Thank you, I really need this for my pride has done many wrongs. Forgive me dear Jesus, forgive me for my self centered life, please Lord guide me towards humility!!! Amen.
This was definitely for me. I find that if I expect to be treated one way and that doesn't happen I get upset instead of taking it as coming from God and accepting my cross that He has given to me. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.~John 8:32
Oh my gosh, the Litany of humility is truly wonderful! I started saying it, everyday, about 2 weeks ago. And now, I'm a changed person, a little bit. I'm less selfish.
I can't pray this pray yet, maybe some of it but not all of yet. I am going to listen to some of the videos of people praying this pray. I am going to listen to it a number of times so I can hear it over and over again and get it down in my craw. Just listening to it humbles me to think the Cardinal Val framed this pray and lived. it. I might need to study more about his life and writings.
Lol. Thank you for this! I couldn't say it, either, for years! Especially the third or last part when the refrain becomes "Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it." Now, I not only can say it, but need it. Maybe prayers come to us when we need or are ready for them.
Humbling to realize how easily imagination latches onto humility and turns it into secret pride. But no matter, if you can see what's what, that is half the battle.
Rafael Merry del Val y de Zulueta (10 October 1865 - 26 February 1930) was a British-born Spanish Roman Catholic cardinal. Before becoming a cardinal, he served as the secretary of the papal conclave of 1903 that elected Saint Pius X, who is said to have accepted his election through Merry del Val's encouragement. Pius X later appointed him as the Cardinal Secretary of State. Merry del Val's writings and example prompted greater popularity for the Litany of Humility, which was for some decades incorrectly attributed to him. A cause for his canonization was opened in 1953 at the behest of Pope Pius XII. He now has the title Servant of God.
Thanks for this video. Great homily. I got so much out of this. "Find out that humility is what gives us a profound freedom." "Humility is the acceptance of what is the courage to live in the real" "...our desires are so focused on that illusion that we miss what is right in front of us." I just started saying the litany of humility and feel kind of like Father does, but I already see the fruits and maybe one day I will be able to say it without feeling so insincere. Maybe there is a better word than insincere, but that is all I can think of now.
I LOVE this presentation and engaging explanation and learning about Cardinal del Val and Pope Pius X and their close friendship. God bless you Father!❤️
It's nice that the narrator talked endlessly about Merry del Val's Litany of Humility. The narrator should have talked more about Merry del Val's career and accomplishments as a papal diplomat. That's why I tuned into this video.
Do you guys think that Imitation of Christ by Thomas a Kempis, which teaches us that we should think of ourselves as worms and not men, is extremely toxic and the utter antithesis to true humility?
14:23 by the sins of others. I wonder what is it means to him. I was sexually molested as a child. Once at age of 5ish and then at age of 8ish I think🤔. I wonder if the demon that harrass me (in dreams and thoughts) until nowadays that I am an adult is the sin transmitted to me bc of these men and also the unstoppable harrassment of fear mainly by bloodline...🤔. Hmm, I wish the one speaking reply but I doubt it.
Lord teach me how to be truly wise and humble enough to lets your will be done in my life by living as true Christian ✝️
Simply wonderful wisdom
One of the best prayers I've ever known
Hello there again. Thank you for this. Please pray for all of us!
I pray the Litany of Humility, everyday.
Me too, muy friend, me too.
I'm starting to as well, extremely powerful and precious to us.
I recite this litany at least once a week. A good way to stay grounded 🙏🏻🕊️
“My only wish is to be forgotten
But even this is wishing too much.”
St Therese
Thank you, I really need this for my pride has done many wrongs. Forgive me dear Jesus, forgive me for my self centered life, please Lord guide me towards humility!!! Amen.
Excellent litany.
Humility is not thinking less of myself , it is thinking of myself less. C.S. Lewis
Thank you Father. God bless
This is a virtue I find easy to know I need and yet hard to practice.
Yup
“Oh Lord, it’s hard to be humble, when you’re perfect in every way.”
Yes Ruth, living as a true disciple of Christ and following HIM is were the rubber meets the road as they say. We know much but do little God help us.
I pray that everyday now.
This was definitely for me. I find that if I expect to be treated one way and that doesn't happen I get upset instead of taking it as coming from God and accepting my cross that He has given to me.

Me too sadly
Grateful to have found this.. I am happiest when I am Humble but rarely humble.. I continue to work on it and it will be a life long my journey..
I pray once per week on Fridays for the last 2 1/2 years.
Blessed Be God Forever.
I love that CS Lewis quote.. it makes very good sense. God have mercy on us sinners, all of us, to be more humble and lose pride.
I pray this everyday to keep me humbled.
This is a wonderful homily on humility. Thank you so very much!!!
Great, thank you, Father. A catholic history lesson for our knowledge and prayer for our will. How wonderful is our church.
Pride will make an angel a devil but humility will make a sinner a saint. There are no proud in heaven and no humble in hell.
Bravo,well said
Humility is knowing every good that is me comes from God.
Beautiful homily Father. Thank you.

Thank you so much. I needed this. I had forgotten about that great litany. I must get back to the root of all virtues !!!
Very thought provoking, profoundly good and really helpful in understanding this virtue of humility.

Litany of humility 7:49
Beautiful and insightful reflection that speaks to the heart.Who is the priest that gave this homily?
My sentiments exactly! Yes, who is this priest? He is a blessing!

This organization is amazing. May Almighty God bless them all.
Steve from Sensus, please start putting the priest names on the video
This one has the link in the show notes where that info is found
Thanks. It's great...
Amen
We are made in the image of God - which is freedom. This is the only true freedom. We must trust totally in God as our Father.
The Litany of Humility is painful to pray, and I doubt it will ever get easier.
Ora pro nobis

Isaiah 40:15 - - - we are less than even worms, more like dust
Whose preaching is this?
This is actually my wonderful Pastor, Fr. Christopher Smith at Prince of Peace in Greenville, SC.
@@deborahdeclue thank you!!
