There's a trap card called "Appropriate" that lets you draw 2 cards every time your opponent draws cards outside their draw phase. I used to play an Exodia deck with that, years ago. You'd force your opponent to draw cards so that you could draw 2 cards, it was kind of fun.

    • @vvvidya
      @vvvidya 3 ปีที่แล้ว +74

@@sakuyabestgirl3418 It's not a once per turn so it's possible to go on a massive combo with it. However I remember that the first time you activate it, you don't draw 2 cards, it only works after it's active and they draw again. So it's very open to disruption or getting destroyed, definitely wouldn't stand up against today's decks I think.

@@sakuyabestgirl3418 nah it’s not OPT, which is why I’ve heard of some shenanigans being associated with this card, as if you and your opponent both have “Appropriate” on the field, their effects will keep activating eachother and you’ll each keep drawing through your entire deck. i’m surprised this isn’t on a banlist or there isn’t any ruling about this from what i’ve seen

    • @azuredragoon2054

@@StardustLegend How do you restrict a card to only being used by one deck in a duel and not both? Closest you could get is Duel Links limited list (because Limited functions differently), but even that isn't a guarantee.
The only other way would be to errata the card so that only one copy can be on the field (anywhere) at a time. But they don't need to do that.

(18:00) Card Destruction combos with Appropriate so well - playing Appropriate Exodia is just hilarious when you get to discard 12 cards and then draw 14 cards; then if you discard any Exodia pieces you can usually just play a Pot of Avarice from the 14 cards you drew (unless you have less than 2 cards left in your Deck, which is a sometimes frustrating ruling).
Still not as silly as Heart of the Underdog drawing through literally the entire deck in one Draw Phase using one card, but unlike Heart of the Underdog it is an FTK option.

I feel like Generaider Boss Fight could've fit onto the list tbh. It's essentially a metaverse for Generaiders, which because activating a field spell and the opponent drawing a card don't happen simultaneously, lets you use Generaider Boss Stage's effect to special summon a monster from the deck and flood the field with tokens. Then, there's Harr, who has an omni negate which requires you either tribute two generaider monsters or two spellcasters to use, which because of Boss Stage's tokens becomes easy to use in the deck. Generaiders love Boss Fight, and because it fits the topic of the list, I feel like it should've been on here.

15:32 I think the reason why Fusions can use face-down monsters as materials is because of some ruling that existed since the times of Gladiator Beasts. Also, non-Fusion summons rely on the game state to allow you to check the levels of the materials, as is the case with Synchros and Xyz. Not sure about Links, though.

Fusions have been able to use face-down monsters as material since their introduction, long before the appearance of gladiator beasts.

I could see Kuraz as a really funny tech-option in Meklords. Considering you're basing a deck on blowing your own field sky high to summon the emperors, I can imagine this'd be a funny way of activating them, alongside the floating those monsters probably have and supply squad allowing you to get a single more draw. A little shoehorned in? Maybe, just a thought I had...

15:40 the reason why you can use ritual and fusion summon with face down monsters is, because it is one of those "you have to know"mechanics.
for a ritual summon you simply need to know the levels
for a fusion summon you need to know the materials.
because you can always look up, what monster are set face down on your side you know always if you fullfill the requirements or not.
with your opponents monsters it is a bit tricky:
you can use their facedown monsters, if:
your fusion target only requieres a monster
your opponents monster where once face up on the field or revield in any other way before flipped face down
you cannot use their face down monsters, if:
they were just set by your opponent
they were shuffeld on the field after they were set, because you don't know anymore, where which monster is

As someone that likes FLIP monsters, it does sadden me that some powerful cards don't even see play in Duel Links simply because they've been too slow to keep up with the rest of the game.
Dark Bribe is arguably the best Counter Trap for a Starter Deck. The cost doesn't severely punish new players in a tight spot like Seven Tools of the Bandit and Magic Jammer do. Yes there are better Counter Traps, but I feel most of them are better suited for more experienced players. The ones who have played enough to feel confident enough for locals.

Seeing Dark Bribe makes me wonder just how useful a lot of the old counter trap cards like magic drain would be in the game today. I get why seven tools of the bandit would probably never see competitive play in the game today, but magic jammer and magic drain... I'm sure there are quite a few decks that could make great use of those cards.

@@delta3244 you'd be surprised how little people read. Sometimes I am forced to activate Trap Trick early and set Ultimate Crystal Magic (best described as a Drowning Mirror Force on steroids) on the field during their combo, and yet they still place everything they can on the board (even some set cards they shouldn't ever place in MP1) without any form of spell/trap removal or negation, and willingly attack.

Some notes about how you can make the most out of some of the cards in the video as someone who loves running these in gimmick decks. For one, almost all of these cards work amazingly well with Appropriate, so each time you let your opponent draw a card, you get to draw 2 for each copy of Appropriate! That means you can freely use Recall/Grand Horn of Heaven/Dark Bribe for negates while drawing through your deck each time, only getting more copies which you can use to draw even more cards!
Another option is to also add Gift of Greed/Santa Claws/Chainsaw insect or even Bistro Butcher in order to increase the opponent's drawn cards even more, then use Card Destruction and Trickstar Reincarnation back to back to instantly deck them out if they have around 10-12 cards or so in the hand from all these drawing effects, which will make them draw twice as many and is hard to stop when you have all sorts of negates yourself.
As for another card shown in the intro, By Order of the Emperor is an amazing card if you know how to use it! It can either combo well with this type of deck I described to stop the opponent's normal summon's combo starting OR with cards like King Tiger Wanghu which will disrupt the opponent but will let you draw a card and NOT interrupt you when you try to normal summon combo starters.
