  • It became obvious at the 2023 rawhiders gathering that from the time people understand the structure and mechanics of a knot or button, they can enlage bights and parts however much the to cover surface needs.

    Thanks Jan. Looks like your approach also sets the knot straight at once, which is a challenge with the "traditional" method.

      Yessir, I believe so. I can't stress it enough though that it was Billy Albin that taught me this way of tying the bomba zurda. The only thing I may have added is to always go under the first bight to understand the structure of the bomba.

    Just one question - are you left-handed? Would good to know because I am right handed und regularly I hold the mandrell with the left and lead the working end with the right... or is that a spcial of this knot?🙈

      I would say I got somewhat ambidextruous. Whenever I have to hold bights down in the beginning of a button to keep them from shifting, I hold the mandrell with my right hand. When the button is further along, I switch to holding the mandrell in my left hand and work with the right hand.
