I love this so so much ! I made the decision to become a minimalist earlier this year and I feel so much happier, free and no stress and my anxiety is 99% gone!
I have been heading in this direction towards minimalism over the past 3-4 years. To me, minimalism has a sliding scale and as they've expressed, only you are the one to know what you can and can't part with.
I had an anxiety attack a year back surrounded by crap I didnt need, and a pressurising at work. the next day, I shoved all my crap in the attic, the house has never been so tidy, and that anxiety never came back. Every now and then I assess and reassess my stuff and pack it away in the attic and systematically it away. I never been happier and all my life I believed that life was about accumulating, now I see its about the opposite and focussing on things that matter.
I am a little over half way through and love it already! I never got to read the book and was so happy when I saw that you uploaded an audiobook ❤🌈♥thank you for that and all the work you've done over the years! 😊✨
Really awesome that you've made audio books ! I've enjoyed listening to these, usually while I'm tidying up, it prompted me to do a bit of a declutter too as I've realised that I still have a lot of those just in case items hanging around.
You guys are amazing! Your stories are uplifting and motivational! I plan to spread the word to colleagues and friends and start and start my own journey as a minimalist!!! Thank You!
Donating your stuff is a great way to declutter and simplify your life. *However* as someone who's worked at Goodwill, I've seen first hand the level of good things people could reuse go right into the trash because of company policy. Oh this Panagonia backpack has a few smudges on it? *TRASH* This first edition of Double Star has a slight rip on it's cover? *TRASH* If you are planning on donating anything to a thrift store, I advice you to ask in advance the policies they have in regards to what is acceptable for resale. This has made me much more cautious as to who I donate too and what I plan on donating.
Minimalism has its roots in the obscure scripture passage found in Proverbs 30:8-9. It's the Prayer of Agur and delivers the secret for finding balance and purpose. In many ways, the opposite of The Prayer of Jabez.
I have a problem with helping other people. I think humanity is destroying the word. I preferr to help animals or help in a way that doesn't envolve people (for exampleenvironement) Is that the same?
@@ZenDragoonYT It's over 1 ton of material. It uses fossil fuel. For the middle class, it's 1/3 to 1/4 of their earning, according to the national institute. It is way too complicated to consider it as minimalistic. A bicycle is a minimalist. A car is far from it. In our cities, cars don't seem like minimalistic transport. 1 or 2 for each family. Stored in streets. There is so much infrastructure dedicated to this transport. So many problems emerge from this transport. Sedentary diseases, cancers, respiratory diseases, audio pollution, air pollution, accidents, coltan in batteries of the next generation, extraction and production pollution. For people who chose to get a more spacious house in a rural area, it seems good to have a car, they could even consider it a simple transport. But it's not.

I love being minimalist, I did have trouble converting to it at first, but I love how free you can be and live a meaningful life.

This book has inspired me to donate 19 huge boxes of "stuff". Still decluttering.
Good job! I'll start tomorrow, I really hope the world will know about this lifestyle, it'll seriously save the planet
Be careful what you donate. Much of it may just end up in the landfill.
@@cjdvise but if you keep it isnt your house just a landfill
I love that this is online.
me too!
Inspired me to quit my second job. Feeling optimistic I'll find my true path!

You need to move that that stuff out of your attic, that is bad Feng Shui.

Christopher V this is awesome insight. Thanks so much for sharing. Do you know of any nationwide donation centers with more user-friendly policies?
Thanks Josh and Ryan. :)
Very helpful. Thank you so much.
The premise reminds me of a wise religious saying: “Knowledge is but one point, but the ignorant have multiplied it.” - Baha'u'llah, The Seven Valleys

Inculcating an approach with an emphasis to need based buying rather than what you buy on an impulse will curtail the clutter.

Same thing is in budhism. So.... you are bit late.
