I had to giggle when you said your wood stove was your friend. My nephew built and installed mine into my truck camper and it truly is THE best thing ever. There is nothing like wood heat. Also, at 72 gathering, cutting, and chopping wood by hand is healthy exercise. I admire your minimalistic lifestyle, which I also have adopted about three years ago. Living with only the true necessities of life, traveling with my senior cat and pup, and exploring this beautiful world is keeping me young at heart and strong. Happy New Year to you, Foresty Forest. An Oregon nomad 🌲💗🐶🐺💗🌲
The wood stove is one of the best additions you have made to your van. There is something about a wood stove that you cannot get from any other type of heat. Of course, nice to have another source of heat so you don't have to constantly feed the little beast.
I don't comment often but I have to say that I admire all the work that you do in directing , filming ,editing and producing and appearing in these video as solo . I appreciate how much effort you put into making these vlogs .. I know it isn't easy
"my grocery supply is starting to hurt a little bit, I've got 3 beers left" Words spoken by a true Canadian. Happy New Year Foresty Forest! May your journeys be safe and pleasant.
I'm in Utah right now hiking across America and the snow and cold has been beating me up . Thanks for giving me another video to watch from my tent tonight
Crashed and totaled my car last night on my last day of work with this company, hit black ice and did a 180 and then went sideways into a curb and rolled over. Watching some Foresty Forest takes away all the stress and bad thoughts. I'm alive and healthy and things will work out in the end.
Glad you're OK! I rolled a car down an embankment after hitting black ice years ago, it's nasty stuff and you can't even see it until it's too late. Not fun.
Praying for you that you can reconcile this situation. You are alive, that's the best part. I did the same thing, niether my neice or me were hurt at all. Rolled my van 4 ok r 5 times before we stopped God speed to you
Your pictures and videos are probably the best on TH-cam. I love that I get to see places that I'm sure I will never be able to see in person! Thank you and happy New Year🎉
Hey, you should make a Matchbox version of your van or a RC copy of it and occasionally stick in little clips of it on dangerous side hills and cliff ledges. That would be good for a few chuckles... The Geiger Counter clicking was a nice touch!
I want to say from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you for showing those of us that want to get out there but can't. All the beautiful and amazing things, and places. Those pictographs, damn. Gave me goosebumps. So thank you. Happy bew years, and safe travels foresty forest.
Your comment about accessibility affecting the damage is spot on. Desert Solitaire by Edward Abbey is a great book about this area of the country and predicts this type of response well ahead of time.
Wow I just loved those shots of you driving through that canyon at the start . The old mines and pictographs are very cool to see . Glad you're doing well my brother , Thanks for sharing your travels with us . Happy New Year and Blessings 🙏🏻 🎸
Small spots like Nemo's are the hidden gems in these types of journeys. My friend who was restoring a few classic cars at home, would take me along on his searches for parts. He would drive until he saw a sign like "EAT", before stopping for breakfast.
The world really has changed. When I was a kid there was no signal what so ever. Now people get scared if they can't call someone at a seconds notice. Just 30 years ago you'd have to walk to a pay phone if any existed or just wait until you bumped into someone.
Happy New Year Foresty! Man those are some wonderful almost otherworldly landscapes you are exploring. A world away from what you were previously in. take care and thankyou for consitently kicking out quality content every time and taking us along for the journey.
Dunno how much shot planning you do but the inclement weather shots have been incredible: That's where you can see real skill from any videographer and you have it
You are so inspiring! What I really appreciate about you and your adventures is that you actually stop, hike and spend time in places. Showing more of what is around where you camp is the beauty. Respect. Looking forward to more of your 2022 adventures. " Hamba Kahle" is a Zulu greeting when someone leaves. I think it means "go quietly". You remind me of that by "walking lightly". Keep walking I'll keep watching. Respect.
6:14 That looks like "The Hogsback". I rode my bicycle across the US in 2007 and the description of that section on the ACA maps freaked me out. It turned out not to be anywhere near as scary as they predicted. Absolutely spectacular scenery.
Happy New Year FF. Another great video. Many years ago, I was on my placement (a year in industry - degree course) at a chemical company. One day, a work colleague showed me around the warehouse. Cut to the chase, I had a works Geiger counter and the work colleague open a sealed yellow oil drum of radioactive mine waste(uranium oxide). Yep the Geiger counter was ticking away merrily. At the time, one department was looking into how to decontaminate toxic lands. The oil barrel was a sample of those mines.
Happy New Years Forest! On a random note I think your log burner is the best edition you’ve made to your whole set up. It’s what steps it up from a living van to a home van and I love it.
Never been to Utah but you make me want to go😍 The calzone made my mouth water.. Most of your cooking does 🤤 It's years later since you've posted this one but you said it's New Years Eve and I couldn't leave you without a New Years Kiss 💋 😂 Happy Hiking Foresty 🤗🌱💙

Heck of a year for exploration. I am simultaneously intrigued and terrified by some of the geology around Utah. The air volume of that gulch and the narrowness of the road at 6:15. Great drone shots as always!
Forestry...what brought me to your channel, were the long adventure hikes you did...it seems like your videos are showing more of the van and the driving and the cooking rather than the adventure hikes.
Hi from McCall, Idaho…I have been interested in the Everette Ruse story for a long time…we have also spent a lot of time in the county you are currently exploring. Happy New Year and safe travels, thanks for another awesome video.
Happy New Year from Quebec, dear Foresty! If the lone wolf that you are was alone "physically" on that special day, rest assured that you are always in our heart. May 2022 bring you more adventures, discoveries and maybe a Lady Foresty that would enjoy the warmth of your wood stove at your side. 👫
You could maybe rig a system where the diesel heater automatically comes on if the temperature in the van goes below a certain point after the stove goes out. Would save you from having to get up.
It’s really amazing the way those tall stacks erode away, leaving a large boulder precariously perched on the top! It’s either that or some extremely strong hippies balancing enormous rock piles!
Thank you for this New Year adventure! Fearless Foresty Forest! I don't think I would see very many places like this if it were not for you! God bless and enjoy your 2022 adventures!

I've heard wood heat warms you twice. Once when you cut it and then when you burn it.
