦であった。
バレー史上、、、自分にとっては思い出に残る第一戦で、今思うとなんで消してしまったのか、、、公開しております。
