But some of them do consider themselves Irish, like Ian Paisley for example. Its actually something debated in Loyalist circles. Many Ulster Scots also do not have "irish" accents, and often have Scottish or even American accents. However, ethnically Ulster Scots are mostly not irish because they are descendant from Scottish and English settlers in the Ulster Plantation. So the majority are not biologically Irish, but a few may identify as Irish.
