    I'm glad you didn't play music instead of chatting. Although you say you weren't in an entertaining mood you definitely made the video enjoyable to watch. I always love a good prop box/up potting video 👍 thanks for sharing, whoever buys your plants will be lucky indeed 🌿👍

    Beautiful it takes a month or longer for the snake plant to start growing roots.You have to make sure that right part of the cutting is in the soil.Happy growing and stay safe.

    Quite a few plants can actually be propagated from just a leaf, without a node (like peperomia and begonia), but some will also just make roots and then never grow. Hoya kerrii is a good example of that, you often see the heart shaped leaves potted up at the store, but that will never grow into a full plant. I don't know what that plant at 15:26 is, but if I were you i'd keep the leaf in the prop box to see if anything changes, if only as a fun experiment.
    Also, sansevieria take aaaages to root, especially in such small chunks, so since they're perfectly healthy, they'll probably root, they just need more time. Just make sure they're stuck in the right way up haha

      @ThatFoliageLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi there! Appreciate the comment! Yeah any leaves/ nodes/ cuttings that didn't take, I put them into a separate box, just to see if they would root out later on, just for the heck of it haha.

      IMO they should have rooted by now. Mine only took 3 months to show little roots and now there is a tonne. What kind of conditions are you propping them in?

    Hello, Snake plants take a long long time before they show any sign of roots. Just in case you were wondering 😊 Ive done it myself and I also learned from planterina that it takes a while.

    • @emleithead5731
      @emleithead5731 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Came to say the same thing. Mine is rooting in water but it still took 3 months to show signs of roots and now it’s going nuts shaving heaps out. You can definitely soil prop too Judy, they will just take several months as well

    • @shilohharris7333
      @shilohharris7333 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Agreed! My snake plant prop in soil from probably March or April didn't do anything until I put it outside for the summer, and when I checked on it a couple of days ago, it actually had pretty good roots! It still hasn't made a baby yet, but it's working on it! My other snake plant cutting I was propping in water was also doing nothing until I put it outside in summer for about a month, and now it has good roots, but also doesn't have a new baby yet. We'll see how long it takes!

    I recently started watching your videos and they are very entertaining. I look forward to them and learning new things, although I already have my green thumb from my mom, I can keep a plant alive.The only thing which seems to be pretty easy to do is to propogate in water, but my cuttings seem to always rot at the ends where I cut them... Do you have any suggestions?

    • @ThatFoliageLife
      @ThatFoliageLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Adriana! sometimes hardening off the end of the stem can help it keep from rotting, this means to let your cuttings sit out to dry for about 12 hours before putting them in water. :)

    Great video! I like repotting videos. How long does it take to grow roots from a leaf node cutting in the prop box?

    • @ThatFoliageLife
      @ThatFoliageLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Mary! It will take usually about a month with proper humidity and light. :)

  • @guysiberry3011
    @guysiberry3011 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Interesting to see you plant newy cut stems without hardening them off. Is this process unnecessary?

    • @emleithead5731
      @emleithead5731 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Some that are highly prone to root rot like monstera albo I would definitely harden off but honestly most of mine I both soil and water prop without hardening off. Trial and error but they all root for me no worries so far

    • @ThatFoliageLife
      @ThatFoliageLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Guy, what Em said. 😍👆 I don't usually do that, I've found a great success rate in propagations even without hardening them off. :)
