Stephanie, I have very similar wrought iron pieces in my garden. One small suggestion, if this is available in your area: Don’t paint them; have them POWDER COATED in gloss white (or the color of your choice). So sad to see Amaury's parents leaving. They are a wonderful addition to Lalande! The downstairs loo is gorgeous! Stephanie, you are truly blessed to have two amazing master craftsmen in Selmar and Amaury to start and finish the downstairs loo. As well as the great teamwork of Maria and Sabina, Philippe's thoughtful reorganization of Nick's apartment and of course Nati, to keep it all together. Glad to see Nick, Marie and Antoine back at Lalande!

Actually the “moon-shaped” dishes are called bone dishes. They were originally used to put bones from fish or poultry, etc in. Today we seldom have bones food prepared with bones-in. They are beautiful.
In The Netherlands we also had meat- and fishbone dishes in this shape, but they were made of stainless steel and you could clip them on the side of your plate. My mother had a set.
Not sure if I am correct, but I think this size might be bone dishes and the larger crescents are salad dishes. These are smaller than the salad crescents I have seen.
I found this excerpt. The book is on free view Google books and the reference is page 59. Abby Buchanan Longstreet, Dinners, Ceremonious and Unceremonious and the Modern Methods of Serving Them . F.A. Stokes & Brother, 1890 These plates were originally used to keep hot and cold foods separate but were then used to accommodate bones. [S]alad follows at once, and is also self-helped [i.e. self-served] to a cold, small, round, or crescent-shaped dish set at the left of, and close to, the hot one. This crescent is called a bone dish in America and, until recently, has been used for the small purpose that its name suggests, while its actual reason for being is, that cold and hot food may be eaten at the same time without injury to the flavour of either. Crescents, if of fine quality and pretty colour, are as ornamental as they are convenient.
Those little half moon shaped side dishes: I grew up in Germany and had an education in classic haute cuisine. Those little side dishes are meant for the debris of shell courses and always to the upper left of the dinner plate. Snail shells, oyster shells, shrimp shells, fish bones. Everything was eaten with the appropriate knifes and forks. The debris would be placed on the side dish with the knife and fork. Never the fingers! Except oysters which were eaten by hand, asparagus as well, but then little matching finger bowls were added to the side of the plate, lower left under the debris dish, with a slice of lemon to cut the grease on the fingers. Hence the oversized cloth napkins to dry the hands. Of course with the next course the waiter, server, would bring a fresh napkin and remove the used dishes and glasses of that course. A little bit of fine dining history. Which gives me an idea for a gift for Philip :)
Fantastic! A finale to the downstairs loo at last! The arduous task by Selmar of chipping away at all those floor stone slabs makes the whole room timeless and was a tremendous job well done. It is so glamorous and beautiful with Stephanie’s gorgeous wallpaper, the exquisite mirrors and chandelier and a credit to the many hands that worked on it. 👏😍😍
Yes, Selmar worked so diligently and focused on every detail of the original floor covering. They were a pain to move and work on. Congratulations Selmar for perfect results...
I just adore how you manage to make special moments for everything, an afternoon tea in the garden for example, you really know how to create a life worth living and celebrate each moment in style, it teaches me to live in each moment and not dwell on what I do not have. Thank you
Phillip did a lovely job with Marie and Nicks apartment. Even though it is to be made over one day, there is a skill in making a space look good with what you have in the meantime. Phillip has that skill. The row of books, the mantlepiece, the lamp positioning, the little seat by the bar cart....love it!
When Maria first came to the chateau she was so quiet and shy (on camera at least) but as we’ve all gotten to know her better I’ve come to appreciate her so much. What a helpful, talented, and just all around nice person! I have to put in a word of praise for Sabina as well, she’s such a fun and lovely person too. 💜

Oh my gosh! So much to see in one vlog! You're so clever. Firstly Amuary's parents leaving brought tears to my eyes 😢 I only noticed tonight that Amuary's mother and Nati are so much alike! I wish they could stay forever! The downstairs loo.... well, just wow! Well done Amuary, Selmar, Scott man and Stephanie. Philip did a lovely job on making Marie and the elusive Nick's apartment cosy for their return and the girls did an amazing job on all the crockery. Well done to all! 👏👏👏😊
Lovely furniture for the garden! I forgot how awesome the Loo's wallpaper is! Safe trip to your Aunt and Uncle! I know you and your Cousin will miss them terribly!

Love Amaury's to the point one liner: "Yah, It Sucks!" Says it all and cuts the undue emotion while still acknowledging it, so moving forward is now to the fore.
Much done today! Wow! The downstairs loo is AMAZINGLY beautiful. Tears with all of you with your aunt and uncle departing. Hope they come back very soon! The garden furniture is beautiful. Phillip is so thoughtful with getting the apartment ready. So much went on today, Amaury and Selmar's work in the loo is just lovely. Narnia is looking great and love the plans you talked about for it. Antoine sure is happy to be back the Chateau, love their little precious dog too. What a wonderful episode! Thank you for putting the touching moments of Good Byes in with the happy things. Makes me feel like part of the family.🤗 I'm soooo excited about all the improvements happening and going to happen! Especially Nick's apartment! Can hardly wait! I think you will love those hardy charming chairs more when there in their finished area.
The bathroom is wonderful but if I could make two possible suggestions. I owned a decorating company and saw the damage water can do to wallpaper/cabinets/paint. You might want to consider having a clear piece of tempered glass cut to size to protect the paper behind your taps from the splashing water. The screws can be drilled prior to the temper being applied so you can decide where the four screws need to be placed. Also the small wall under the window could possibly benefit from a piece of glass also. The glass in no way detracts from the paper and makes any random water spots easy the clean.
Suggestion for the downstairs loo wood trim around the plumbing: if you can find the right color of blue/teal that blends with the wallpaper to paint that trim, it will minimize the fact that the trim is there, and make the wallpaper feel more like one unbroken line from the ceiling down to the floor next to the loo. I realize you have a lot of white painted trim in the room, and wouldn't change it, but I would sure make an effort to find the right blue to make the other trim disappear for the sake of the linear effect. Here in the states, we have paint stores where they use computer technology to match a color swatch from any item you bring in. Maybe you could fine the right spot in the wallpaper and get the paint custom colored to match. If it doesn't work, you could always go back and paint it white.
I remember that cast iron set!!! At the time I was so sad that you felt they were too expensive, and walked away from them - because I thought, it's EXACTLY the sort of gorgeous unique, antique pieces you need in the future garden project somewhere!! It's the LaLande magic at work yet again - meant to be! Re: Narnia - absolutely set up your forest of fake Christmas trees, AND a lamppost and isn't it the perfect place to put all those crazy stuffed critters, that have accumulated! I adore the idea of putting Wardrobe doors framed out, perhaps over that ancient staff loo that needs to be tidied up anyway. Does it have a window? Put in forest wallpaper, and star style lighting - the space is already there! Somewhere in Narnia might be a great place to pop that tiny little telephone table out of Nick and Marie's apartment- a place to park, while you are trying on shoes or selecting an outfit - that table side is great for laying out items for consideration. ALSO - I think it's going to be so fun to see - in the future - the transformation of Nick/Marie/Antoine's apartment. I love that they are going to collaborate with you, Stephanie and Phillip, in the renovation of their unit. If the vision of the downstairs loo is anything to go by, they have made a wise decision to take you on as design consultants! That loo is GORGEOUS.
I got all chocked up seeing your aunt and uncle leave! Amory has the sweetest parents in the world, I swear, and it warms my heart, you all seem to be so happy in each others company across the generations. I will miss them in the vlogs... 💖
I was always told they were for bones from food while eating but I love the idea of relish or demi salad. Times change and so does proposing things. Happy new year!
The downstairs powderroom is beautiful!! Evey bit as luxurious as Lalande deserves! Congratulations to all involved! The plumbing industry has (been credited with, at least) saving more lives than any other. I think everyone there would agree that Selmar and Amaury are Lifesavers. 😊 The garden furniture is great, just the right amount of whimsy. The china organization is splendid. Please do a Narnia dressing room! White an old fur coat hanging in the doorway! And Phillip is so thoughtful with the much needed apartment facelift. Welcome home Nick, Marie, Antoine, dog-of-many-names, and Bunny!
I will miss your Aunt and Uncle so much! Amaury is sooo blessed to have them as parents! Also, the iron garden furniture is gorgeous!! Can’t wait to see it under the pergola. Happy new year!!
very beautiful Loo. 💙 💚 💛 the furniture will be beautiful in the walled garden. they are beautiful. Narnia attic is wonderful. wonderful to see Marie and Antoine.
Lovely vlog! Wonderful to see the loo progress, the comfortizing of Marie and Nick's flat, the organizing of the porcelain. Nothing is ever straightforward or boring... esp. the discussion of the Narnia fantasy! Loved it all, except Auntie and Uncle's departure, brought a tear to my eye to see Amaury emotional...Happy New Year!!
Nick and Marie’s living room would look lovely in a dusty sage green with the dark wood furniture. I’m glad that Stephanie has spaces to decorate while renovations are happening in so many parts of the chateau.

OMG!! The downstairs LOO is even more beautiful than I'd imagined!! The paper, the coving and the Venetian glass - simply sparklingly stunning!! And how loving and sweet were the goodbyes to Amaury's parents - I even teared up a bit! So excited for the New Year for you all! Love from Canada xoxo
Just can't get over how beautiful the loo is! Those mirrors just take it over the top!
I think of it as "The Enchanted Loo". Well done all!
THAT is the perfect name! Definitely enchanting.
Lovely furniture for the garden! I forgot how awesome the Loo's wallpaper is! Safe trip to your Aunt and Uncle! I know you and your Cousin will miss them terribly!
Hi
Your aunt and uncle and just too precious
Great work in the bathroom. That was the room you and your brother did the wallpaper. Beautiful job
Wow! The Downstair Loo looks fabulous! Your Cousin did an awesome job! Bravo !👏👏👏👏👏👏
Philip is very thoughtful, amaury has completed the loo marvellously and topped off everyone's hard work 👍 had a tear when Aunty and uncle left 😥 want them to hurry back!
Happy new year La Landers and thank you for sharing your lives with us x
Yay! Wow that mirror 😍!
Delightful. We really appreciate all the work that goes into these uplifing vlogs.
What a wonderful time at the Château! Absolutely love your aunt and uncle! What a blessing that you found another person as talented as Selmar bc Amaury is! He and Nati together is beyond sweet as are you and Phillip. Always exciting to welcome Nick & his family home 🎉 . Love this channel so much bc the occupants and visitors are exceptional. Thank you for sharing!
Love Amaury's to the point one liner: "Yah, It Sucks!" Says it all and cuts the undue emotion while still acknowledging it, so moving forward is now to the fore.
The loo is gorgeous... I m in love with the wallpaper, really pretty.. ❤️
The attic is getting cooler and cooler . The bathroom is beautiful . Great work all . Sorry to see Amurys parents leave .
Love the mirror in the downstairs loo. Phillip did a really great job.

Narnia is looking great and love the plans you talked about for it. Antoine sure is happy to be back the Chateau, love their little precious dog too. Just a fun day, so glad you received your booster too Steph! VERY important for all of us to booster up! Stay safe to all. xxx

Such a beautiful vlog. Filled with love. So sad to say au revoir to your Tatie and Tonton. Thank you for sharing with us all!
Thanks for the inspiration! We are still trying to save our restoration but we can't wait for the day when we get to make it fantastic and fill it with treasures like your chateau!
Yes, the bone dishes can be used for many things, fish, prawns, muscles - a place for the shells.
I love your attic, to help the old drawer slide smoothly rub a candle along the sliders, does the trick. 👍
The lawn furniture is beautiful! I love your vision for the future garden🥰
Those chairs will be under the Pergola for another 100 years. Robust, austentatious and perfect for a Chateau!👏👍🥳💖
The cast iron chairs are very special but will look lovely in you garden.
I have been dying to see how the downstairs loo turned out!!!!
Hey
the furniture will be beautiful in the walled garden. they are beautiful.
Love the vlogs when we get to see projects in the making . The downstairs loo is magnificent. I'm passionate about decorating and organising, so very fulfilling watching this vlog ..You are so lucky to have beautiful people in your life..
Watching this one again. Little creates would be awesome for storing and moving all those gorgeous unbelievable dinner service sets.
