I'm a fan of late Alhaji Sikiru Ayinde Barrister. He was the fuji creator. He was a talented musician. He was a philosopher. He was a prophet. He used his fuji music to heal the broken hearts. I'm a Christian, a Nigerian and not a muslim, but I enjoyed his music. His musics heal my soul till present. Sometimes when I can not sleep, I put his music on earphone and dozed off. Is that not marvelous in Gid's doing?
We, the fans should immortalize him not the government. I suggest that an organisation should be registered to enhance the work of late Barrister. Every year in his remembrance, a forum should be organized in Europe, in America, in Canada, in Australia in which people of high integrity should be invited to speak about his work. Both professors, government representatives, representatives of diffrent organisatios, musicians, muslims, christians, activists and free thinkers to speak in Englush, in Yoruba, Hausa and in Ibo languages. This should be arranged world wide. In this conference, donations may be collected to build a musuc centre in the direction of fuji where research and development can be organized, there can be fuji library etc.
At the moment, people are using his good name and works for selfish interest. Also, to bury enemity, stop accusing people for the cause of his death. Barrister was a person God will defend.
This is a principle of bumerrang. If anyone took part in his death, such person has taken all the problems Barruster has left behind and such person will never have rest of mind on this earth.

Kebe n'Kwara has never denied that Barrister created Fuji. Barrister created Fuji from a combination of other gendres of Yoruba music such as Apala etc. What Salawa is saying is stating and confirming what's already known. It was Barrister that encouraged Kebe to leave the Army and pursue a career as a Fuji musician and he listened to his advice. Hence, Kebe owes what he is today to God and listening to Barrister. Both are today legends, anyone saying anything otherwise are talking trash.

Gen. Kollington Ayinla never agreed that SAB created Fuji, He only agreed that SAB started releasing records before him. SAB himself admitted that Fuji was in existence before but was fading away and he persuaded Kollington to let them start it again. Records must be put straight, the interview is there on youtube. May Almighty Allah forgive him i learned ayatul kurisiyu from one of his album which he did for simbiat aya abiola. May every one of us récit kurisiyu and iklas for him.
Actually, I think people misquoted K1 statement in "flavour ", wasiu did not literarily said barrister is not the Fuji creator. Wasiu did justice by acknowledging those who started music before barrister and he acknowledged barrister as the "turning point" which he was very correct. But I think people twisted it up and that maybe because of the fact that wasiu's ego.
Music started with someone, and somebody changed the style and named it something else, that doesn't mean honor shouldn't be given to those who start med the particular thing. For instance "Research" is called research because something has been written on the particular topic before, if not it will just be called "search"
Secondly, "one man band" emanated from "juju music", now we call it one man band, meanwhile "Duro Ladipo" was the one who actually sings real one man band style. Now, how many one man band singer acknowledges Duro Ladipo?
The only thing I wish wasiu should do is humble himself and embrace all other music artists so that he too can be relevant. Saheed osupa tries to correct him stylishly, he tried to make him see that he can still correct himself and set things straight, but despite osupa's efforts wasiu is not yielding. Even, the new album "special request" by osupa this year (2020) he still tried to make the correction again by saying
...all fuji musicians should try and remember the one who founded Fuji (barusatti babawa ti nbe ni oorun), katun wa fi teni tokinleyin se (kollinton ayinla babawa tosimbe), katunwa fi teni togbe Fuji soke se (wasiu ayinde oluwawa, baba Oba orin). So let's call a spade a spade. If wasiu is just humble, people will not antagonise him at all. Because, truthbe told, if not for wasiu, all the new generation Fuji artist may not emerged when they all did.

There is no way anyone can remove the fact that Barry was the founder and creator of Fuji music. Whatever anyone could say to controvert this is a total ruse. I think it is high time the focus of this programme shift from focusing on the statement made by K1 and just focusing on promoting the image of the deceased. K1 has already said on different occasions that his statement was taken out of context. Let us assumed he was indeed quoted out of content.

I think it's about high time that this issue of who created Fuji music is put to rest as it is becoming too divisive. First of all we all need to understand that no human being creates anything but God Almighty but made it through his creatures amongst the dominant individual or group of human beings. I think what we need to understand is how the fuji mumusic came to existence in the first place. However from every evidence seen in Nigeria, Fuji music is a metaphor of "were" music which was mostly played by Muslim youths during the yearly Ramadan fastin month to help wake Muslims up for "sari" food to begin their fasting. Were is also used as opportunity for entertainment to make Ramadan beautiful, appealing, exciting and and enjoyable. This were then was played by the seniors or music Fathers to late Sikiru Ayinde Barrister, Kollington Ayinla. Some of those old folks were the first group to make records out for sales to the public. The "were" musical instruments was mainly: sakara, shekere, agogo, conga and drums. It was these same instruments that were being used with the same rythm and style for the first couple of late Sikiru Ayinde Barrister released records, as well as for Kollington Ayinla records. Yes it is true Barrister made records before Kollington but if we are to be fair to all early "were" musicians which transformed into Fuji music, no one can claim the absolute creation of Fuji music. Yes it is very true that Barrister is the one who first used the word fuji for his brand of "were" and he deserves credit for his brand, then Kollington who also introduced: jazz, piano, bata, benbe instruments to add beauty to fuji music. May Allah (swt) forgive late Sikiru Ayinde Barrister shortcomings, reward his good deeds and grant him Aljanah-firdah. K1 made a huge mistake with history of Fuji creator because it really affect his record and I know he regret it but needs to come out bold to correct himself. Alhaja should be factual about because of prosperity, what we do today unborn children will refer to later. Both Barister & Kolington reign together in those days. They were friends who started together. Dont let us stir controversies.
Kollington no doubt was a legend to be reckoned it when it comes to Fuji BUT the truth remains.......
1. Barrister and Kollington DID NOT start together.
2. Barrister started playing WERE at the age of 10 in 1958 while Kollington started playing WERE at the age of 10 in 1963. (5 years after Barrister).
3. Kollington stopped playing WERE altogether at a point but barrister kept on and eventually created Fuji out of WERE.
4. It was after the creation of Fuji that Barrister went to Kollington in Abeokuta and persuaded him to come back to music; and he did. He himself publicly confessed to this.
Summary:
***Barry started playing WERE 5 years before Kollington.
***Kollington later returned to music, started playing Fuji after Barrister has created the Fuji music genre.

What if i said i have watched video interview of Late Dr sikiru ayinde barrister in 1998 @ his 50th birthday in his room, said this.. there is the type of music they they played in LAGOS ISLAND called FUJI and because he wanted to change the were to something more professional, then he heard of one mountain in japan call Mountain of Fuji which means love and because he wanted his style of music to be within love and because of the style of Fuji that those old people has been singing on the island, that he doesnt want it to be perish just like that, then he decided to name his type of music FUJI also.. According to Late Dr Sikiru Ayinde in that interview in 1998, he was not the originator of the word called FUJI music, even though those old people kind of music was totally different from his as he claimed. In 2013, Kollington clocked 60 years because he was born in March 1953. If you don't know that it shows you're not a fan of Kollington. At age 60 in 2013, Kollington celebrated 50 years on stage. If you work that out you will come to know that he started WERE in 1963 at the age of 10.
***2nd evidence. It is a common knowledge known to almost everybody that barrister was born in 1948 and that he started WERE in 1958 at the age of 10. He sang it many times in many of his records. Kollington himself knows that truth and fact if some don't.
Barrister truly was NOT the originator of the word Fuji, it has been in use in Lagos Island as far back as at the time of King Adele. I am an Eko indigene; my name attests to that and over 60 years of age. Those who are elders in lagos will corroborate this you can find out. The word fuji is not synonymous with music alone at all, it was being used widely for anything, social activities especially. If you are good dresser, it will be said that "o gbo fuji", socialites use it, social clubs use it, WERE singers use that "a nse fuji". Fuji at the time was never a music genre. Have you heard of "Fancy lawa", "Jolly lawa" "fuji lawa"?, these are some of the tag names for WERE singers in those days. None of them played fuji music but WERE. In fact, it was Dakara music they played after WERE. Even Barrister himself after he stopped WERE it was Sakara he played before he created Fuji.
Have you wondered why none of the WERE singers like Saka Laigbade, Kasali Alani etc NEVER came out and said they sang fuji music before they died? Its simply because they knew knew the truth that there was no fuji music at the time and they never played music.

Barry created Fuji and no controversy about that,before Barry started singing Fuji,no yoruba musician ever called his music fuji but they called their music Sakara and Apala,Barry was the only person singing Fuji and no other musician criticised him at the time and later he called Kollington to join him to sing Fuji because kollington only knew how to sing weere but when kollington started his own band then he started copy Barry kind of music which is fuji but pride won't allow kollington to give kudos to Barry,when others realised that fuji music was very interesting they too started their own bands and started singing fuji as well

The issue of creator of fuji music should have been addressed by Dr Sikiru Ayinde Barrister while he was alive. I am not sure anyone can be more authoritative, not even Alhaja Salawa Abeni.
