9:48 for cut tests like this where there is damage to the pliers it would be helpful to see each pliers do a second cut. Some of the pliers did great the first time, but were so damaged I'd bet a second or third cut would be significantly worse. Tsunoda took 219lbs but were like new afterwards, meanwhile Crescent did better at 203lbs but definitely weren't all that sharp anymore

A thought on the metallurgy - the softer the steel of the pliers, the better they will grip. The harder the steel, the longer they will last without wear.
As a comparison, I keep copper jaws on my bench vise because of the superior grip. Those copper jaws have to be resurfaced or replaced more often. I always enjoy your videos, just wanted to add my thoughts.

Well, I can answer that query! Most of the Craftsman sockets made now are chinese crap and fail miserably in the day to day usage of a mechanic (civilian use would probably be not that big of a deal). I still have the set I bought in high school and they have never broken. Once American companies start selling out to cheap foreign labor, it comes at a cost. I have found though, that there is a major difference between chinese junk and Taiwan made ISO certified tools...the latter being much better made. If I have a choice, I buy American.

I love my Wilde flush faster pliers for automotive work as it gives better access without getting hung up on protruding plier fasteners. That being said the flush fastener reduces the cross section and thus the strength to cut nails, which I have never used them to do. Wilde tool do offer traditional non flush fastener slip joint pliers which I am sure would fair much like the other traditional fastener slip joint pliers for extreme nail cutting tests.

The same factory in Japan that makes the Vamplier brand makes the Engineer brand, which is very similar in construction, but less expensive. Some of the Vamplier pliers have springs to help spread the jaws, and come with a case that hold the spring-loaded jaws together in your pocket or toolbox, while the Engineers typically don't have springs, and the case is extra and expensive for what it is. The Engineer brand is also sold on Amazon and at other Japanese tool shops. Both brands of pliers are made for smaller hands, so you will want to get the largest size you can, if you have large hands. In addition to their unparalleled ability to remove any broken-off nail, or bolt or screw with a stripped head, they are ground in such a way that the tip will securely grab the smallest protrusion of a bolt, screw or nail above the surface and enable you to remove it.

For just a few bucks more, Tsunoda could have been the hands down winner if you had gone with the 'Tsunoda PLC-200S Slim slip joint pliers with Spring'. The slims have diagonal cut teeth like the Knipex 'Twin Grips' for improved biting grip, a spring inserted under the 'hot rivet' pin that returns the pliers back to the open position, and makes for the nicest slip joint plier action that I have ever used. And the fit and finish on them is second to none. That said, I would have like to see a x-hatch pattern on the end of the jaw.

Don't know if you're gonna see this comment but I'd love to see you do a test on combination wrenches. A set of combination wrenches is sort of the back bone of any tradesmans tool box. Proto, Snap on, Matco, Mac, S-K, Craftsman, the new Harbor Freight "professional" wrenches, to name a few. Most if not all of these have some sort of patented grabbing anti slip teeth or tooth on the open end and I'd like to see that tested head to head. Not sure how it could be done but........
Anyways I really appreciate this channel and what you do. Keep it up.

One thing I noticed that wasn't tested was how insulted they are?
As an owner of a pair of Knippex pliers now pushing 30 years old, they proudly inform the owner that they're insulted upto 1000volts (no notes on ampage though) as well as the European and UK standards they adhere to so I'd be interested to note what voltage the others would manage.

Maybe try cutting different gauges of wire. See how small they will actually cut to how big in one clean cut. I don't think the average person could even cut the smaller nail as they don't have enough grip strength. Good to show durability of the cutter though.

@@robertfandel9442 he just did the ceramic coating. And he did do something similar with scratch repair kits but I want to know how effective polishing products are. Like for example, Nu Finish is probably the cheapest one, does it perform well compared to turtle wax or Meguiars? No one has actually tested them, they just talk about how good it is but never show it.
