    That Rickenbacker has always been one of my all-time dream guitars, man, I freaking love those things
    Neck Pickup: Ticket to Ride - The Beatles
    Middle Pickup: Turn! Turn! Turn! - The Byrds
    Bridge Pickup: Here Comes My Girl - Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers

    I love Turn Turn Turn. I have just always loved the sound of the guitars on that song. If people have never listened to the Byrds beyond a handful of their biggest hits, you are truly missing out. They one of the greatest bands of all time. Painfully under appreciated.

    Quite punctual for this first GOTD of the week! 1. The Beatles "Ticket To Ride" 2. The Byrds "Turn Turn Turn!" 3.Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers "Here Comes My Girl". Ahh the magical sound from this piece of twangerness! Congrats to whomever!

    The c63 has different pickups. 88 had hi-gains that LOOKED like toasters. The c63 has low output scatterwound pu's. Also the bracing. Both great gits, but I'm not giving up my 1993plus for either.

    • @davidkieltyka9
      @davidkieltyka9 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Those pickups are typically known as "hot toasters." Alnico magnets like the originals (Hi-gains use ceramic mags) but with more wire around the coil. I know of some folks who "unwound" their hot toasters back to the 7-7.5KOhm range to get the classic toaster sound. From example clips I've heard that does the job. My own '95 360v64 (6 string) has a more recent lower wind toaster at the neck and a hot one at the bridge. Nice balance!

      The original 381's actually had hi-gains. The reissues from the 1980s-early 2000s had high output (11.5 ish) toasters. From about 2002 the toasters are much more like vintage toasters from most Ricks from the 60s -- lower output (7.4 ish) and scatterwound.
