  • The church of All Hallows sits beside the busy A272 road, a mile or so West out of the historic town of Petworth. The tower, with its distinctive stone spire is a local landmark. The tower holds a ring of five bells, with the tenor weighing 6-1-10cwt and is tuned to C.
Originally there were three bells in the tower, however in 1992 John Taylor Bellfounders Ltd rehung and augmented the ring to five, with the addition of a new frame to support the newly cast trebles. The ropes fall to the first floor ringing chamber and navigate the clock mechanism and walkway, thus creating a somewhat banana shaped rope circle (similar to that at Chailey).
The bells themselves aren't the most musical (as can be seen from my expression when ringing up!). Nevertheless, the bells handle well and are easy to strike and quite pleasant when being rung fast.
    5 bells, 6-1-10cwt in C.

Yes, on the treble and tenor. It goes ding dong on the quarter, then that twice on the half, three times on the three quarter etc and then On the hour it does that 4 times then the number of what hour it is on the tenor.

@@RingerLuca651 Yeah, not exactly the most tuneful bells are they. However they are unique!

@@DylanSmith_15 as you can see in the ringing up, Ollie's facial expression does say it all! I was leading so you can't see me but I was laughing a lot (I have rung here a few times before) because they're quite small, they're hung on massively oversized wheels. This makes them much slower. But because they're small sounding bells, if you ring them slow, it doesn't really sound right, so you have to kind of struggle to get them to go faster
