Are you a fan of pattern merging, too? Chapters included in description! I'll be back next week to share a fabric haul I recently got--hoping to start sewing some of it up this weekend : ) Happy sewing!

Rachel Ann, I appreciate your honesty and your willingness to share tips in how you sew your garments. I am new to sewing clothing and am also short in stature, so am continually having to modify patterns to fit my body size. It can be very frustrating because it takes me more time and effort to complete a project . I also like your creativity in hacking a couple of patterns to make something completely new.
Your dress is very pretty and looks great on you!

Hi! I appreciate your kind words! I definitely had a big learning curve when I first started and would spend so much time altering a project to get it to fit right. Keep sewing! You will learn how to better modify/shorten/adjust the pattern pieces to fit your body. I am definitely still learning, but it has gotten better.😆 thank you so much for being here and happy creating!

Wow! Teddy Blake bags are beautiful. I love the interior. Your dress is gorgeous! I agree that those elasticized sleeves are amazing. Nothing more satisfying than sewing your own clothes.

Beautiful dress!!! However, sometimes there is no need for pattern merging and so many alterations if a better starting pattern exists and that is m6838 view B with the slit. It is lined and requires boning which adds to the difficulty, but I made it as a complete beginner for my sister’s wedding out of silk dupion and turned out amazing!

Your dress sounds lovely! Using dress boning is some thing I have not yet attempted but it’s definitely on my list. Happy happy sewing to you!🪡🧵😊

Beautiful dress I made a very similar dress with McCall's 8034 with almost identical fabric and had the same issues with fitting due to the fabric not stretching I love the pattern but next time I'll use a fabric with some stretch

Ohh your dress sounds like one I’d like! I’m there with ya on using fabric with a bit of stretch as well!
