If there is a better collection of Mazdas anywhere in the world I'm not aware of it. My family has had Mazdas for 50 years and in my view are the best car manufacturer in the world. The old Mazdas like these are better than the current crop though which lack the innovation of yesteryear.
The Frey collection is a very well organised museum in a stunning location. And there are many more cars than those displayed, so there is some rotation in the exhibition. Well worth more than one visit! As for the quality of newer Mazda, I can't really say. The newest I ever owned was a JDM 1997 Mx5 1.8 iS. Fabulous little car with excellent build quality.
The quality of modern Mazdas is fine, but today you won't find the original engineering and innovation of a Cosmo Sport or R100, the aesthetics of a 1500 or 818/RX3 coupe, the unbelievably cheap purchase price of a 1300, or the innovation and practicality of the first 323. These were the halcyon years of Toyo Kogyo.@@xntrcshft
