Lisa Hannigan is the most underrated Artist in the world. I had the chance to see her live in Montreal in 2011 and wish I could see her again. Brilliant is the least I can say.
some artists don’t care to self promote much and that’s cool ~ i like the indie thing… keeps the jerks and meanies from finding out where the nice kids are hanging out
This song is waaay too good to be popular. It is really sweet and I listen to it before going to bed. Thank you, Lisa Margaret Hannigan, for this song!
I grew up listening to punk and metal, travelled Europe going to tekno parties, lived in New Zealand listening to Dub and Drum n Bass, came back home and fell back in love with Sean Nós and Trad, but this is me favourite song of all time still - go raibh míle maith agat Lisa.
He went to sea for the day He wanted to know what to say When he's asked what he'd done In the past to someone That he loves endlessly Now she's gone, so is he I went to war every morning I lost my way but now I'm following What you said in my arms What I read in the charms That I love durably Now it's dead and gone and I am free I went to sleep for the daytime I shut my eyes to the sunshine Turned my head away from the noise Bruise and drip decay of childish toys That I loved arguably All our labouring gone to seed Went out to play for the evening We wanted to hold onto the feeling On the stretch in the sun And our breathlessness as we run To the beach endlessly As the sun creeps up on the sea
IDK if she meant this but this is what I get from the lyrics... Vs 1 a story, love can be tragic but we want love and like the tragic emotions of love Sets.the stage that this is a song about this subject V2 the effort. Going to war... fighting for it but finding that in their arms and in the charms, we cannot make it happen. That I love durably, what an insult to one who is genuine. The burn from this sets up v3. V3 - denial. Shutting out the possibility of love to avoid the pain of when it doesn't work out. The decay of childish toys...things/activities we use to distract ourselves from what we don't have. We love them arguably...and all that labor is for nothing, it goes to seed (no harvest) and we are left still wanting. V4 the hope. We can decide to try, be positive, open, content and enjoy others ...play, see the beauty around us and revel in it. And maintain hope, as the sun (always) creeps up on the sea. Again. My take, but thank you to Lisa H
I stumbled upon this song after bumping my toe on love. An ugly tragic end it was, but this song remained and somehow gets more beautiful each time I listen
What a nice song. Heard a couple of minutes ago in a video about a couple visiting Iceland and I thought it was a beautiful song. I had to hear it all. It's so so beautiful!!!
Just when you think the art of video making has become an exercise in dull predictable repetition something beautiful and imaginative like this comes along! Really like the fact that she looks like she's having tons of fun with it to
I thought the song was interesting when I heard it on the movie Ondine so I had to hear it on TH-cam. I love you two books! Thank you for sharing the pop ups with us. So cool!
Oh my God, it's so lovely, fabulous and enchanting! :) I used to have books like these as a child, for example Cinderella, Hans and Gretl, Little Red Riding Hood... I loved them! :)
she's like that cute indie girl that the guy you have a crush on wants to go out with. like you know she's cool, but there's something that makes you so envious.

I've met Lisa and she is a complete sweetie, lovely lady.
Your description describes sharply what I always thought about Lisa Hanning. Why the hell isn't she most popular as she deserves to be ?
neko case on that list for me AND I need Ms. Hannigan’s balm when I’ve again Gone overboard on Neko. 😮😊😅

First time I heard it in "ondine" movie and I have this as my ringtone since that day

He went to sea for the day
He wanted to know what to say
When he's asked what he'd done
In the past to someone
That he loves endlessly
Now she's gone, so is he
I went to war every morning
I lost my way but now I'm following
What you said in my arms
What I read in the charms
That I love durably
Now it's dead and gone and I am free
I went to sleep for the daytime
I shut my eyes to the sunshine
Turned my head away from the noise
Bruise and drip decay of childish toys
That I loved arguably
All our labouring gone to seed
Went out to play for the evening
We wanted to hold onto the feeling
On the stretch in the sun
And our breathlessness as we run
To the beach endlessly
As the sun creeps up on the sea
