I'm pretty sure that you don't need a capacitor for a DC motor.
That motor must be powerful, you may also try a different gear ratio to lower the RPM, it's better for thick/hard materials, drill bits will last longer and the quality will improve 😊

I see what you mean. Yeah, column drills have different pulleys so you can change the gear ratio depending on the required speed
