HI! So funny story. At the start of playtesting, you couldn't drop in your own hex if it only said "adjacent" ... that has been changed and somehow I never noticed it oops! In general the power of water stuff doesn't change but it makes it a lot more useful, especially with the perk!
I feel like when I fully embraced Pool of Power, I really unlocked the class’s potential. Not having to take an extra turn to set up overwhelming wave for the first few rest cycles definitely saved me a bunch of times. Really appreciate the guides though! Definitely my favorite frosthaven content on the internet
Already played crashing tide. Fruitloop was his name because when he came into Frosthaven from the sea everybody was saying “who this fruit loop?” So he took it as his land name. He was awesome. Tanked for the team & did loads damage. He wore 3 pairs of comfy shoes that made all his bad moves move 3!

Nope, it’s basically just you as far as content that speaks comprehensively to a class. I don’t know what kind of time and production it takes to stack cards side by side, but I would LOVE a portion in these videos where you pair “combos” with the basic classes and the new unlocked classes. Not every combo of course but maybe 2-3 that are very fun to see play out.
I've played Coralina a couple of games and can't get the mechanic down, I feel useless. Can't wait to watch this! I've been looking for it for weeks lol. Thank you!
43:42 I think you got the water adjecency placement a bit wrong. Manipulating overlay tiles is a targeted ability and figures treat the hex they occupy as adjacent for the purpose of targeting. So "Blood in the Water" bottom is not special in the way that you can place water beneath you. You can also do this with all the other "...create water tile adjacent" cards. ...smash that bottom...
I loved playing Crashing Tide. I ended up getting them to level 7, and was just starting to use the boss killer combo or in a non-boss scenario, possibly a room clearer. I got the solo scenario item, which might be one of the most impactful ones of all the solo items - it allows for a tremendous combo during the end of the second rest cycle, despite it using a few loss cards. When I got the full combo off, it often trivialized the rest of the scenario as although I was low on stamina, the rest of the party could focus all their resources for the end of the scenario.
Had the game paused for a few months now, partly because I struggled with this class, so thanks for the guide! The quest I was on involved collecting elements on a star shaped map (3H solo) and basically killing a ton of enemies and collecting stuff at the extreme tips, and i just dont get how you do a ton of fighting and have cards left to actually move…. Had a similar thing in GH where i had a heavy movement quest with the poison class… after about 5 attempts i just put the game away and never played it again. Hopefully i can figure something out when i continue FH…
You can place water on the hex you're standing! The rules state that you count your hex as adjacent for the purpose of targeted abilities, and terrain manipulation is a targeted ability. Can someone confirm this? Blood in the water is still pretty good, but it's not the only card that lets you drop water on your hex. This makes the advantage perk even better imo
My Lob☆Star will soon be level 8 and as it goes won't retire until level 9. Which is good, the character is OP. Best tank, best burst if there is time to prepare.
One problem with this class, is that eve at level 9, there are only 5 cards that can create Water tiles. That’s not many, so it’s very important that you get the most out of them,and think long and hard before losing any of them as a loss card.
Retired my Crashing Tide! Patricia was her name. Retired at level 6 so never got to live the level 7 Shuck+Drown dream, so I agree with the recommendation to do the Defender build on the first unlock of Crashing Tide. My first character was Geminate and I’m still deciding what my third character should be. My choices are Blinkblade or Meteor
Level 6 felt really weak to me, I just reached that point and elected to go back and get an earlier card. You don't seem stoked about either - am I making a mistake?
In general if you want fewer tides and higher actions, element pips are great. +1 Move on Skitter is a winner. +1 move on Soft Flesh as well. Submerge is a decent candidate, some of your best attacks don't have pips which does suck for sure.
**Spoiler for Item 243** When my Geminate ended up with the Cursed Rock, I didn’t mind too much. Because I now started each scenario with three 2x cards (two permanent) versus two Null cards (one permanent). But I thought that item would be a nice, thrifty buy for someone IF they could attack at near-constant advantage. With proper card choice, careful tile placement, three perk marks and 10 gold, your Crashing Tide will enjoy a Cursed Rock of their own. Buy one for Christmas! For yourself, since no one can buy it and then give it to you. 😀
Now playing female crab. Froots sister Fruity Pebbles because … well you get the idea. No spoilers but her mechanic is pretty cool too… since I had retired a number of characters and auto leveled to 4 I got perks that helped get the “stuff” she need to do her thing. Having fun so far…
I’m trying out this class next weekend - I can’t wait! One note I thought of…with the mastery requiring more Tides than discards…if you have to, you can also rest early to make sure you don’t have too many in the discards. If you end up exhausted at the end of the the scenario because if doing this too many times, no worries - as long as your party succeeds in the scenario, you still get the mastery!
An ease-of-use tip for your friend, I recommend using Pool of Power to keep Overwhelming Wave in play while getting used to this character. The Pool of Power tide reads “you may move after you long rest” since you usually play Overwhelming Wave after a long rest on the first four rest cycles. (Standing in the same spot twice can put you in tricky situations) Not necessary if you’re at RageBadger’s skill level, but Pool of Power was very helpful for me while I developed my situational awareness with this slower-movement character. (I’m more used to jump in, jump out characters) I would also avoid using losses since the Lurker is much easier to pilot when it is on its 3-card-per-turn Tide game plan. Ali points out all the good lost actions so you can work those in as your friend builds familiarity with the rhythm of the tide set-up.
Anenome's don't have branched tentacles, and that icon definitely has at least one branched tentacle. Maybe it's a bad drawing, a drawing so bad that it can't possibly be the thing it's supposed to be, but that's why it's not an Anenome, and why I voted for Coral.
