But at the rate in which crucial positions like Selydowe go down now, things might develop much quicker. The fall of Selydowe will create another big vector of attack for the Russians towards Pokrovsk and further accellerate the developments in the south AND create a base from which the russians can advance far westwards. Loosing Selydowe isn´t just another strategic desaster for Ukraine, but the fact, that it apparently happens so quickly, demonstrates, how drained their defensive capabilities must be.
The big question is whether the Ukrainians even still have the men and equipment to defend the area around Pokrovsk. If not, then there is no point in defending Pokrovsk itself. Because the Russians will simply envelop the city.

Some of the sources you don`t seem to follow anymore, established more captured grounds in the South - South West of Selidovo, almost an operational encirclement, along with supposed withdrawal orders from Kiev. Suryiakmaps and some of the dodgy Russian mappers have been reporting advances along the railroad southwest of selydove which would explain a retreat in the city itself. I don’t think suriyakmaps is completely reliable but I do think they get some real intel at times so by not acknowledging their mapping you’re missing out on some of the little intel that’s publicly available

The Russians have tended to do even better in the winter. There is great mobility on the frozen ground and there is less cover in the fields for the Ukrainians. The Russians also have the advantage in artillery and drones now.
