The 11f1.8 is a BIG deal. idc about IBIS, because honestly the M3 is tiny, and tripods exist.
I'd love to see some more smooth UW shots around SEA with it. We did our trip around there in 2019, and got locked down in Japan finally for 8 months. It was a great experience, so I'm living vicariously through your travels now.

Awesome content and has really taught me a lot as a true beginner here! Diving into videography for my real estate business and wonder which set up you'd recommend for simplicity yet a great finished product. After some research I have been leaning towards the Sony ZV-E10. I'd be using this for creating content in indoor studio and also video walkthroughs of home tours. Would the ZV-E10 with the 1mm f/1.8 be a good set up for my needs? Or what would you recommend?

@@VYinLA I think if you have only one lens, then those are too wide for travel photography. Maybe get something like 24-70.

Canon 10-22mm with Metabones still in my a6400 for years, and it's been a holy grail for me even without OSS. All to be said, this is like a dream come true for wide-style. APS-C still rocks! Thank you Sony!

That 11mm sounds like a bang up deal for wide angle video shots
Compared to the 11mm 1.8 and 15mm 1.4. What would be a great lens for taking general scenery and maybe like the stars in the desert or flowers in a field and maybe some portraits? I like the 1.4 since maybe can be night scenes quite well but not sure if the 10-20mm better since it offers more coverage.
Don't use active steadyshot on ZV-e10, the good way is stabilization in catalyst afterwards, smoother, less crop, fixed rolling shutter problem

Hi @jason, fantastic and fun comparison video, well done! This may be off tangent: I hv A6500 and shoot about 70:30 = photo:video. What’s the plus minuses of getting the new 11mm or 15mm + A6500 + crane M3 vs. DJI Osmo Pocket 2 for video? I find that my videos are shaky, when I use the 10-18mm f4 or 16-55m G f2.8. So basically is it better to get a gimbal or go with Pocket 2? Cheers.
Great video Jason, I love your content. 🔥I shoot on an A7IV, love the wide for shooting car content and am using the Sony 10-18 F4 and it works great. One issue of with the 10-18 lens is with in car footage. I think built in lens OSS causes the lens internals to slightly move, which causes the footage to shake. I like the new E 11 1.8 and being that it is a prime lens without OSS I believe it would solve my shake issues. Would you recommend any full frame lenses will slightly better performance over this? Thanks!🙌
For a7IV? probably will have to go the route of APS-C for the wide end of things. 11mm should fit your needs!

I recently jumped from sigma 16mm to sony 15mm for my a6700. After 6 years of using the sigma and sticking with it for its sharp excellent quality, the lighter weight and smaller form factor of the sony won me over. I agree with the point in the review that sony 15mm might be a good consideration if you own neither, unless budget is a huge concern

What lens would you recommend for macro video photography on the ZV-E10?
I've love to know what the focus breathing is like on these lenses, particularly on the 11mm.
According to other reviewers here on YoutTube, the focus breathing is minimal. Nothing to worry about there.

Thanks Jason for the indepth review. I want to ask since I use the 10-18 F4 in Full frame mode. In your video you said the new one has vignette all the way but you need to remove the lense hood in order to test it. Was the lens hood removed? I am curios to see as it seems this new lens is much sharper. Thank you again.
Yea same question… can we really not use the 1020 on a full frame body in the ff mode like we do in the 1018 … or is that 1018 is still better for the full frame bodies as compared to the 1020?

I think my dream APSC kit for my a6400 will be the 56mm f1.4 sigma, the 18-50mm f2.8 sigma, and this new 11mm f1.8 sony! Currently have 56mm and tamron 17-70 but I rarely feel like taking my a6400 and tamron bc the lens is so bulky :(
I totally support that message! The Sigma 18-50 already killed off my Sony 35mm f1.8 OSS, and the new Sony 11mm will make the 12mm Samyang MF and Sigma 16mm f1.4 obsolete, too. The Sigma 56mm f1.4 is the prime APS-C prime!

The 11mm and 15mm primes are interesting. I think I will stick with the Tamron 1120 due to the F2.8. Would love to see the 15mm compared to the Sigma 16, both at F1.4. The size and weight saving would be attractive.

I am more excited about the Sigma 16-28mm f/2.8. I could use it on my APS-C Sony, and carry over that lens when I upgrade to a full frame body.

Maybe an 11mm or so.
How can you tell if a wide or super wide lens is a fish-eye lens?
When you go down to 10mm or so, is there necessarily a fish-eye effect?
How can I tell that a lens is “normal” (no distortion around the edges)?

I am so confused. I am planning to buy the new Sony a6700 and was looking at a 15mm lens for it. However, when you mentioned it's a 24mm FF equivalent, what does that mean? I understand that if I were to use Active Stabilisation, then there would be a 1.5 crop. But my confusion and question is, if I use the 15mm with the a6700 camera, would it crop from 15mm to 24mm without the use of stabilisation?

I got the F1.8 11mm for video vlogging last night and HATED it.I sent it back today. I have a crane M3 and the 10-18 OSS but I think since I have. I can see the 11mm nice for gimbal travel walking, but I want to vlog when I do that so the 15mm won for me since I will not be using stabilization crop using a6600 vs E10.
Since I have GAS I am going to try the G 10-20 and get the better quality and lighter gimbal work.
what did you hate about the 11mm for vlogging? debating between the 11mm and the 15mm and I have a feeling I'm going to hate the 11mm for vlogging too idk if the 15mm will feel too cramped to vlog myself with
