how did someone somehow make sans look more tired both of life in general and of the loop without making him look edgy? he looks so broken also is it just me or does tears in the rain seemingly fit more as a eventual song change during a genocide sans fight after his rock bottom hope somehow goes lower, he isn't even fighting because he "can't afford not to care anymore" he just fights because it's become a habit and sans is just following the motions

Sans fights because of the Toriel's promise, he's not protecting Frisk from monsters, he's protecting Them from the genocide route itself his real goal is to make player reset and do another route that's why he decides to fight Frisk on genocide. He's not fighting Frisk if they kill Papyrus or all the main characters (without killing regular monsters) because he knows that they will reset and avenging his friends is useless. That's the real canon sans
