I read a long time ago how important the tea scene was and I would like to share it with you: When Cuddly Whiskers serves tea it represents happiness Now that he is happy, he can easily take the cup. Bojack tries to be happy and does not succeed and ends up giving up, as with the cup. Diane is very distracted with all the things around her, instead of focusing on her happy life with her marriage, in the same way that she does not even pay attention to the fact that they served tea. It is these scenes that make me love this show even more
It’s so interesting that Diane is not perfect. Because she is so smart and next to Bojack we want to believe she is infallible, but that isn’t real. She has issues with herself, similar to Bojack. She’s a Zoe that expects more out of the world but can’t even live up to her own expectations. This is the face of depression. Not living up to your own set expectations in a fucked up world. And Bojack and Diane embody depressed people. Whether it’s being imperfect like Diane or deeply troubled and unacceptable like Bojack, most people can relate to one.
I think you missed the lyrics at the end of S3E2. They answer your questions about the fate of "The Bojack Horseman Show". Back in ‘07 I was in an unsuccessful TV show I’m Bojack the horse (Goddamn) What the hell was I thinking, bro? When you’re an artist, yeah, its hard to play it safe That show stumbled hard right out the starting gate Wonder if I’m ever gonna get another chance Maybe a listicle at best Yeah, I’m not a horse, I’m an ass. (BoJack!)
The outro music for that episode had different lyrics. It tells you all you need to know about how that show went. Here it is, for convenience: th-cam.com/video/rGtVDQNzuxY/w-d-xo.html
I don’t know if you guys saw it but during the tea scene with cuddly whiskers both Bojack and Diana struggle to reach the tea. Bojack physically can’t reach it and Diana is distracted by the things around her. The tea is meant to symbolize inner peace cuddlely whiskers was able to reach it because he gave up all the thing that took his peace away
I've seen a more generous interpretation of Cuddlywhiskers' words, and that's that you need to give up the _expectation_ that you're going to find happiness in external things, not the things themselves. So you don't need to give up love or your dreams or your belongings, but you need to stop expecting them to fulfill you, since happiness and fulfillment is a largely internal process. It's a very Buddhist mentality. But also, his words do come across as pretty literal. And both Diane and Bojack sorta did give up everything for 2 months, with disasterous consequences. I think that's why they look so dismayed afterwards.
Dunno if you girls noticed it, but Cuddlywiskers idea of happiness was to cut off connections and start anew in a place far away from his olfd life, something Bojack and Diane both did until things got out of control (Diane) or their actions caught up to them (Bojack). That's why Diane mentioned about hurting people's feelings with going away and Bojack is trying to forget what happened in mexico. It didn't work for them.
This episode & cuddly whiskers's perspective cements the show's stance on happiness. It's ephemeral. The only way to live is to recognize that fact. happiness & pain are all moments in time. Nothing outside of yourself will bring you happiness. YOUR impressions of those conditions are what define your reality.
@@rubenlopez2764 The PariView couple is so cute. Ghese Productions are reacting to BoJack too. They're on S1E10 so things are about to go down! (I love their full episode watchalong format too, though that takes a little more work to set up to watch.)
Neither bojack nor diane believe a word cuddly whisker said. Because they did give everything away in season 2. Diane gave everything away and free loaded in bojack's house for months and bojack gave everything away and lived with Charlotte's family for months, and all it did was make them more miserable than they already were.
Love your discussions of this show, but just had to credit the show for making it possible for having discussions or comments that out of context are so bizarre. Like, did Cuddlywhiskers kill a stripper? Can will Officer MeowMeowFuzzyface find the stash of heroin? lmao. And I love that they call it BoJack because it's horse. That's just...wow, the writing on this show.

Bojack and diane suck!
Tbh I find the whole "family-friendly whale strip club" concept to be less disturbing than irl SeaWorld

It was like deliberately skipped over, the 2007 Bojack Horseman show. It’s suppose to be shitty and forgotten about by society.

However, what they did in the end wasn't really Starting Fresh. It was Running Away.
And of course it didn't work.

Goddammit, 3 episodes into the season and I'm already like "Wait, why does he have the strainers again?"
I don't know but it will probably have a big payoff!

You had to watch the ending credits to the last episode to see that it was a failure.
Everything aka happiness = how. you interpret it. You can receive tragedy & trauma. but nothing defines YOUR story except YOUR interpretation.
Do you watch the intros?
They change, sometimes even just an episode later.
We always do.
