Ohio State played a great game. ND lack of offensive consistency showed. The team has grit and heart. This team never quit. Got to love this team and coaching staff. Great season!
Kudos Bryan, I remember watching your playoff bracket predictions , and you picked Notre Dame to be in the final. I dont think alot of people thought the Irish would get as far as they did. Extremely disappointed in they outcome, but I won`t let it ruin what Notre Dame accomplished this season. Here`s to a great season, GO IRISH!!! ☘🏈☘
Was unfortunate Love was still clearly injured and we couldn't get anything going with Price or Williams. I was surprised at the grit of Leonard and the WR1 ability of Greathouse though. We have the pieces and depth going into next year for another run and hopefully most of the staff returns (though we all expect Golden to leave). Go Irish!
I told my wife right after that 1st drive that this hopefully wouldn't play out like the '06 Fiesta bowl where we did the same thing & then OSU took over from there, leaving us playing catch-up. I had an eerie feeling heading in to this game that a lot of things would finally catch up to us. Well, dammit! :( Look, this absolutely sucks, but at the end of it all, this team did a LOT of overachieving this season and has a lot to be proud of. HATE the way it ended but thankful for the memorable ride they took us on.
VERY proud of this season for Notre Dame. They played an equivalent of THREE New Years Six bowl games, top 10 post season games, in only one year. They went home with TWO Bowl game trophies to add to ND's trophy case. It was an odd thing watching this game. It is literally the reverse o0f how the ND Vs Indiana game played out. That is truly fascinating and very unexpected. Indiana had a terrific year for them by making their first ever CFP in the first ever CFP. ND also had a SPECTACULAR year. I expect ND will be back as a threat to win it all in 2025-2026 season. Indiana I just don't know. 8-4 may be their floor next year? Back to back 11 win seasons seems too pie in the sky. Let's see how the team fills out after Spring training and further transfers play out. This past recruiting year is rated around Indiana's second best in the modern recruiting rankings for what that means. Two of IU's transfers are coming back home. One left to play in the SEC for a year but is now back home. One left to play for Colorado and returned after one year. Teams may have to go to what Coach Allen used to do. Regularly play eight, or more, OL against the other teams starters. It would help in case of injuries.
I was fully prepared to stay up late and celebrate in the post game show, but the way the game unfolded, I was in bed by the end of the 3rd qtr and up early for work. Catching the replay this morning instead. The most frustrating part to me is that the team we saw last night was NOT the team the same team that reached the championship game. It felt to me like they out coached themselves and tried to get too cute. The defense didn’t line up scared and play on their heels, until last night. Giving up 4 TD’s in just a hair over one quarter was an absolutely devastating gut punch. The RB room was extremely productive in every game this year, until last night. It’s just so disheartening to lose in that fashion. Had they played the same style of ball and been bested by OSU, that’s one thing, but last night was just different, and not in a good way. 3 more hours of show to go. Thank you Bryan & IB Nation for a fantastic and entertaining season!
I agree. I thought on Defense they let Ohio State take them out of what is their game and what got them there. I think the injuries finally got to them too. On offense, I agree w IB in that way too many mistakes were made to put ND in a hole early. Great season though and ND never quit.
What a memorable and fun season we just witnessed. Though I wish we would have tried to give J Love a few more touches in thee second half. Loved the season, love this team, love the staff, love this channel, and I love this community. Lets get it next season boys, Go Irish!
Absolutely. No sugar coating, only the truth and fantastic breakdown of players, position assignments, technique, what worked, what didn’t etc. Perfect for those wanting details from former players and coaches of the sport.
2:03:40 OSU was blown out its last title appearance which a lot here in Ohio have forgotten (or try to- Michigan always seems to matter more). This game was not 2012 Bama ND either. MOV between last 3 meetings is 11, 3, 11.
@@arrowguy_173 that was a very weird post season. OSU and Clemson absolutely destroyed each other in the semis and multiple key players were out. Whoever faced Bama was getting crushed. Honestly, maybe some parellel's to ND's path this year. I think there's a pretty strong argument that ND's performance last night was one of the grittiest showings in CFB history. Massive respect to this Irish team. Freeman is building something special, and the future is bright. They're gonna be a force for years to come.
It seems to me our offense will benefit from Riley Leonard moving on. His lack of accuracy in the passing game was a liability. It hurt our balance as an offense over the course of the year. It will be helpful next year when the oline is more mature
Great season and all but as a notre dame fan these moral victories are old now… another championship appearance another bad loss. It wasn’t as bad as 2012 which it was looking like it was going to be but that was an awful loss. 1 good drive for most of the game and it was the opening drive, and the defense was awful for most of the game until Ohio state just fell asleep. 31 unanswered points while forcing only 4 incompletions all game. It’s so frustrating
I understand your pain. But this year was different. The old ND doesn’t beat uga and Penn st. Frustrating loss definitely but MF gets better after every loss. And don’t forget he’s just in year 3. Very frustrating for sure but I think we’re moving forward.
@@goirish8508god I hope so because all these “hey we got there at least” comments from some people out there is so infuriating because we should be better than that by now
Great season! Impressed by this group. My only nitpick was I think they were outphysicaled in the last 2 games by the Big Ten teams. Their bread and butter running game only works against inferior competition. They've erased some narratives but a few of the same issues haunted them in this game.
This was a successful season, the most successful season for Notre Dame and 30 years. Nobody thought we’d be playing national championship after week two then go on and win 13 games in a row three playoff games and play in a competitive national championship game. No one can tell me we have the over whelming talent to just dominate the College Football landscape yet so let’s reload move on build momentum for next season. I’m obviously sad we lost nobody wants to see their team lose, but I’m not mad. Ohio State is a hell of a team one of the best rosters in Ohio state history, they just out talented us.
The young linebackers got schooled. There is no doubt about it. But that's part of college football. There were fans who couldn't wait to shove Marist and JD out of the door. Some were furious that Marist even started in 2023. Last night is why coaches have a different perspective than fans with regard to experience.
Great season for the Fighting Irish very proud of this team. I'm sure all of the Irish fanbase is proud of this team. But ohio state offense of lime controlled that game Gave their running backs. Big opportunities end the quarterback lot of time to throw the ball in most cases
You're completely wrong about angeli on the fake. It was toght coverage and Angeli delivered a perfectly thrown ball where only Faison could catch it without the defender able to disrupt the play. Faisin is at fault for dropping a pass that hit him in both hands.
Injuries beat us, simple as that. You can't lose as many starters and have as many dinged up guys as we do and reasonably expect to win a game against an elite (and healthy) team. Ohio was good, but they were fortunate to play us when we were so shorthanded. Amazing season; all fight.
“Injuries beat us simple as that” such a bad take. Two teams lined up yesterday. There wasn’t self inflicted wounds coming from ND. You guys just outplayed. GG!
OK Pay attention. This team scored more against Ohio State than any other team in CFP. They lost by the lowest margin of any team in the playoffs… We have a first time head coach..these guys are very talented. We need more experience count the sophomores and juniors on the team now and the coming year will surprise you
Complimentary football? Ohio State punted once in the entire game. They scored on every possession other than one punt and a 50 yard drive that ended with a turnover.
It would be nice if we could live in a world where only our opponents had to deal with injuries. Fact is, OSU had key injuries to the O-line. It took a lot of good coaching and talented players to finally meld into a good line, with virtually nobody playing in their original O-line positions. OSU just had too many players who were better than the ND players. ND was good. OSU better.
What happened to ' this is a diferrent ND team' this is not the old ND team blah blah blah😮😮😮😮 ND weak schedule exposed ND in the plaffoffs. They dont deserve to be in the Plaffoffs. Ole Miss and South Carolina deserve it more. This is same old over hype ND team Brian Kelly was right. You cannot win a Championship at ND
Coming from a non-ND fan, This is a terrible take. ND beat 3 teams to get to the title game. They then made a solid attempt at digging back from a 3 score deficit against the best team in the country. If they didn't belong, nobody did.
Nd could of very much won the game. But if it wasnt for the fumble and penalties they could of got blown out. The lights were to bright in the 1st half. Once they settled down and started throwing down field osu crappy db's showed up. The fake punt and missed fg missed assisgnments and still had it close.
ND scored the most points and had the smallest margin of loss of any of OSU's playoff opponents. You could make an argument that the Texas game was closer since the scoop and score took Texas from potentially tying to down two scores, but ND was absolutely no pushover.
Ohio State played a great game. ND lack of offensive consistency showed. The team has grit and heart. This team never quit. Got to love this team and coaching staff. Great season!
