वर्ष 1986 में बनी इस फिल्म में सभी किरदार बहुत अच्छे थे गरीबी लाचारी तथा इसी प्रकार कि अन्य परेशानियों के चलते समाज में प्रथा थी हो सकता है कि कुछ लोगों को यह पसंद ना आया हो लेकिन वास्तविकता यह थी कि इसी प्रकार से यह प्रथा चली आ रही थी गांव के पंच परमेश्वर के रूप में माने जाते थे उनके फैसले अटल होते थे लेकिन उनके फैसले भी सही होते थे आज तो इस प्रकार के फैसले करने वाले भी अपना स्वार्थ ढूंढते हैं कुल मिलाकर कहे तो एक अच्छी स्टोरी पर बनी फिल्म थी सभी ने बेहतर किरदार अदा किया। अतीत और भविष्य दो अलग-अलग चीजें हैं जो अतीत में गुजर चुका आने वाला भविष्य उसे स्वीकार करे या ना करे यह उस पर निर्भर करता है। जय हिंद जय भारत जय उत्तराखंड
Awaiting to see this film. Hema malini acted very well and stole the show. But unfortunately the film flopped. Audience did not accept hema and rishi being paired.

What an unforgettable movie! While everyone had done a good job in the movie, it was the sterling performances by Hema Malini and Rishi Kapoor that had lifted 'Ek Chaddar Maili Si' to lofty heights!
One of the best parallel movies I have ever watched.. in fact this is something you can see if you keenly observe the world we come from... Very tight storyline in a one and half hour movie, the director has showcased the social behaviour of the time when it was filmed.. to some extent even now it is relevant. It's a story and status of women in our society specially in economically backward section. The way the daughter-in-laws were treated by their mother-in-laws, the way the husbands used to torture their wives in their drunken status, the sheer poverty that leads the woman and the mother of children to think of even prostitution.. the poor grand mother trying to sell her granddaughter to an old man for a few hundred rupees. Drinking by the landlord and the Sadhu inside Dharmashala and raping a minor innocent girl estranged from her brother and who takes shelter in a Dharmshala, she is murdered by them so as to keep this vice a secret. Even the marriage of a widow to his brother in law... All these things are the mirror of the society, specially in twentieth century. This has changed a bit now but many of these things still prevail. I really appreciate the work by legendary actors Rishi Kapoor and Hema Malini ji. Even Kulbhushan Kharbanda ji did a wonderful job.. This movie touched my heart and made me feel truly sad, I even cried on some scenes, specially at the plight of woman of those days.. they were treated like an object in the market to trade. Brilliant movie, brilliant acting and direction👍

Thanks for the film, It's brilliant! (I was going to watch it, but a little bit later, and yesterday came here after an attempt to watch "Gheri Chaal" with Hema Malini, which I didn't like at all. And this film is what I love in Bollywood). Hope that I'll have many chances to watch movies like this.
