Pretty voice, but this is not right for her voice. This is a Full Lyric Soprano with a sizeable sound being pushed into the wrong territory. The voice is not "Pezante" (heavy) enough for Wagner.
And your exactly where you were 20 hours ago!
Is this a screaming fest? Since when has Brunnhilde become a a role for lyric soprano?
Since when was Brünnhilde a soubrette rôle? LMFAO!
If Anna Netrebko can sing Lady Macbeth, La Barkmin can do it with Brünnhilde. That's opera mainstream nowadays: awful regietheather and wrong voices ruining repertoires
@@andresfRC I agree
@@andresfRC sadly, this is true. These are the main reasons why opera these days bores and needs a change.
Ugh.
Stage seems small - not an extra square meter to spare.
And to think one man had that and so much more in his head.
6 Harps. Just as Wagner demanded. Amazing.
Oh my goodness---there's a part where she was straining at the high part and was actually losing intonation. It seems to me she is a lyrical soprano, she really shouldn't be trying to force her voice to have that much volume as she will wind up damaging her voice over the long term. It's almost as if she's screaming. The orchestra though seems to be doing a great job and I enjoy Jaap Van Zweden's modern interpretation of the music.
yes a good ear you have.. a sizeable full lyric soprano voice- which has been pushed into this rep is what I hear (from the recording)... plus her mouth .. has a lot of tension that is not natural when singing this. Pretty voice she has. Honestly the voice is not "Pezante" enough for Wagner. The voice may have the volume for Wagner, but the weight (based on the recording) is not there.
Gun-Brit Barkmin wonderfully battled with the massive orchestra in this challenging final scene. A remarkably intense and emotional performance.
I had to liten again and her singing is just HORRIBLE!!! :(((

Ich war in beiden Konzerten (18. und 21. 01.2018) und es war einfach . . .
fantastisch
ma tante cose stonate
Barkmin, no no no......!! :((
# lol
@@TwinsunianT And the screaming to take the high notes, of pitch here and there not to mention the wobble?
Barkmin is not a hochdramatischer soprano. Who told her that?
This is really a forced lyric trying to be something else.
Too much for your voice dear.
@@TwinsunianT Controlled?? It was awful!!!
Golden memories. I studied with Barkmin at the same music university. She had a huge self-confidence and really heavy diva attitude and of course she made a career, guiding her to major opera houses like Wien or Zürich for few performances in the character fach. Of course this doesn't matched with her wish for the big prima donna title roles and so it was a question of time that she took chance to sing stuff like Brünnhilde and Isolde.
You hear the pushed up result but on the other side it needs someone to offer these jobs to her.
Many singers came and gone by singing to heavy stuff for a better career. It happens all the time.
I have to smile by watching the videos with her as Salome in concert, costumed like an old silent film diva in self-presentation. It seems to be necessary.
@@Sir.Larselot And ? She is no Brünnhilde , no Isolde.
@@tristanberger8500 , that´s what i have written. So we seem to agree.
Porque este Director escribió el nombre del genio Wagn' er.Es la primera vez en muchos años.,Dr.Leiva
One more "wanna be- heroic soprano" in the completely wrong role. The shoes are by far too huge for her but if they want to cast her with this ... The bill is an out of tune scream festival in the top.
Heavens, she doesn't get one note right. What a disaster. You really call that - off key! :(
That's odd ... I have exactly the opposite opinion.
Thank you for your comment! Finally someone who had the the courage to say the truth!!
@@lugwrench9832 Ha.. what are you hearing lol
Plain horrible
For me personally, this is the top notch performance! Bravo!! ✔
Beyond bad
@@draganvidic2039shut up
Prestacións, en conjunt, impressionants.
Wow, that was such a fantastic performance!! So glad that I was able to attend all 4 parts of the Ring Cycle!
😂😂😂 # SCHLECHT
Gun-Brit Barkmin performs the Immolation scene with so empathy that is very rarely seen. Fascinating!
Horrible ”singing”
@@draganvidic2039 What do I mean by that?
In another words:
Who don't understand opera better shut up!
meh.
Absululy fantastic !
Lululu? BAD.
Brunehilde est vraiment bien ! Elle chante toutes les notes et tient la charge sans s'étrangler.
Brava !
FANTASTIC
Fantastic how bad it is
einfach genial!!!!!!!!!!!
Great singing and playing by the soprano and orchestra!
I love concert performances of the Ring, wish we see more of it. Gets rid of the ridiculous costumes and you let you hear the singing and see the orchestra. And what a massive orchestra Wagner uses. Love the playing, do long for the days where Vienna or Dresden had that special Wagner sound with the monstrous horns. Nowadays everyone plays so well.
