Thank you. My ochem teacher gave us an exam with these substituents naming and we had no idea what the heck he was referring too. On our practice HW, we usually input the long nomenclature namings. Thanks for this btw.
sir i do have a question in the ist example where the longest chain is attached to the 3 carbon on the right side the long chain is attached to the second carbon we named it as isopropyl where as in the second example the long chain is attached to the 4 carbon which is butyl group.on the right side the long chain is attached to the 2ndry carbon which we named as sec butyl.kindly explain why there is a difference.thanks
