    Nice informative video! The CM4 board is a game changer! Is there a firewall section for stand along access?

    What is the likelyhood that corporations are able to identify the device and disable the USBs because of it? What does it show up as, a mouse/keyobard? Dont they usually disable this?

    idk why its called a kvm, a kvm switches between different devices. This is IPMI (or iLO or DRAC as other manufactures call it.) Remove out of bands management.

    • @softwareshinobi

      i thought the same. it can't support multiple devices. not a kvm.

      Basically your right. Also It's not an integrated solution and requires individual connection cables for "keyboard video mouse" control.

    There are some cheap CM4 compatible boards, like Bigtreetech CB1. It would be interesting to try them with the PiKVM4.

    handy video - the thing I cannot see described is how to transfer files from the remote server to my connected laptop ?? I'm trying to ditch anydesk and PIKVM looks good solution ... if I can understand how to pull files off the linux box it would be connected to ??

    really great video. just some constructive feedback... the new transitions between chapters are a bit distracting and they break the flow of you talking. If you want somewhere to denote a new section in video form (more than just the timeline), just add some text overlay on the video while you continue on so the audio and video doesn't break up as you switch sections. Just my $0.02. Thanks for the video!

    I have a question about the V4 Plus
    I want to access (DVR) and playback CCTV video remotely.

  • @jerrygaguru
    @jerrygaguru ปีที่แล้ว

    FYI: TeamViewer has had file transfer for most Enviromental and every feature the PIKVM it does and support almost all OS’s, But there are time when a product this is nice to have and I am glad to see it. One side note, VNC is free and has for been 20 years and work on almost anything you just have to know how to forward the ports through the router to the Internet, to get access to it off site, which can be challenging in some environments.

    • @jerrygaguru
      @jerrygaguru ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GeorgeWashingtonLaserMusket I totally agree in the context of this video they were using for VNC as a selling point, and I knew the anybody that had the intelligence to make this work on the Internet should understand the security issues involved with doing that. I am a total fan of TeamViewer paid version, because so far it is the only remote company that will supply PCI and HIPAA compliance documentation required for a lot of remote support people. But once the companies use it internally for remote support because it is free and so easy to use on an internal network but it never goes out to the Internet. Secure encrypted connection is always the recommended when connecting outside even though this product is neat. It doesn’t mean a lot of the security requirements yet. Well, if you’re using Hamachi VPN Encrypted software for any of the three networks configuration and supported for remote network VNC is a great product for that environment for support And a small remote VPN office network just cost $40.00 a year. But I personally would use TeamViewer just because of the security.

    • @ve2mrxB
      @ve2mrxB ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm working for the PiKVM team and I can reassure you that v4 supports Full HD at 60Hz out of the box. BIOS doesn't always use full resolution, so PiKVM will use the signal as provided, but if you configure the computer to generate 1920x1080@60Hz, it with capture it.

      hahahahahah. i know what you've got going on. smart.
      i'm setting the exact same situation up for somebody right now. we are trying to avoid using tailscale b/c it's hosted. you can pull it off with ssh tunnels and forwarding.
      now we are working on speed right now. we always test for a user on a diff continent. b/c that's the use cases. our mileage has varied.
      if you don't want to use tailscale, you'll need to run a cloud vps server and run two sets of tunnels. one from pi to server. another from 3rd party to server.
      after it's much stable, i'll be updating so that the 3rd person can vpn in, instead of tunnelling.
      but to answer your question: yes.
