    DIY folks, please read
There are a few things you need to be careful of when completing this job.
    1. The PCV hoses break very easily. It's not impossible to reuse them or leave them attached, but a new set can be pretty pricey. Just be mindful working around it, or have a spare on hand so you're not stranded. If you manage not to break it, return your new part and get your money back. I slipped and broke clean through with just my hand.
    2. Probably the most important thing. Your injectors have 2 o-rings up top per each injector, one green and one black. When you pull the fuel rail off, there is a high chance the black rubber o-ring will come off of the injector and be sitting inside the fuel rail. When I was reassembling, I saw the green ones on the injector and assumed that's all there was and everything was fine. When I tightened the rail, the black o-rings did not seat properly and became torn. The rail was gushing fuel at the injectors. These oring kits from the dealer are 30 dollars per injector. Even on rockauto they are 12 per injector, or 3 bucks per oring at some parts stores, but some are not a guaranteed fit...
Before you put the rail in, make sure you get the o-rings out of the rail, push them back on top of the injector, and THEN push the rail onto the injectors. Hand start all the bolts but try and work it down as evenly and level as possible. After you push them down as much as you can, I recommend lightly tightening the 10mm bolts at the bottom to help seat the rail, and then start to tighten the small Allen key bolts on the injectors themselves. Once you start getting flush, fully tighten your 10mm and then your allen key bolts.
    3. Easiest way to undo the fuel rail connections at the injectors is to take a flathead screwdriver, press the tab in gently but all the way in, then using your other hand, take an Allen key wrench (L-shaped) and use the angled end to pry the bottom of the connection up. Put a little pressure on the front of the connection, and then put it to the rear. You can break these by only prying on one end, or by tugging on the wire if it's still connected. Take your time and be gentle.
    4. The red or gray safety clip on some of these connections break very easily. If you cannot pull them back easily or they only come out half way, try wetting it with a little bit of electrical cleaning spray to lube it up.
    5. My intake tube to the throttle body would not stay put as easy as it did in this video. If it gets loose it smacks the throttle body pretty hard and could easily toss debris in there or inside the engine if you have the cam cover (valve cover) off of the engine. Find a way to securely tie it off.
    6. Since you're already here, you might as well change your spark plugs if you haven't already. These plugs take a 14mm socket instead of a standard spark plug socket... my deep well was too thick to fit in the hole, so be prepared to buy a special socket.
Thank you for making this video 👍🏼

There's a way yo remove the valve cover gasket without removing the fuel rail. Once all the connections are off and the valve cover is ready to come off, angle the valve cover in such a way that there's space to overcome the fuel rail. I literally watched my mechanic do it because he didn't want to waste the unnecessary time to remove the fuel rail.
Also, that screw that has a special tool to remove it can also be removed by pliers. Just have to twist it off. It's not incredibly hard to do.

The vehicle has a change oil soon notification. I guess the owner just kept driving around with the warning light on or reset it without changing oil. That oil change would have been a lot cheaper than the work you had to do. So she neglects the maintenance and decides to unload the vehicle on someone else. I bet she will want top dollar and will not tell the buyer about the lack of maintenance and the cam sprocket issue. As usual your video was excellent. Much respect my brother.

I just had to replace the vacuum pump on a 2016 Chevy Malibu with a 1.5 turbo. I had to pull the valve cover off to get the shrapnel out of the engine. I was very lucky and able to retrieve all if the pieces and didn't see any "forbidden glitter" when I changed the oil. I modified the replacement by drilling out the oil feed port assembly to a larger diameter to increase the flow and volume to the rotor bearing to attempt to reduce the likelihood of another failure. Apparently there is a class action lawsuit for these pumps failing prematurely. Oh and as for oil changes, they have been done on time but this still happens...

The pieces were very close to the drain at the #4 cylinder. Extremely close. I only had to drive 3-4 miles to get home after the brakes failed but I also recommend not driving any further if your brakes fail. Exactly! Poor design is an understatement! Great call on spark plugs!
Mine just failed at 137k mi. I’ve owned it the last 2yrs and 80k, changed with Mobil 1 every 5000 mi.
Super clean engine but the vac pump still fails… easy enough fix, but man it was less than ideal to get a reduced engine power warning and 15sec later have a hard brake pedal while descending Colorado mountain roads at 70mph. Pucker factor indeed!
Make sure you review the codes! Local mechanic saw a fuel pump driver low voltage and told me it would need a fuel pump. Skipped over the low vac and camshaft position over advanced errors. Those codes combined with a hard brake pedal and reduced engine power, lean toward vac pump failure. Don’t get taken for a ride on $300 diagnosis, and $1000 or more for a fuel pump and driver you likely won’t need just to have to drop another $2000+ for a new vac pump, exhaust camshaft, sensors, etc.
$300 in parts buy the PCV hoses, break them and get it out of the way. Lol. eBay has the injector washers for $15-20. Go ahead and buy at least one set. A days shipping and a few hours of wrench turning and we’re back in business.
Only thing I might add to the video is double check the painted timing dots on the timing chain and gears, plus the QR matrix codes, plus the reluctor pin alignment. Use plenty of sealant jut like shown in this video before buttoning it back up.
Thanks for this video! Good luck everyone!
