"Rapper T.I. was arrested early Wednesday in Henry County, Georgia, outside Atlanta, according to authorities.
The musician, whose legal name is Clifford Harris Jr., was arrested outside the gated community where he resides.
The Henry County Sheriff's Office said T.I. was cited on misdemeanor charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after an alleged incident about 4 a.m. in Stockbridge, south of Atlanta.
According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, T.I. did not have his key and argued with a guard, who refused to let him in.
    He has since posted bond.
In a statement provided to CNN, attorney Steve Sadow said T.I. was "wrongfully arrested early this morning when he attempted to gain entrance into his gated community -- where his wife 'Tiny' and his family reside.”

The number one thing is why was the security guard asleep on the job? This calls for automatic termination. If the security wasn’t asleep he would have seen him come in the first time

Even on the off chance that there was no racism factoring into anyone's decision making, all people involved deserve to be fired. You're a guard and you're asleep on the job, and when someone trying to get in gets confirmed as a resident but you don't let in him? A scarecrow would be a better guard. And a cop who comes to that scene and doesn't simply chastise the guard and takes the wife's word and lets him in? Waste of taxpayer money on an unethical cop.

That security guard should be fired for sleeping on the job. I’m a security guard myself, and I can tell you from personal experience that being caught sleeping on site when you’re supposed to be working is a firing offence (it didn’t happen to me, but rather to a coworker whose shifts I ended up taking over after his dismissal).

If you have to scream at me in order to wake me up, then that means that I was asleep on the job, which I already said was a firing offence. Because you can’t be protecting the business or community that you were hired to protect WHEN YOU ARE ASLEEP!!!!
Had the security guard been awake and alert in the first place, LIKE HE IS SUPPOSED TO BE, then this entire situation would have been avoided.

The guards of the $1M plus communities are regulars/tenured to that community/ long term employees....they KNOW who lives in those communities. The guards make it a point to know/recognize who lives in those communities. TI was targeted and the guard was paid to play a "I was asleep" role.

  • @athews1976
    @athews1976 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

But it's Atlanta. EVERYBODY knows who T.I. is. They knew he lived in that community. They just put him in jail because he probably tried to put down that gate guard for sleeping and being difficult about letting him in; knowing damn well who he is. You know like: You're not gonna talk to me like that. I'm calling the police.
The fact that there isn't a clear reason for his arrest tells you that there's something *petty* going on here.

Zero evidence this had to do with race, "don't know what race the security guard is" as if that even matters, and yet you can't help but feel race has something to do with it. Could it be that you believe that either race, racism, or both is hiding behind every motivation so you're trying to fit a narrative?
Let me show you the absurdity. If you leave out motivations, video, evidence and the race of the police officers and security guards, why not leave out the race of TI? All it takes is a single step further to say "Man not allowed into apartment complex while intoxicated. I dunno why, but I think race was involved, even though I don't know the race of anybody involved." It's not any more intellectually dishonest on principal.

There is a video of TI questioning the arresting officer in lock up. He appears to be pretty coherent and sober. Standing up against a wall not stumbling not falling over and not slurring his words. I call BS on this arrest and the cop in the video was a straight ass hole. If you listened to the TMZ tape the cop said roughly the coming back an acting a foll is what got him arrested. If he is coming back that sounds as if he made it to the house wanted to come back and read the guard the riot act. The guard may have mishandled the situation but TI was also wrong coming back. If TI had issue he could have taken it up with the manager or HOA the next day while sober. He likely would have gotten more done if truly felt wronged.

Robert Bogie what are you talking about. He is paying the mans salary. As T.I pointed out he paid millions of dollars to live there and the guard was fast asleep. He came back to get his name. On the tape he says I am going to report you to the proper authorities. As a home owner he is in his right. I have a doorman in my building and my fees pay his salary. As a young woman I am willing to pay for that security. So you better be doing your job and if you are not damn right I am going to question you.

"Gated Community, HOA? Just don't" Perfect advice. You're *not* safer in any of those types of homes. Especially the HOA's where the committees will spend 90% of their time harassing you over *every* minor infraction of their random, petty rules.

When a cop arrest someone they must read the Miranda rights first in this case the cop had the body camera on him and not once had the officer read the Miranda rights to ti he just simply put him in cuffs for no reason so I think ti should sue the police department or get the cop fired and the security fired because that was pure bullshit especially when ti owns two properties in that gated community....

Charged for public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and simple assault (because the security guard "felt" threatened). Charges eventually reduced to Public Cursing(because that was the only thing that would legitimately stick, bogus as that law is) to which Mr Harris plead no contest and paid $300. The guard who was totally asleep on duty and barely able to function or answer questions was later terminated, and I understand the supervisor who should have been working to deescalate the situation rather than paint Mr. Harris as the problem, was also terminated.

So... The way I read it on TMZ is that TI actually made it through the gate, parked his car and walked back to the security post at the gate. If that is the case then he is the one who is wrong. This version (TYT) makes it sound a certain way that would lead me to believe TI was wrongfully arrested. Fact checking is so important and Both sources typically do but I'm thinking TMZ's version may be a bit more correct, in this case. If TI was finally granted access, however much it was inconvenient for him, he should have gone home. He could have called the company employing the security guard, made a complaint and saved himself jail time. These times are scary for people of color. I'm definitely worried it will only get worse, however, it seems he was wrong regardless of the race of the guard if he did gain access and go back to the security post on foot. I would imagine he would have been charged with more if he had his car when the cops were called because then it would have been evident he was driving under the influence.
