I finished in 11.24 - woke up with the shits & felt sick all day & couldnt get carb mix or electrolytes down me - the Ramaz was a war zone mid afternoon & absolutely broke me into a million pieces. Somehow found something to get myself to the end. Anyone who finished literally deserved a medal. But despite all that it was bloody brilliant & I will touch wood be on the start line again next year
The feed stops are so much more civil when you're in the front. Time Code: 5:10 In 2019, I was in like 6 or 8 wave, and getting water at the top of the Roselend was basically a Rugby scrum.
@@saffacyclist7289 I was in wave 11 in 2019 and remember the top of the Roseland as being super crowded. Were you part of the group all riding in RSA jerseys ?
I gave this year a miss after the absolute debacle of getting back from Alpe Dhuez to Briancon last year gave me PTSD. Did the 312 instead which was nowhere near as well organised as the Etape. Glad I can live this year vicariously through you Cam!
respect your honesty cam 👌 even for someone like yourself who rode at elite level it just makes you appreciate the standard of pro tour riders.well done btw💪🚴
Rode the same E'tape as you this year and whilst I pretty much mirrored your experience, I probably suffered twice as hard and did double your time lol - great day tho!
Well done Cam Absolutely flying. Did this event, took me over 8 hours the Ramaz totally broke me! Impressed you only stopped once! You looked mega strong!
Love this, did the JP in 2016 etape, wan't so hard that year as they shortened the stage. Think last year was. my most brutal etape, Alpe D'Huez at the end was horrendous! Nice job
I did the Gap Alpe D'Huez L'Etape many years ago. It was either 2 days before or after I'd done Marmotte (they're both a blur lol). Fun but incredibly hard, the heat was tough towards the end.
Your Wahoo looks as loose as mine before it fell off in a race, if it’s worn down you can get a 3d printed back for it that can be glued to the back of the wahoo
Unfortunately i never made the start. Mechanical issues with the rear wheel after spending 2 hours at neutral service on Saturday and the issue was still there so deciced on Sunday morning when going to the start . The risk of not getting to the end and possibility of the rear wheel locking up was too high . So wentvand spent the day at lake geneva
I did the 2019 and finished at the top of Val Thorens - in a bus. It was 40 degrees at the Telegraphé and at the middle of Val Thorens they stopped us and shoved us in the bus. My soul was destroyed.
Great vid Cam really enjoyed that, looked like such hard work but the views and overall satisfaction of completing it probably more than made up for it! Would love to do this next year. Top vid 👍🏻
We arrived in morzine on the day before the race for a week of downhill 👌🏻. Some achievement for just being able to complete the stages around morzine top job cam 🍉
Ah Cameron you make the very best cycling vlogs. You edit and film them so well. Felt all the pain on this. Just make more content mate because you should be filling your boots out of this.
Would say big Well Done. Obviously nowhere near ‘race fit’..but I would say carrying memory mentally and physically. Good Ride! Yes I agree,Cycling in France is hard to beat, especially in the mountains.
la ramaz was absolutely a finisher especially before the tunnels, started 1h30 later than you as it was my first etape du tour, had no race reference so they didn't authorize for a earlier start, and boy that heat actually joux plane felt easer because a bit less south exposed but i drank and ate much more than you ( 5 maurten 320 drink mix, a few gels )
Watched this while at the gym, made me suffer a little less seeing what you went through! What position did you end up getting if you don't mind asking?
I had cold watermelon after a ride in Portugal and it still makes my mouth water. Could have been the worst watermelon in the world but at that moment…❤
These 'Amateur' tough day rides are harder than pro races because you don't get to sit in a Pelaton . I know the pro level races are higher speed but they also get fuel and water consistently.

Everyone who finished literally GOT a medal!
Massive kudos to you for getting through an impossible sounding day.

Imagine wave 11 haha!

Fun fact. The descent of the Joux Plan to Morzine, in winter is a great ski run - I’ve snowboarded down it loads of times - fun times
Rode the same E'tape as you this year and whilst I pretty much mirrored your experience, I probably suffered twice as hard and did double your time lol - great day tho!
Well done Cam

Awesome cam, great video as always man! chapeau
You have finished and survived! That is what counts. Well done!
Col de Ramaz cracked everyone that day..will never forget the temperature drop once we hit the long tunnel..from like 40 to 15 degrees
Great vid Cam really enjoyed that, looked like such hard work but the views and overall satisfaction of completing it probably more than made up for it! Would love to do this next year. Top vid 👍🏻
Well done mate, great ride, great video!
Bad A$$ - Another Excellent Episode Brother C - Also, That View From Under Your Bars Rips - Way Cool
Stay Strong,
Cheers
I rode the CJP this morning, it's not easy going, wouldn't have fancied two others.
I do this most years but a lot slower. Thanks for showing me what it looks like at the front.
We arrived in morzine on the day before the race for a week of downhill 👌🏻. Some achievement for just being able to complete the stages around morzine top job cam 🍉
Congrats mate. Well done.
Ha! Watermelon I thought that very thing last year, amazing should be at every sportive. 👏 Cam
Respect for wearing an aero helmet in that heat, with those climbs 😅
Well done Cam 👏 Fantastic video and you got to the end. Watermelon was at my trail run race the other weekend and it's so so good 🍉😋Chapeau 💪
Brilliant mate. Mind over matter. One pedal at a time 👊🍻
Dear Mr Jeffers, I also wrapped my number around the head tube and i blame this for my lack of official time. Did your chip work?
Well done and great footage! What kind of camera and mount are you using to get all of these angles?
What do you use to film? Looking for something to film with on my bike and whatever you use looks a great option!
Ah Cameron you make the very best cycling vlogs. You edit and film them so well. Felt all the pain on this. Just make more content mate because you should be filling your boots out of this.
Only TH-camrs get up at 5:11 🤭 But you got my vote on the watermelons 🍉
Would say big Well Done. Obviously nowhere near ‘race fit’..but I would say carrying memory mentally and physically. Good Ride! Yes I agree,Cycling in France is hard to beat, especially in the mountains.
Fair played Cameron that’s tight
The cruel part is from the top of tbe CJP there's a nasty little kick up, nothing long but totally uncalled for..
always enjoying a good old sufferfest :D

Mega mate 👊👊👊👊
Nice ride.

The funny thing is when I type your name into the results site nothing comes up?
What a great video
The alarm gives me ptsd
I think your wahoo is ready to fall off.
horse category climbs
Regard lr vidio de remco evnpol the youtube
Nice video, thanks - BUT the Etape isn't a race. This is a challenging sportif and a great ride but NOT a race.
Great effort, few friends have done this event, all of them suffered in the heat big time.
