Can’t beat Lacoste. On top of still having some of the most high quality shirts, Lacoste offers so many cool colors. Wash them on delicate in cold and air dry and they’ll last forever.
I used to go through polos really fast and became frustrated with how quickly some of the pique polos would deteriorate or lose their shape. Then I discovered the Arcteryx A2B polo. I've had several for years now and they look just as good now as they did as when I bought them. The collars stay sharp and they keep their color and shape.
I don't care for pique. 100% cotton ok, but a little polyester thrown in allows for longer life, better drape. my faves are costco polos: good quality, excellent stitching doubled at neck and shoulders, come out of the dryer looking fab. Very xlnt price, too. I'm not into the high falutin' 'name brands'....high price does not necessarily indicate good quality or fit.
Ralph Lauren polo shirts shrink and expose my belly button after 2 washes. It also stretches soo much and I can fit my knees and torso in the shirt. Waste of money.
Ralph Lauren or even Gant Poloshirts quality are just so bad. I mean colors like black or marine looks faded out even if the polo is brand new in the shop. That's why i prefer Lacoste. Yes, it's as same expensive like RL, Tommy or Gant but the quality is the best imo.
Most of mine are Banana Republic - a few pique and some are the "luxe touch". Wait for a sale and you can get them cheap (plus more off with the BR visa). I line dry and the pique come out completely smooth, no wrinkles but once I put one on it will wrinkle if you just sit or do anything. The luxe ones are simply great. Very soft, no wrinkles off the line and hold up well. Only complaint is the collars (THE big polo complaint) and although some people hate them I use the stick on triangles. I trim them to a specific shape and they work great but do add about 90 seconds to the task of dressing. I also have A Lucky Brand polo that I love although it "pilled" really bad after one wash/wear. I've worked on it a few times with a de-piller and it's a go to super casual polo now. It's like a t-shirt but with a collar. Again got it on sale for like $18.
As for Fit and Quality, nothing can beat LACOSTE. I have one in Navy Slim Fit - LOVE it! I want to get another pair in this Khaki Green. It just seems like the Alligator Logo is a retro trend compared to Ralph Lauren's Polo Horse which is classic. Nonetheless, I will still rock Lacoste regardless. I like the color of your Lacoste Polo.

Nice review! I want so badly to like Lacoste polos, they just represent timeless European casual chic to me since I started seeing them in the '60s. My first ones I bought as a teenager wore so beautifully, getting thinner and thinner but still holding together and ending up almost feeling like silk. I owned a few of those for decades, literally going through hundreds of washes. I have not had any luck with them since the '80s, though every few yers I buy one to try it out again, even though I don't expect the same quality as the originals, I doubt that quality of cotton even exists anymore. But I'm inevitably disappointed, I find the fabric a bit too thin, and I always end up with little holes around the collar seam or on the button plaquette seam, buttons falling off, frayed sleeve cuffs, and they never feel very soft. I just think they use cheap cotton, perhaps there are some that use better but buying them in various European countries always yields the same result. i'm wearing a navy one now, but only to kick around the house as there's a hole in front under the buttons, one of which fell off, and a hole where the body meets the collar. I also have a white one that is actually see-through after a few washings, and it always comes out of the wash stiff and cardboard, unlike any other polo I own. I take care of my clothes, wash at 40°C, and hang dry, there is no excuse for it. My favourite has become the Sunspel Riviera, expensive at $135 in the US but they are impeccably tailored and the cotton quality is the best there is, and the colour selection is spot on, lots of choice and really beautiful shades of every colour.I find the fabric weight and hand feel just perfect, really luxurious, but still cool in the summer. I order them direct from the UK to Switzerland and they come in under $100USD, a real bargain.

Certainly a very comprehensive overview of what’s available in polo style shirts. I was attempting to keep track of how many polo’s you have, but lost track. Worth mention that Lacost is a brand like ckj, they have a lot sale events year round. All my Lacost polos were bought at around 60$. You rarely pay full tag price for these brand....
Price doesn't always equal quality. I'm super obsessed with my clothes and yet. I have machine-washed HM polo shirts, they haven't moved and cost 12 euros each. On the other hand, I have an RL that I paid 100 euros for, I washed it once at 30 degrees, it shrank by 5 cm and is therefore a little tight. Same problem with the Fred Perry M3600 cotton polo shirts, yes they are beautiful but quite fragile when washed. It is therefore necessary to wash them by hand in cold water to prevent the stitches from tightening when washing under the effect of heat. Cheers.
Surprisingly good value (if you don't insist on piquet knit)-- Lands End. They are tolerably made, and have long fittings as well as the usual. For MTM, try VASTRM.
I love my Banana Republic Luxury touch polos. Especially given that you can get them for $25 or so on sale. Their vintage polo was an awesome polo meets henley, but they discontinued it...
Suggestions for someone with a really wide/thick neck? I'm not a huge fan of polo collars that stand up and accentuate that sort of thing - it creates a cartoonish "meathead" sort of look. But I'm unsure what the best approach would be. My theory is that a collar that stays down (similar to how your Lacoste looks in this video) and isn't quite as snug (maybe it sits "lower"/farther away from my neck, as if the collar was wider and meant to hit further down on the shoulder) would create a nicer and slimmer silhouette. I don't know if that's a naive thought or not, so turning to someone with some expertise. Really enjoying your videos - learning a lot and appreciate how sensibly to-the-point they are with no gimmicks or annoying over-the-top antics.
I have found that Rhone has some really awesome clothing. You also like workout clothing , you’re missing out if you don’t try them. I love their clothes.
I love polos and currently have about two dozens of them. They are like the only kind of top I wear in the summer. My bang-for-the-buck, and best button-down collar, polo, is hands-down Spier and Mackay. Another one of my favorites are the Brooks Brothers supima cotton performance polo (still pique, but nice trim fit compared to some of their other fits). My experience with Lacoste has been hit-or-miss, fit-wise. I have a Bonobos in slim fit size M, ended up a tad too tight. Same goes for slim fit from Fred Perry. Recently also picked up a Naadam cotton/cashmere polo on sale for like 27 bucks, super comfortable and more like a tshirt with a collar than a polo. Uniqlo also makes a good button down collar polo but I too find their material a bit too flimsy. Definitely going to try Kent Wang next.
Great video. I wear polos at work. I like penguin ones but they vary in length and the ones that have no give in length shrink to, too short. So I thought ok, liquid cotton CK. Same exact thing, shrinks too short. Finally, BR their version of liquid cotton. Doesn't shrink and they had all polos 50% off. Honorable mention, Eddie Bauer for a tech fabric work polo, lifetime warranty. I will try some of these. If they lay flat on your torso with no break, no can do but will try out the ones that have size tall mediums.

Great video! I have J Crew and UNIQLO and am happy with both. One thought on UNIQLO: their pique are better than the Airism and the fit is perfect for me (I typically wear a trim fit) and I love that the sleeves are narrower and nicely hug my biceps (better than J Crew trim fit). Definitely looking forward to trying Bonobos and Mizzen & Main (my go-tos for dress clothes).
Another great video. Glad to see this channel is growing in subs. I've lurked since around 5k and always thought this was a diamond in the rough amongst the mens fashion channels. I also recently discovered Banana republic luxury touch polos which are pretty good. $50 retail but can get for just under $30 dollars. Feel like amazing quality so far for the money, but will need to see how they hold up over washes. Btw is pique pronounced that way? I always thought it was said like "peak"
Spier & Mackay put out a great Pique polo (short and long depending on season and stock) and very reasonable at around $30-40 and with sales I got almost 10 for about $12-15 each!
Even the new ones? Fabric is much different than my old one. Sounds like you need that thick heavy gage Spoke Pique or the Bluffworks. Didn't think I needed a chest hair concealer pick but that's why you guys make me better! 😜
Hello The Kavalier, I know this is an old video but in case you get to read this, please what is the size of the lacoste Polo you are wearing. I would really love to know cause it's is so hard getting the information especially about Lacoste Polos. I am an International viewer as such dont have the luxury of returning the Polos if it doesnt fit. We wear about same sizes @ 6'2 and 190lb, and follow ur every recommendation on sizing which is always spot on especially with shoes. I found it disheartening that of all the Polos on the list the only one without the sizing is the Lacoste, Arghhh. Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

In my opinion, HUGO BOSS polo's are better fitting than the Lacoste ones. Armani Exchange ones are also nice. Then, there is the classic Polo RL custom fit.
I am curious how you would compare The Armoury polo with these. Obviously price wise there is a huge difference, but I’d like to know your thoughts on whether the quality and fit could justify having one verses a few.
I have 3 polos from Untukit that I love. 1 is a pique, the other two are an amazingly soft cotton. All three fit great and are priced nicely. Give them a try!
I have 13 polos. Costco kirkland my fave due to price and quality, also a few pebble beach. A fave is US Army vet. Such ez care....into the wash, then the dryer, ready to go. Acceptable anywhere these days: church, symphony, you name it. I have no longsleeved dress shirts or dressy slax but do have a nice navy blue sportcoat and some cool beans jeans. L8R, G8Rs! I'm 74....does that count?! 😅😅😂

I almost never wore polos cuz I’m a bigger guy stuck in between xxl and xxl tall and they always fit funky mostly I have a stomach I bought two nautical polos recently after washing they both shrunk and the one fits OK but boxy the other is massive. Bought same exact polos in dif colors. They r not comfy and they are boxy. They are a blend cotton and poly. What is the most comfy material for a polo and best way to measure for one for my shape.
Dude, what happened to the Banded bottom polo. Earlier this spring/summer Banana Republic was selling several styles and colors of knit banded bottom polo shirts. The banded bottom polo can be dressed up and dressed down, its extremely versatile. Banana Republic had several bright and muted colors, different weaves and fits, and I caught them all on sale😉, eveven Lands ' End had/has some very comfortable supima cotton banded bottom polos, with a nice fit (although I did get them tailored for a slimmer look)

I have to admit, I've been quite disappointed with Uniqlo recently: quality control, change in sizing, and design has really gone down recently. I guess they just want to keep cost low. Only thing I really like uniqlo now for is undershirts and socks (for some reason uniqlo is really good at knits). The fabric is just too thin on most woven things now (shirts, polos, etc), and the cuts are weird sometimes. The hoodies do have a nice cut if like minimalist stuff, and they used to have a super hardy fabric for khaki's (west point?) that was nice, but all the cuts now are weirdly baggy, maybe its that "slouchy" look I hear about.

Hello, I m finding it hard to find a polo shirt that would fit me in length. I'm 178 cm, not so thin guy. I be tried Lacoste and Ralph Lauren classic and custom/ regular fit and sent back all polos I've bought. Whenever I buy slimmer fits to fit me in length more I'm ending up with tight upper body, going vice versa I have a hem below my crotch. Would you be able to recommend some quality brands that offer polos better suited for shorter men? Preferably available in Europe

it is always my go-to option when I am not sure if a shirt is too formal. Lacoste has my size which is perfect for someone skinny and short! haha
i bought some RL custom slim fit polos, but was shocked at how quickly they developed pilling in the armpit area within a month.

adamr63 sunspel is great, I have a couple of them, but the color tends to fade quicker than some cheaper polos.

Very cool overview. Odd timing since we are moving towards the Fall in the Northern hemisphere, but a really nice and comprehensive overview. I’d be curious of merino wool T’s and Polos. I made the switch to merino a few years ago and don’t wear much else year round.
I didn't even think of my merino polo but I do love it. Someday I'll be able to stick to my own schedule...

Great video! I have J Crew and UNIQLO and am happy with both. One thought on UNIQLO: their pique are better than the Airism and the fit is perfect for me (I typically wear a trim fit) and I love that the sleeves are narrower and nicely hug my biceps (better than J Crew trim fit).
Definitely looking forward to trying Bonobos and Mizzen & Main (my go-tos for dress clothes).

I also recently discovered Banana republic luxury touch polos which are pretty good. $50 retail but can get for just under $30 dollars. Feel like amazing quality so far for the money, but will need to see how they hold up over washes.

Spier & Mackay put out a great Pique polo (short and long depending on season and stock) and very reasonable at around $30-40 and with sales I got almost 10 for about $12-15 each!

I like Lacoste because of their slim fit and their pink is a nice soft hue.
I like the idea of a Mizzen Main pole, but you can see my chest hair through the fabric.
Even the new ones? Fabric is much different than my old one. Sounds like you need that thick heavy gage Spoke Pique or the Bluffworks. Didn't think I needed a chest hair concealer pick but that's why you guys make me better! 😜

Hello The Kavalier, I know this is an old video but in case you get to read this, please what is the size of the lacoste Polo you are wearing. I would really love to know cause it's is so hard getting the information especially about Lacoste Polos. I am an International viewer as such dont have the luxury of returning the Polos if it doesnt fit. We wear about same sizes @ 6'2 and 190lb, and follow ur every recommendation on sizing which is always spot on especially with shoes. I found it disheartening that of all the Polos on the list the only one without the sizing is the Lacoste, Arghhh. Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

In my opinion, HUGO BOSS polo's are better fitting than the Lacoste ones. Armani Exchange ones are also nice. Then, there is the classic Polo RL custom fit.

I am curious how you would compare The Armoury polo with these. Obviously price wise there is a huge difference, but I’d like to know your thoughts on whether the quality and fit could justify having one verses a few.
I have 3 polos from Untukit that I love. 1 is a pique, the other two are an amazingly soft cotton. All three fit great and are priced nicely. Give them a try!

I have 13 polos. Costco kirkland my fave due to price and quality, also a few pebble beach. A fave is US Army vet. Such ez care....into the wash, then the dryer, ready to go. Acceptable anywhere these days: church, symphony, you name it. I have no longsleeved dress shirts or dressy slax but do have a nice navy blue sportcoat and some cool beans jeans.

I almost never wore polos cuz I’m a bigger guy stuck in between xxl and xxl tall and they always fit funky mostly I have a stomach I bought two nautical polos recently after washing they both shrunk and the one fits OK but boxy the other is massive. Bought same exact polos in dif colors. They r not comfy and they are boxy. They are a blend cotton and poly. What is the most comfy material for a polo and best way to measure for one for my shape.
Dude, what happened to the Banded bottom polo. Earlier this spring/summer Banana Republic was selling several styles and colors of knit banded bottom polo shirts. The banded bottom polo can be dressed up and dressed down, its extremely versatile. Banana Republic had several bright and muted colors, different weaves and fits, and I caught them all on sale😉, eveven Lands ' End had/has some very comfortable supima cotton banded bottom polos, with a nice fit (although I did get them tailored for a slimmer look)

I have to admit, I've been quite disappointed with Uniqlo recently: quality control, change in sizing, and design has really gone down recently. I guess they just want to keep cost low. Only thing I really like uniqlo now for is undershirts and socks (for some reason uniqlo is really good at knits). The fabric is just too thin on most woven things now (shirts, polos, etc), and the cuts are weird sometimes. The hoodies do have a nice cut if like minimalist stuff, and they used to have a super hardy fabric for khaki's (west point?) that was nice, but all the cuts now are weirdly baggy, maybe its that "slouchy" look I hear about.
I will only buy polos with collar stays and I replace the plastic pieces with Würkin Stiffs magnetic collar stays that make those collars always pop.
Question, maybe about care for polos? My polos get stiffer over time and washing. Is this from bad care, poor quality, or both? How should I be washing polos???

Hello, I m finding it hard to find a polo shirt that would fit me in length. I'm 178 cm, not so thin guy. I be tried Lacoste and Ralph Lauren classic and custom/ regular fit and sent back all polos I've bought. Whenever I buy slimmer fits to fit me in length more I'm ending up with tight upper body, going vice versa I have a hem below my crotch. Would you be able to recommend some quality brands that offer polos better suited for shorter men? Preferably available in Europe
Try nautica and giordano - the regular fit.
To make them last longer air dry them and don't use the dryer
