This may have been my favorite part of their comeback concert. 2NE1 weren't active for long but they left such a huge impact on the K-Pop industry in such a short amount of time. Some of those names in this video are titans in K-Pop (IU and G-Dragon), others are far younger than 2NE1 and some idols probably weren't in school yet when they debuted, and some are carving out a name and space in the K-Pop sphere as we speak. Not only is it amazing to have 2NE1 re-unite but it's also great to know how beloved and respected they are in Korea.
I agree. I also thought however that the young men of Stray Kids definitely look unconventional for K-pop idols, and were much less... Synthetic? Is that the right word? I dunno, but they definitely stood out, along with G-Dragon. Maybe it was the fact that those two, for the guys that is, seemed the most conscious of the fact that this was 2ne1 concert, not theirs. So they kept it short and sweet. Lol That said, I must say I do love when kpop artists AREN'T synthetic and don't look like barbie dolls. I find this is usually indicative of the artists getting their position by way of their talents, not their looks. Which is just one of the reasons I love 2ne1. However, i really wish YG wouldn't have stressed the point so much all the time either. 😒 Whilst they should be there for their talent, it speaks for itself plenty. Stating it like he did was downright insulting and honestly untrue. You can clearly be there for your talent and still be attractive. It's just the approachable, natural, "i bet they ALSO have a great personality" attractuve. Which is that much more desirable to most. Not night of the living "real doll"... but I digress. Lol
Actually, YG and JYP artists are very close AND so are the companies themselves. Not only have they done a lot of survival type shows together, their idols were often used as friendly sparring competition for eschothers company to ready them for debut. (Seriously VERY friendly! They cheer more for other idols than their fans do!) In fact, that would definitely be why the groups of JYPE in particular were, well, in the video. They Stray Kids are very close to YG artists and whay might be the industries biggest hype men. Haha. Not to mention, their leader is VERY good friends with Lisa since predebut, and the group as a whole is close with Blackpink. They also have friends in Treasure, and are MASSIVE fans of Zico, G Dragon, and of COURSE 2ne1. Heck, I would argue the two guys and 2ne1 were MASSIVE inspiration for them to chase music. Specially for the producers of the group. (The two In the center.) More than anything... I think YG simply really liked them ... specially the two in the center. Lmao what can I say, they have a lot of talent those two. YG likes talent. I don't know all of the other groups that were shown, however i imagined they are talented. (I'm mostly a fan of the older GG and the one boy group. So those are the only ones I'm versed in.) But perhaps he just....likes these groups in particular. So he asked them if they would like to say something!? Odds are that's the case anyway.
