This is still the only multi-tool review channel worth anything. It’s very clear when I watch big gadget channels review tools that they don’t actually use tools for a living. This channel has saved me a lot of time and money simply because I don’t have to try them myself. Big fan!
This channel is the 'go to' place for real world information regarding multi-tools. Well done Ben, keep it going. It's great to listen to an expert giving their unbiased opinion !!!!!
Thanks for your vids. It's nice to have reviews from someone who actually makes a living using tools. I've carried the PS4 for 3 years now. It's in my coin pocket suspended from a belt loop from a mini caribiner and 1" of paracord to keep it upright in the pocket. I keep a bic minitronic to the left of the PS4, and a Gerber EAB to the right, all in the coin pocket. I've tried bigger MT's, but their length/thickness blocks access to the main pants pocket below. I'd never utilize 1/2 pound of multitool, nor would I be willing to carry it daily. The tool set on the PS4 is perfect for me; Scissors for fingernails and loose threads, file for fingernails and smoothing galled firearm pins, and parts tuning in a pinch on the firing range, drivers for sugging up loose lever screws, ejector housing screws, base pin latch screws, grip screws, adjusting pistol sights, etc., pliers for grabbing and installing little pivot pins, untying knots, snugging small hex fasteners, etc.. The PS4 really has been the optimum balance of compactness and functionality for me.
It certainly sounds like it. The pliers are a bit lacking for my type of use, but are ideal for smaller tasks like you have described. Not everybody needs a full sized multi tool. Thanks for watching, and for taking the time to comment.
So after 10 years of having a wingman and watching this channel since 2020, I have upgraded to a Surge and PS4. They are great for bike rides with a proper bike mulitool, and great everywhere else. The Surge is a bit big for most people in the UK (oooh a scary knife) but the PS4 is great for everyday tasks. One day I will customise the PS4 to look nicer.
Awesome little multitool. For me it's perfect. I've used every single tool except the file, so far. Even so, I'd prefer to keep the file rather than swap it out for a package opener. The knife will do for opening packages. It's a little more dangerous to the user than a package opener, but having the file is an additional function that will come in handy sometime. And as another reviewer pointed out, the pliers on this multitool work better than tweezers if you need to get a splinter out of your hand.
The players do work decently for what they are. I have found that the Gerber dime pliers actually work better as tweezers than the Leatherman does. They come down to a bit sharper of a point which makes them ideal for that task. At any rate, the PS4 is a pretty decent tool. I tend to lean more towards scissor-based keychain tools myself, but everybody has different needs. Thank you for watching.
Seems ideal to go in a tackle box (fresh water), right? Pliers for getting the hook out of the mouth, scissors and knife for line-related needs, file to sharpen hooks if needed, bottle opener for obvious reasons.
Do you find that you get a lot of use out of the pliers? To me they just seem really too small to handle any kind of major task. I think I prefer a scissor-based keychain tool as opposed to a plier based.
I just do really basic tasks with it. They aren’t the most useful, but they are better than nothing. I used to have a Micra, but I gave that to my wife because she wanted scissors. I experimented with carrying a Wingman, but it was overkill for my desk job.
Maybe one of the Juice series of tools would be more useful for your needs. Sadly, it appears as though they will all be discontinued soon. I just wish they had pocket clips.
I've been thinking about what might best suit your needs today. For some reason, I just couldn't get it out of my head. I know you said you didn't want a corkscrew, and the two tools I am about to suggest actually do have those as tools. What would you think about a BokerPlus Tech Tool or a Ruike model of multiknife? I don't know what the most important tools and functions you really need in your multi tool. Just putting those out there. There is also a wide variety of really good Victorinox knives available, if the pliers are not essential.
I have a roll of electrical tape on the side of my backpack and I have tried several other tools, Micra, mini swiss army. I like having external sissors or a small blade for that maner. I wanna try those tiny pliers for pulling metal splinters, I didn't like the tweezers on the Micra or mini swiss army. I love having a small metal file over a nail file.
I would hate it if they took the file off and put a package opener on instead. The blade opens packages well enough, but I can't file a snagging fingernail with a package opener.
Hello man great multitool reviews like them all. Could you get your microphone louder it seems all your videos volume is lower than average. Thanks and subscribed with both my accounts.
Thank you very much, and thank you for subscribing. I will bear the microphone issue in mind and try to make some adjustments. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
If they swapped the file for a package opener like on the Gerber Dime I'd get it in a heartbeat. The best part of the Dime is that package opener. If they'd include tweezers like on the Dime that would help justify the price a little more too. The Dime isn't a quality tool but in those 2 regards it has an edge over this one... especially since it's only $18 instead of $40.
The pliers head on the Squirt really works as tweezers, today I was able to pull out one of those annoying little blackhead nose hairs with it which confirmed this. As to package opener, I find the blade on the Squirt is ideal as a package opener, indeed I don't really use it for anything else as it's just part of my EDC, I always carry it with a SAK or dedicated folder, or even all 3 together. So I wouldn't swap the file, it's actually pretty capable for it's size. I agree it's pricey, I'm in the UK and it costs the equivalent of $55-60 here, whereas the Dime comes out around $35 but I prefer the design and aesthetics of the Squirt, plus it's made in the USA not China so the quality is better.
I feel the same way. I like the PS4. The thing is, I find a good set of scissors or the wire strippers on the ES4 to be more useful. Pliers, on a keychain multi tool, or just too undersized to be really useful. I don’t mean to say that they’re completely useless, I just get more use out of those other models.
NOt sure I'll get an answer to this as the vid is quite old, but worth a shot. What's the best way to get all the lint out of the tool? Do you just wash it in water and a bit of soap, like I do with my SAKs? Fully agree, btw, that the file should be replaced by a package opener like on the Gerber Dime!
I really like the leatherman squirt for its size. I cannot find them in the stores anywhere anymore. Which is a shame, I wanted another one . I lost the first one i had in the flood here in Louisiana back in 2016. I guess, i will just have to order one.
@@txtoolcrib I have the micra and like it, but I seem to use the pliers more than scissors. I have a Gerber vise I've had for years so I just keep it in my pocket and the micra on a keychain.

It's not cheap outside the USA, nor are any Leathermans or other US branded multitools, even the ones made in China. However for small jobs it's pretty useful and takes up hardly any space so I like it. I've even used it at home for jobs where other pliers were too large, same with the small Phillips screwdriver which I've used to open Torx screws.

Yeah I could see that. Though it might be prone to rusting. Might want to make sure it is well lubricated when not in use for long periods of time.
I always have a PS4 on my keychain. It’s one of my most used tool as a cubicle warrior.

Great overview and review. Just wish they still made this with removeable fasteners, instead of rivets. Would make cleaning and modifying easier

Had never considered that use.

You're welcome!
Hello sir if you are having Leatherman PST please make a overview on it and also on Wingman.
I will have a review on the Wingman very shortly.
Is this the best keychain one with pliers ?
I consider it to be one of the best plier based keychain tools. I haven’t tried every one available though.
@@txtoolcrib Is there any better alternative for the size / price ?
Tabish Syed in my experience to date, the PS4 is the best keychain plier based multi tool so far. Again, I haven’t tested every one of them though.
Shame it’s discontinued now
Looks like I know what's going on my keychain
You like this one I take it?
how are these scissors work on finger nails?
I have never used them on fingernails, I know a lot of guys do, but from what people tell me they seem to work just fine.
