    This is coming from someone with a limited knowledge of shoulder launched systems, but from what I know most "commercial" launchers use a booster charge to launch the projectile before the motor ignites to avoid burns. It appears yours doesn't have this system and I was wondering what your plan was to combat burns or if you will add a booster charge. On the other hand it does look like your engines burn with a very tight jet and this may answer my question. I love work and keep it up.

    • @jndvs95
      @jndvs95 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      On a homemade scale, Boost charges are incredibly inconsistent and difficult to make efficient. The advantage to the rocket motor having a full ignition from the tube is that the rocket will continue to go in the general direction after it leaves the tube, depending on stabilization, etc. With a boost charge, you have a window where nothing is propelling the rocket and you hope it is still in the desired trajectory when the main motor ignites.
      In the grand scheme of things, if you were wearing gloves, pants, and a long sleeve shirt, that rocket would be moving too fast to really cause any burns. If one were worried however, you could just throw a simple blast shield on the launcher like the early panzerschreck models.

      A lightweight shield will minimize damage due to the scale of the motors. If they scale up, then they will need the booster charge.

    What kind of propellant did you use for the motor? It has so much power and consistency. TH-cam probably wouldn't like you disclosing the composition, but if that propellant has a name, I would love to know it. Also, you should really, REALLY check out the website run by the Department of Defense known as the Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC). Every single DECLASSIFIED technical data, specifications, testing data, R&D, and experimentation documents on every type of military hardware/armament that exists can be found on there. It's how I know:
    "The propellant charge for the Carl Gustav weapon consists of 370 g of
    double-base propellant AKB 204/0 that is layered in forty 15-mm by 167-
    mm strips [17]. The propellant is based on nitrocellulose (NC) and nitroglycerin (NG) with ethyl centralite (EC) as a stabilizer in the following
    proportions (w/w): NC (61.0%), NG (37.5%), and EC (1.5%)"
    Yeah try to find that info anywhere else. That site is an absolute GOLDMINE

    Absolutely beutiful work as always. I love making rockets and small explosives, I always love the boom and the flame out the back. There's nothing like a good straight firing rocket. And the chemistry behind the fuel, I love that process too. Am currently working on a rocket launcher of sorts myself. Doesn't use any rockets at all. Just propelled by a airsoft 40mm shell. And it will basically be a short range shoulder fired mortar. Will hopefully be doing a video on it within the next few days or weeks. Will definatly be my 150sub video

    • @Schwarzvogel1
      @Schwarzvogel1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zengyuchen2226 Look up what the M74 rockets were filled with. Thickened Pyrophoric Agent (aka Satan's corn syrup) is not something you want anywhere near you without extensive personal protective equipment, proper fire extinguishing apparatus, and ideally a good pair of running shoes in case something goes wrong. And it almost always does, on a long enough timeline.
      If you aren't familiar with the main ingredient, triethylaluminium (TEA), it's a rather nasty pyrophoric compound that is hypergolic with water, your skin, liquid oxygen, or just about any oxidizer you can think of. The stuff doesn't need to be lit with a spark--it will spontaneously ignite on contact with air. The M74 rocket filler was thickened with polyisobutane to give it that gooey napalm stickiness we all know and love, and it burned at 1600 deg C--hotter than napalm. If you found a way to mix in some chlorine trifluoride without it reacting with the TEA, you'd potentially have an incendiary agent that is nigh impossible to extinguish with any known means since ClF3 will even ignite sand and asbestos.
      Incidentally, the US military was also testing a crowd-control variant of M72, which, of course would *not* have been loaded with rockets filled with TPA. That said, splattering an unruly mob with pyrophoric syrup would disperse a riot quite rapidly.
      In short, an M74's payload combines everything we love about napalm with the toxicity and pyrophoricity of white phosphorus. And since those rockets, like all military equipment, were manufactured by the lowest bidder, the rockets themselves had the unfortunate and rather frightening propensity to leak after some time in storage.
