They seem to make a replacement for the old one and it has a couple of gadgets more but will never last like the 1st monkey bikes. How is a monkey bike a 125cc ? Its actually a grom made to look like a monkey bike Ill keep my 1969. I would never pay over 3k for a cheap knockoff. 1969 and almost done restoring it the way I like it. Faster but still original

Think long term! The old monkey bikes and basically any motorcycle without fuel injection etc can run for decades. Have a 1980 CT 110 Trail? No problem getting parts and they still make them for Australia/Asia/Africa with carbs and kick starters. The Monkey is fuel injected, electronic controls etc. and when it throws dice, you HAVE to get parts/service from Honda. This makes it a toy and not for long term screwing around on the trails like the originals--the way it is. Luckily, you can get a 2018 Yamaha TW200 and install a kick starter on it (electric start stock) rejet the carb main jet two sizes and it will run for decades and very simple/easy to fix the thing. The Monkey is cool but the complaint is it is NOT the original spirit of the old very light weight, easy to work on bike to putter around town or go on trails for a bit of fun. 235 pounds for a Monkey Bike!!!!! Maybe Honda will bring the CT 110 Trail back to the US/Europe as they cost $2,500 basically in 'Straya. I'd get one, a nice, 200 pound bike to throw in a truck or screw around in the dirt. The 125 Monkey is too heavy to be so small in the dirt yet too small to easily get around on the trails. Sure, it is now basically a street bike in dirt clothing so I hope they sell a bunch of them so the old/basic CT110 Trail will be sold again in US/Eurozones for those of us that want a simple, easy to ride machine that can take a beating on the trails (holds two people also) I like the TW200 but don't need the extra 90 pounds of weight over the CT110. For a basic around town bike that can do trails, easy to fix for decades, kick starting ability and fun... the TW200 is about it but an Australian CT110 would be the best. Crossing my fingers for the CT110 Trail--it could happen! Hope that helps

@@EVnewbie your right but in the old days Carb stuff was the only option. Your thinkik in the past not present. There will always be parts even for the PGM-Fi systems. There are plenty of Groms that made it to 100.000km and beyond. So that proofs a lot! People thay bought a monkey in the 70/80/90's never bothered about parts availibility, so why would you. Just make fun and you never know where we will be 40 years from now
