Angelina's singing of this song was always wonderful, but she really improves on this one song a few years later, still in Norway, and she combines it with guitar playing.
Angelina has sung this song several times, her latest was at the Las Vegas concert. James Thiel has done a great video of the Vegas performance, editing in some of the Norways got talent performance in to the video. I think this performance here has the fastest tempo I have heard her sing this song
Lots of people can sing but the voice is a living breathing instrument and let's face it some of us are born with a great instrument and some are not. I think Angelina was one of the lucky ones who has a world class set of pipes. And I think right around this time in her development she's beginning to realize what a great instrument she has and starts to really use it to its full potential. It's like if you were just learning to drive and someone gave you a Ferrari. At first you'd just think of it as another car but once you realized it was more than just another car you'd want to open it up on the straightaways. And then if you're a great interpretive talent like Angelina you'd start to win a lot of races. Hope that analogy makes sense.
I appreciate you going thru her evolution one song at a time, but as a 75-year-old, I fear I won't be around to hear your wonderful, insightful reactions to her current greatness!! ❤️
I can listen to Angelina anytime, anywhere. Having said that, I prefer her NGT version of Bang, Bang. The cadence was a little faster here, and I think that takes away from melancholy of those great lyrics. And you’re right, the tremolo guitar was better for the NGT performance. I think her cover of At Last in this outdoor concert was as good as it gets. For the other songs (Bang, Bang, What a Difference a Day Makes, Fly Me to the Moon) I think she has better versions. I’m old, and I like young Angelina singing the classics. It’s hard to say that someone is the best singer ever, but Angelina is the only singer I’ve ever listened to everyday for years and years. No one has come remotely close to that.
At 16 yo she did this live performance back in Norway after the Coof. She played guitar along with the other guitarist who was doing the main part. And then she just sung this song once again back in her Vegas show.
Many voice coaches out there agree with you re her register..suggesting she’s naturally a contralto..I’m looking forward to you reacting t9 her rendition of How Great Though Art..in the same key as Elvis aged 12!
