1st aid kit, duct tape, zip ties, buggies, folding saw, hatchet, small lithium jump start battery is excellent on the trail!

Take a look at Safety Siphon. You can transfer fuel from one machine to another. I keep one in my ATV kit, my garage at home and in my shed at the camper. You can empty a 5 gallon can in about three minutes.

Never forget the baby wipes! I also carry a bead breaking tool and big tire patches. Also starter fluid to reseat the tire.

I carrying a 2kg dry powder fire extinguisher, a small medical bag, some illumination flares and a smoke grenade (never know if one day you need to signal a landing zone), A 4pound hammer and winch anchor for the times there are no trees near by, as well as fold up spade and a compact bottle jack for the flats or suspension repairs.
Looking at your kit I need to up the amount of tools in mine. I literally have the bare minimum.

Nicholas Holmes Thanks for your comment, some of the tools in there may not be of much use but when times are tough creativity may be key. I am not sure us you have seen my Moose fire extinguisher sleeve review for the commander, if not you should check it out. The land anchor is a great idea, I can use my winch to get the commander off the ground for repairs if needed. Enjoyed your video. We have the RZR XP 1000 and Wildcat X ATV's and we appreciate them, they are tough and hold up good on our trail.

Great video. I'm a big fan of the pelican case as well for caring the emergency kit. Only issue is if we dont bring the side by side there's no where to put it....so it usually just stays in the truck during those rides.

Great idea on the U bolt shackle for winch cable repair. I'll have to add that to my kit. I only have a few things you dont. I have a valve core removal tool, extra valve cores, extra valves, a valve replacement tool, and a hatchet in case I have to cut up any tree I cant winch out.

    • @msfirefighter662

All great ideas, defiantly going to add the vale core tool and cores. Thanks for the comment, please Share & Subscribe.

Agree with atcdan133 about the wire rope clips. I'll have to add a few to my kit. To go with the tire stuff, check out the Colby valve. They're an emergency valve stem that you can replace from the outside. They're expensive for what they are but easier than breaking down a tire in the middle of the woods! (Another idea is JB Weld)

Do yourself a big favor and take a look at Kinetic Rope and "Dump the strap". Do a TH-cam search on Matt's Towing and watch what kinetic rope can do.

drop the redundant tools and slings, add small med kit, TP, water, batteries, flare, rolled up 4mil garbage bag, folding camp saw, zip ties and gorilla tape - and a complete beer brewing kit.

3:06 I have to disagree with Kinedyne's tag on the tow strap. Doubling over the tow strap in the fashion shown will NOT increase the capacity to 18,600 lbs. The stress point at the bottom of the "U" is still rated at 9,300 lbs. You need two straps to get 18,600 lbs capacity.
However, it's an awesome video. it gives viewers things to think about before going on a Lewis & Clark expedition so to speak. i carry a lot of survival gear and supplies myself. And I always tell my family where I'm going and i stick to the plan so they'll know where to send a recovery team for my body if need be. Last year there was an individual whose car broke down. Made two mistakes. 1-didn't tell anyone where he was going and 2-didn't take the popular trail back the way he came (took a different route lest traveled). It was only by stroke of luck that another off roader found him 3 days later.

The rigging is rated for the stitching at the loop not the actual strap strength. That is what I have been taught whenever I get re-certified for crane rigging.

nice I'm new to the ATV game so I will be building an emergency kit. I will also add a small 300 amp portable jump starter. Cables are nice if some on is around if not the jump starter can be invaluable and its no bigger than a cell phone.

john balogna you should look into portable jump start packs. They take up very little room and work really well.
I did a video on one about a month ago you can look up on our channel (this wasn't meant to be an advertisement when I started typing this but it clicked half way through we have a video up on it, lol)

I noticed that you didn't list the expander bolt to spread the clutches. I would add that to an otherwise awesome kit.

Charles Bowman Thanks for catching that, I have the spreader bolt but in a different tool box. I will definatly make sure that it gets placed into the tool bag. Thank you for watching and make sure you subscribe and share.
