After purchasing the TV and calibrating a bit I realize this TV is absolutely awesome. When comparing output of my personal pictures to the screen the colors look 100% spot on. Your review is only worthwhile post review. Anyone with a bit of brain power realizes one should not just plug and play.
I would like to see you calibrate the G4, getting the best out of it, and then compare it with the S95D, S90D, but I remember that your first impressions of the S95D, before calibrating, weren't good either, one thing I didn't notice you doing, is taking the g4 in energy saving mode, when activated it causes you to lose a lot of quality
Hey Quantum, remember when you mentioned possibly doing a Q8FN with your settings versus KG settings video? It got quite a positive response in the comment section. How about now pitting the Q8FN with your settings against the G4 in filmmaker mode? It could really emphasize the importance of thinking independently when it comes to calibration. Seeing an older QLED outperform the new G4 would be both insightful and intriguing really driving the point home ! Plus, it will definitely trigger some people, which could be amusing too!
I have the 83” G4 and I still enjoy your brutally honest opinions on it. I came from a 12 year old edge lit LED tv. I think the G3 had a bit more 3D pop than the G4 but haven’t really messed with the settings yet since I’ve been too busy. Cannot wait to see what you do to it.
Q its really crazy how everybody try to come at you bc you tell the truth and you know how calibrate TVs if they just stayed here and watch you they will learn something and would stop hating on you 💯
I agree. I thought I was the only one not so happy with the out of the box settings. But do you happen to have settings that I can use with the three different picture modes? Thanks! 😊
Also I find all OLEDs look like crap until they break in anyway. My OLEDs look like completely different TVs after 200 hours of run time. That's why I don't put much stock into let's just unbox and compare reviews.
Just absolutely continues to blow my mind how absolutely crappy things look out of the box! Honestly, I can’t even believe I ever lived with a TV before knowing how to calibrate it. I always knew how to put a warm picture on it, but that was it until I came across you The thought of going backwards makes me sick! Also, I’m a wall mount person, but to each their own the stand process is always interesting to watch. It’s also very much admittedly probably a personal thing for me because I have to lay more than the average person so being able to tilt the TV better toward the bed is a big thing. It’ll be interesting to see what this can do when you’re done calibrating it.
I’m thinking of getting this tv but if you can’t improve this picture significantly then it’s a no go and I’ll wait for your recommendations, maybe wait until you’ve looked at the B9 ???
You're right damn it, how do they come to the conclusion that he's cool, he shows a 3D picture? I returned my 55 inch C95S to get a 65 inch TV since S95C inspired me a lot, I decided to use a larger panel and what did I see? I walked around the stand and looked at G3, I was in such shock, I couldn’t believe my eyes, how can they keep saying such things about how amazing TV this is? I even played around with the settings a little, but it didn’t help at all. Color vibrancy is just DEAD, color setting up didnt help, its like LED TV. On samsung you can push color up and its stuning how tv can make this colors. I turned on - the mad max scene from TH-cam in HDR on both TVs and on the LG I wanted to turn off the TV, but the Samsung on the QD-OLED showed it exciting and great. Apparently there is some kind of PR company from LG or a crowd of loyal fans or all together? oh yes, I also watched G2 65 for only $1200 at a discount, it was even worse there but I thought it was a defect, so I went to watch G3
I’ve never seen a tv out of the box that looks good. I’m no pro calibrator, but I spend a solid week tweaking my new LG OLEDs out of the box. I’ll take the less 3D and color pop from the WOLED vs QD OLEDs terrible motion. I just returned 2 Samsung S95Cs after days of calibrating the picture to near flawless, but with the worst motion handling I’ve ever seen of any tv. The tv literally made me nauseous. I compared it to my LG G2 in the living room and the G2 motion is night and day better. I got the LG G4 in place of the S95C, but haven’t received it yet. I’d like to see more tv reviewers talk about motion. I’ve been seeing more and more reviews of the Sony A95L claiming to have terrible motion. This has lead me to believe it’s a QD OLED issue and not just a Samsung issue. QD OLED also does a terrible job in ambient light creating a magenta hue. QD OLEDs are much more susceptible to burn in and LG made sure the industry was clear on that. I’ve seen burn in tests proving it, and also PC gamers are experiencing this. Not sold on QD OLED. I have a feeling LG is going to switch to RGB OLEDs in the near future. I saw this in their gaming monitor roadmap for 2025. I’m curious if we will also see tandem OLED TVs in the near future which will solve the whole screen brightness issue.
you’re the only who mentioned this tv has kinda thin greenish fingerprint on screen or thin greenish filter all the time it’s like it’s there at all times i’ve noticed in other TH-cams reviews nd it’s really annoying nd makes you hate the screen even though it’s not bad but this thing is super annoying but non talked about it nd didn’t see anyone mentioned it in their comments section
When should we expect a calibrated comparison Q? Appreciate you only just got this so need time. I'm close to pulling the trigger on the S95D due to a current offer samsung are running but may wait to see your verdict before going ahead
For color tastes, but when calibrating the difference is noticeable, who doesn't want their TV to look better? My friend, when you can compare the 42-inch TV for a PC monitor like the Qdoled or the C4 or perhaps the monitors themselves to know what to buy greetings
Quantum can you please give me the settings for s90d. I feel that s90c was crisper. Is there anyway you can tell if your panel is a woled or qd panel? PLEAESE!!!!!!!!!
I did (•_•), I honestly feel the picture on the s90c is close enough. In my humble opinion shelling the xtra money for a small difference is not worth ir
Okay good you finally got a G4 on Deck.. please do a proper review after calibration of your unit because before you're doing armchair review on other TH-camrs vids.
It really does look awful in comparison to the S90D, and the settings you've cooked up for it. I'm sure you could get this one singing if you wanted to, but for all those who aren't really going to mess with it they're basically pissing away their money
Basically all TVs need tweaking out of the box. One should set up the TV to your liking. If it saturated with red and you love it then that’s the right setting. It’s your TV and unlike Sony BS if you love the picture it’s correct. Don’t fall for director intent that’s pure bonk. Most movie theaters use Digital projector that are usually tune to the projectionist preferences. So in today’s age what does director intent mean??
I have the 83 and mine looks NOTHING like that, NOTHING ! And it’s pretty much out of the box ! This looks like the camera is over exposed deliberately
Peter Quantum is not over exposing the picture His Sony Alpha camera adds saturation like every modern camera do that's why on his end he explains that The picture looks washed out and lacks. color if bother do watch more videos from Q you would understand that part
Indeed, I have a 77" G4 and it looked absolutely incredible out of the box. I have since made some minor changes, but still I can verify that the picture does NOT look anywhere near the "dead" colors as seen in this video.
Because he has better calibration settings than anyone else. If you're going to buy a turd, might as well get the most polished one. - Posted from my Samsung S95D's browser.
I have the LG G4 television, the image is sublime on an Xbox Series, you test the TV by modifying the correct parameters and you do not test the HDR, since the release of the television you have only criticized this television to believe that you are doing advertising on Samsung go watch all the videos in cinema or game modes you would see that the image has nothing to do with its test
Yes G4 sucks out of the box but beware anyone who repeatedly tells you they are unbiased. What really would have given some credibility is if he gave some ballpark better settings. I will definitely look at a number of sources elsewhere for my info.
@Quantum_TV settings to achieve what? I am not interested in colour accuracy and friends have always commented highest I get the picture on my TV's especially on live sport. This is just a poorly designed picture tuning system. I am in personal settings and it greys out colour saturation!? As for hue, I am sure there is an adjustment somewhere but it also is not visible even in advanced settings in personal picture mode.
S90D vs G4 calibrated. One thing you always say and I agree, out of the box settings sucks. There's no point comparing TVs like that
After purchasing the TV and calibrating a bit I realize this TV is absolutely awesome. When comparing output of my personal pictures to the screen the colors look 100% spot on. Your review is only worthwhile post review. Anyone with a bit of brain power realizes one should not just plug and play.

Can i use an other stand like an universal one from amazon ?
What happened to unboxing at the start.
I am on c1 is still good for now , but my next tv will be g4
So Samsung has more frame skipping with motion interpolation on than LG correct?
