Square Enix has always made excellent cgi trailers/movies, even when you go back to the 90's early 2000's with FF9 and Chrono Cross their FMV's are still amazing
Hope you enjoy your time back in FFXIV! I've been playing playing since 1.0, but my brother hopped over from WoW recently and has been having a blast. Long term players will always have their complaints - is our job as MMO players to complain hehe, and the release schedule, while consistent can also be predictable, which is something that can be a bit frustrating as a long term player. However! I'd rather have predictable and more than unpredicatable and little!
I'm a 1.0 player as well :) Started in 1.15 and loved the game ever since even if some content did not grab me as much. But I don't complain, just wait patiently for when they give me what I love. Plus playing a game where the producer and development team send genuinely happy to make, just make me know the game will be good as they do listen to us even if we don't get everything we want. When I see wows ion and lore answer question, they don't seem to care at all and have not done so for the last few expansion. Just bare bones content to keep collecting those monthly subs

I’m not sure how far into the game you are, but the valkyrie (karibu) and lion creatures are seen in The Lost City of Amdapor (Hard). But the ones there are just statue representations of the ones in the trailer. They’re creatures of the light. In HW during the warriors of darkness ark they talk about how their shard was taken over by light and there is no balance. Minfilia, who is now a part of Hydaelyn, goes to try to help that shard. So in this next expansion we travel to the first through crystal tower. Eorzea is on the source, which is the main crystal (Hydaelyn). Hydaelyn and Zodiarc are light and dark. In a feud Hydaelyn was injured and 13 shards fell from her. Those are the 13 other worlds. Every time there is a calamity on Hydaelyn one of the shards gets plunged into darkness or light. So in the Crystal Tower raid we travel to the World of Darkness, which is one of the shards. It’s a lot of lore, but everything is explained and it’s pretty interesting. Haha. I suck at explaining, but I hope it helped you got an understanding
I left WoW after close to 15 years. Couldn't take it anymore. BFA was the last straw. Moved to FFXIV and it's such a better game for me personally. Welcome to us and our new MMO heaven.
Back in the day, my nephew and I played 3 MMOs. We would play one until it got stale then we would play another. Cycled between 3 kept it feeling fun an fresh.
Well one to the ff14 community my man:) Dont feel discouraged on wow; maybe you're just burned out and need something new an fresh to take off the edge. It's always a good thing to switch up your games so they dont become old. Hope you have fun while you're here with us, hyped for this expansion!!!
I am so glad that they brought back the concept city from pre 1.0. Look up Project Rapture. The city i refering to is the one with the crystal tower and dancer.
Yeah. We were watching the trailer and I said to my bro "hey, that's the city from that 2009 teaser!" Looks like you've done Flames of Truth already, but Heavensward trailer has spoilers, so wait until you've finished the quest "Before the fall" to watch that trailer. Similarly, if you want to experience the Stormblood trailer like we did then wait until you're in the 3.4-3.5 content (or finished "Far Edge of Fate" quest if you want to just wait until the end of HW) to watch the Stormblood trailer. Like you saw with Shadowbringers there are TONS of references in their trailers to story beats that have more impact if you've experienced the story to that point.
Also, kind of new to your channel but when FFXIV warns you to set aside sufficient time to watch the cutscenes it would be a good time to record your own reaction video if you're into that. I've had fun watching Final Fantasy Peasant react to some of the story beats, like the end of A Realm Reborn where some serious stuff goes down (that gets thoroughly spoiled in the Heavensward trailer). If you're an old school FF fan, which it seems you are, then the MSQ of FFXIV will feel familiar and rewarding. Stick with it!
If you enjoy FF XIV and you haven't watched it yet, i'd advise you to check out ''FF XIV A realm reborn: story of the waning of the sixth sun''. As you know, 1.0 servers were shut down with the amazing cinematic showing Bahamut getting out of Dalamut. In this video, Louisoix narrates the story up to that point. What the garleans did, how did they find out about Dalamud, his own toughts when he saw Bahamut being set free, etc. Its really awesome stuff. I don't know where it came from, but i guess this was some kind of extra stuff you got by buying the physical edition of ARR when it was launched, not sure. Yep. I had never played Pay-To-Play MMOs before FF XIV (though I had wanted to get into 11, but I was never able to do so as my parents couldn't see the logic in paying a monthly fee for a game I had already bought....though in retrospect I'm actually glad that I didn't start off in 11 for a couple reasons: first I would probably have gotten totally turned off the moment I met Shantotto [to this day she irritates the hell out of me so much that all I want to do is punt her into the sun whenever I so much as hear her voice], and second I probably would have wound up getting tangled up in the 1.0 mess that was the original FF XIV and may never have come back even once A Realm Reborn came out). But now? FF XIV is by far one of the best MMOs I've ever played and is in my Top 2 as far as having the nicest MMO community (with it's only competitor being a Free-to-Play MMO that's no longer available outside of Japan in Shin Megami Tensei: IMAGINE Online) I've ever been a part of.
Yeah, 8 wasn't my first FF game (that distinction goes to 7, and I'll always be grateful to the friend who got me into the series by showing me FF7) , but it was my favorite of that console generation. Only thing that would have made me happier than seeing the Squall reference via the Gunbreaker class (and the Revolver being a Shadowbringers pre-order exclusive) would have been for us to get a vanity weapon of both the Revolver and of Seifer's gunblade (I always liked the design of Seifer's gunblade over Squall's revolver, as well as Seifer's combat stance).
I highly recommend anyone who has not done so already to go through the old Crystal Tower raid questline if provided you have the time to do so and really pay close attention to the story surrounding it. Take some of the information thrown at you in that questline with a grain of salt because the truths you as the warrior of light come to find out about the tower are in fact not entirely true or because of your and others actions on the source (your world) have altered the information you once thought to be fact. This is probably a very good time for people to get into doing the crystal tower because there is more than likely an increase in people running that content to learn more about it. Also if there is an increase it will be helpful with queue times as this content isn't part of the main story and is side content so people newer to the game may have overlooked or missed this content on their way to level cap.
This. I started during Heavensward and basically people told me "don't bother going back to Crystal Tower. Queues are bad and it's a throw away side quest anyway." I went back and did it Saturday night and I wasn't the only one for sure. Queue times were near instant and several people were at all the quest points. 😂 If you haven't done Crystal Tower go back and do it while it's hot.
You're playing through Stormblood, so you should already know.... However, I shall tell you. You've already met, fought, and defeated the Warriors of Darkness. They've explained already they defeated the Darkness(Zodiark) in their world, but in doing so Light consumed the universe and burned it away. They escaped and our Zodiark helped them become the Warriors of Darkness. They warned us of our actions and that with each evil we repress, we come ever close to a luminescent oblivion. The trailer is showing the Warrior of Light fighting against the Light and trying to save the world with Light. However, it's not Light that will save the world.

If you haven’t done the Crystal Tower storyline, be sure to do it. There’s a lot of background there that will explain some of the lore going into Shadowbringers.
As someone who started ff14 recently. I am curious. So basically, the world needs balance or else one side will consume the other. The result is one side wiping out the other is total obliteration regardless.

Cool video btw ^^ And about those bosses in the trailer, they are from the lvl 60 dungeon Lost City of Amdapor Hard Mode Hope you enjoy those bosses, right now they will die so quickly tho, but in the trailer really means something. (no spoiler) They're kinda "light" force bosses, and your warrior of "light" with classes of "light" (dragoon, monk, warrior, samurai, etc) they dont do nothing at him, because there are that imbalance, cuz there is much light, that become the "bad" thing, instead of the darkness. Anyway, hope you enjoy the game. I've been wow player since burning, but from the ending of Heavensward expansion, FFXIV is my main MMO game. This game is really worth, I hope they keep going with the good content and learning from mistakes ^^!
Welcome to the FF XIV community. If you are new brace yourself for the 1-50 experience it is a bit rough, but once you hit Heavensward it really opens up for most people.
I too have left wow around the start of the year but I had free time til next month but the past like 4 months I returned to ff14 after a free trial over a year ago and I have not regretted paying for ff14 while i let my wow time drop. It has just been borning for me but ff14 just feels like a breath of fresh air. I already have 2 jobs maxed (Red Mage and Ninja) with Samurai at 67 and still climbing. Next will be Dragoon ( 61) hopefully before Shadowbringers. I have tied ESO before but I wasn’t to thrilled, might give it another shot in the future.
Welcome to FFXIV Krimson, left WoW after BFA, was a complete chore and I just can't stand Blizzard anymore. Its better over here on this side of the fence! I'm part of that drama you mentioned by the way, I'm very disappointed with the lack of male Viera and the Hrothgar looking a little lackluster. But its still a farcry from the constant pain I've felt by Blizzard time and time again. The beauty of FFXIV is that they can always add more later, if we get it, good, if not, then I'll be bummed but time will heal me.
Sooner or later i will be joining FFXIV. I played alot of final fantasy games, love all of them and FFXIV will be my first mmo game. Love your reaction man, its awesome to see people reaction.

I played wow, on and off, from classic till the latest expac. It had a good run. I havent played any other game that long. And they certainly deserve respect for holding the top spot for so long. But their reign had to end sooner or later. FF14 isn't perfect but it is a nice change of pace for awhile - and I love their art style and graphics. And every now and then I'll palette cleanse with GW2. For some reason, I can't seem to connect with ESO yet.
Welcome to the FF crew, KB. If you're just getting to grips with the game, take it easy and enjoy the ride to level 40-50 - that's when your class (and the content) starts going into halla-overdrive and the fun truly begins. The early-game can be a bit slow depending on your class-choice but don't worry, it gets amazing later.
By the way, the two bosses in this trailer are Kuribu and the Winged Lion from the Lost City of Amdapor (Hard). Seeing as it's a very light-centric dungeon, it makes sense that they'd be more antagonistic when dealing with overwhelming light (hence the need to become Warriors of Darkness to maintain the balance). A refreshing change from being WoLight and crushing darkness constantly. Now the side we fought for threatens the world due to imbalance.
Welcome to the community, glad to see the trailer got you just as hyped as everyone else 😁 To explain the drama around the announcements: - Some time ago there were leaks by a former game tester who said dancer will be a healer, so for almost a year now, people were close to 100% sure that dancer would be a healer. So when it turned out to be a ranged dps instead, everyone who had been looking forward to a new healer got really really salty, but it's not exactly Square Enix' fault that we believed the leaker and feel disappointed now .-. - Thanks to the same leaks, we already knew that we would be getting both Viera and a Ronso-like race. Logic would dictate that they aren't gonna drop two full races at once, but since we had genderlocked races in the past (Miqo'te and Roegadyn used to only come in female and male variety respecticely) and everyone hated it, we all really hoped the devs wouldn't reintroduce genderlocks again. Sadly, they did (at least for now) so the people who had hoped for male Viera are very unhappy now of course. So yea. Some justified anger, a lot of unjustified salt, you know, your regular MMO community reaction to anything really, lol. It's not gonna last, just emotions blowing up at not getting what people expected based on the leaks.

I'll admit at first, as a healer main I was mildly upset that there wasn't going to be another healer, but after a couple of days I was over it and still plan on buying the expansion. As for the whole race thing... eh, I couldn't care less. Still pretty excited for Shadowbringers either way.
Just to point something out. It triggers me beyond belief when WoW players compare Dark Knight to Death Knight. If anything, Dark Knight is closer to Shadow Priest in terms of lore and abilities, excluding the melee/plate class. Death Knight on the other hand is all about death, plague and necromancy - even the DK character is DEAD to begin with. On the other hand, Dark Knights are very much alive and they are driven by justice and vengeance. TLDR; Stop comparing anything "dark" with plate armor to Death Knight , the Necromancer on steroids.
Happy to see im not the only one who thought to play ffxiv for that same reason.. :) Welcome to the club man. Cant wait til shadowbringers is out.. the story is AMAZING.
I see that you're new to the FFXIV world. I suggest playing throughout the whole game (or can skip to HW using skip potion in the cash shop which is alright to do then watch the cutscenes that have been skipped in later on) leading up to the conclusion of Storm Blood. Plus there's a crystal tower storyline (which was optional) that will shed some light on the story line which is definitely going to continue/or related with ShadowBringers.

Fun tip the end game is not the only thing you can do in the game you can be everything in the game even the crafters. And also end game is not every thing and I recommend you go though everything in the msq to understand the story.
I too am a wow player moved over to 14. BFA lost me, both story and gameplay, and this one is amazing for the story. Glad to see you trying this out as well!
Right now I'm actually feeling like playing WoW, cause i'm bored of FFXIV content and after 5 years it haves been pretty much the same recycled content over the years. But I am glad you're hyped and I do hope you will enjoy XIV, cause it is a great game with a top notch story. I'm sure you will enjoy XIV a lot if you're a new player. I'm in the same boat when it comes to Wow, I just get no joy from it anymore. FF14 is a really nice change for me and i am very eager for the Dancer job.

And about those bosses in the trailer, they are from the lvl 60 dungeon Lost City of Amdapor Hard Mode
Hope you enjoy those bosses, right now they will die so quickly tho, but in the trailer really means something. (no spoiler) They're kinda "light" force bosses, and your warrior of "light" with classes of "light" (dragoon, monk, warrior, samurai, etc) they dont do nothing at him, because there are that imbalance, cuz there is much light, that become the "bad" thing, instead of the darkness.
Anyway, hope you enjoy the game. I've been wow player since burning, but from the ending of Heavensward expansion, FFXIV is my main MMO game. This game is really worth, I hope they keep going with the good content and learning from mistakes ^^!

Welcome to the FF XIV community. If you are new brace yourself for the 1-50 experience it is a bit rough, but once you hit Heavensward it really opens up for most people.
I too have left wow around the start of the year but I had free time til next month but the past like 4 months I returned to ff14 after a free trial over a year ago and I have not regretted paying for ff14 while i let my wow time drop. It has just been borning for me but ff14 just feels like a breath of fresh air. I already have 2 jobs maxed (Red Mage and Ninja) with Samurai at 67 and still climbing. Next will be Dragoon ( 61) hopefully before Shadowbringers. I have tied ESO before but I wasn’t to thrilled, might give it another shot in the future.
Lost my shit back then when I saw my main job in the trailer (Dark Knight). I still get hyped up when I watch this.

I'm part of that drama you mentioned by the way, I'm very disappointed with the lack of male Viera and the Hrothgar looking a little lackluster. But its still a farcry from the constant pain I've felt by Blizzard time and time again. The beauty of FFXIV is that they can always add more later, if we get it, good, if not, then I'll be bummed but time will heal me.
Sooner or later i will be joining FFXIV. I played alot of final fantasy games, love all of them and FFXIV will be my first mmo game. Love your reaction man, its awesome to see people reaction.

I played wow, on and off, from classic till the latest expac. It had a good run. I havent played any other game that long. And they certainly deserve respect for holding the top spot for so long. But their reign had to end sooner or later. FF14 isn't perfect but it is a nice change of pace for awhile - and I love their art style and graphics. And every now and then I'll palette cleanse with GW2. For some reason, I can't seem to connect with ESO yet.

If you're just getting to grips with the game, take it easy and enjoy the ride to level 40-50 - that's when your class (and the content) starts going into halla-overdrive and the fun truly begins. The early-game can be a bit slow depending on your class-choice but don't worry, it gets amazing later.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who keeps saying class instead of job still.
By the way, the two bosses in this trailer are Kuribu and the Winged Lion from the Lost City of Amdapor (Hard). Seeing as it's a very light-centric dungeon, it makes sense that they'd be more antagonistic when dealing with overwhelming light (hence the need to become Warriors of Darkness to maintain the balance). A refreshing change from being WoLight and crushing darkness constantly. Now the side we fought for threatens the world due to imbalance.

To explain the drama around the announcements:
- Some time ago there were leaks by a former game tester who said dancer will be a healer, so for almost a year now, people were close to 100% sure that dancer would be a healer. So when it turned out to be a ranged dps instead, everyone who had been looking forward to a new healer got really really salty, but it's not exactly Square Enix' fault that we believed the leaker and feel disappointed now .-.
- Thanks to the same leaks, we already knew that we would be getting both Viera and a Ronso-like race. Logic would dictate that they aren't gonna drop two full races at once, but since we had genderlocked races in the past (Miqo'te and Roegadyn used to only come in female and male variety respecticely) and everyone hated it, we all really hoped the devs wouldn't reintroduce genderlocks again. Sadly, they did (at least for now) so the people who had hoped for male Viera are very unhappy now of course.
So yea. Some justified anger, a lot of unjustified salt, you know, your regular MMO community reaction to anything really, lol. It's not gonna last, just emotions blowing up at not getting what people expected based on the leaks.
HaichaoTeaLover What’s funny is that I’ve seen posts talking as if they speak for the entire community. Along the lines of “The community is disappointed”, then they’re flooded with comments with people who are content with the announcements lol
I'll admit at first, as a healer main I was mildly upset that there wasn't going to be another healer, but after a couple of days I was over it and still plan on buying the expansion.
As for the whole race thing... eh, I couldn't care less. Still pretty excited for Shadowbringers either way.

Just to point something out. It triggers me beyond belief when WoW players compare Dark Knight to Death Knight.
If anything, Dark Knight is closer to Shadow Priest in terms of lore and abilities, excluding the melee/plate class. Death Knight on the other hand is all about death, plague and necromancy - even the DK character is DEAD to begin with.
On the other hand, Dark Knights are very much alive and they are driven by justice and vengeance.
TLDR; Stop comparing anything "dark" with plate armor to Death Knight , the Necromancer on steroids.
This trailer is why I main a Dark Knight.

I see that you're new to the FFXIV world. I suggest playing throughout the whole game (or can skip to HW using skip potion in the cash shop which is alright to do then watch the cutscenes that have been skipped in later on) leading up to the conclusion of Storm Blood. Plus there's a crystal tower storyline (which was optional) that will shed some light on the story line which is definitely going to continue/or related with ShadowBringers.

I recently started playing the demo version to see how I like it and it seems really awesome! I may go so far as to get a sub (if thats how this works) Ive gotta look some more things up, because I am a total noob to this game and know nothing

Fun tip the end game is not the only thing you can do in the game you can be everything in the game even the crafters. And also end game is not every thing and I recommend you go though everything in the msq to understand the story.
I too am a wow player moved over to 14. BFA lost me, both story and gameplay, and this one is amazing for the story. Glad to see you trying this out as well!

The stuff about the Warrior of Darkness was first brought up near the end of Heavensward and is vaguely brought up again near the end of Stornblood.
I am 100% with you on wow. I quit in October for ff14 and am hyped for gunbreaker!

I recently came back to ff14 also because WoW is going downhill for me
I wish the gameplay in FF14 were a bit closer to WoW's. I love the setting, art, and story, but the gameplay is just floatier and clunkier.
I keep trying FF14, but it just too daunting to jump into head first solo at this point for me
I started in October, it takes time but well worth the experience.

But I am glad you're hyped and I do hope you will enjoy XIV, cause it is a great game with a top notch story. I'm sure you will enjoy XIV a lot if you're a new player. And i'm sure I will enjoy WoW since i'm a new player to that my self :D
