I would definitely go and talk to them with your dad and see the proof of all that and if you have proof from when you first moved in show them that there trying too make you pay for there remodeling for the new people which they can’t do

Your landlord should 100% be responsible for pest control. I know it's probably a hassle to go through landlords for everything, but listening to how much money they leech from you is infuriating! Especially with the cleanliness issues and broken heating/AC
Unfortunately with the way the company is, they require the tenants to pay and deal with pest control, lawn care & pool care if a pool is there.

If you want to change the color of your couch you can get couch covers! There are some really nice ones out there. Just an idea!
Obviously this is too late, but for the next time you move try to be there for the final walkthrough inspection! If you aren't there they will try to get every little thing they can and its harder to argue. If you can I would take this to your local rental board, they might be able to help. Idk how it works in the states but in Canada repainting between tenants is what you're suppose to do as a landlord, and its general wear and tear not your responsibility.
For the dark sofa…. Get cushion covers! At first you can feel like they are a bit “expensive” because the ones I got was like $3-$5 per cushion. (And my sofa is giant) BUT it was a million times worth it!!! Changes the entire vibe and I smile looking at the sofa now every day even though I did the covers many months ago! ❤just an idea❤️

Always do the walkthrough with the landlord. I learned that the hard way. They can't get away with as much stuff when you are with them.

Cran flies are so harmless I love rescuing them and putting them back outside though.
They took advantage and is keeping most of your deposit for complete bs, because you left that place so clean and we all seen all that hard work you put into leaving it good , those things they’re replacing is on them , not you wtf. That’s normal wear and tear that the landlord’s responsible for.
If you can, ask the rental company for receipt of everything! It's your money you should make sure they are doing what they say they are with it 🤷♀️

Take them to arbitration if you feel like you weren't treated right with the deposit. Landlords will try and screw you over any way they can. You have rights with a tenancy act.
Hey I wanted to say for your couch you could always buy a light colored cover set that fits over it! Or you could always just decorate it with brighter color pillows and throw blankets too. But anyways I love your new house and I really like the huge backyard and deck area! I also live in a ranch style home and they are my favorite. Mainly cause of the single story and huge backyard they have.

UGhHh I don’t think I’ve ever had a landlord not have every excuse in the book to keep our deposit. In fact after I moved out of my last place I OWED money because of the water utilities. They were always a month behind it seems. It sucks. Place looks great!!
How do you rent with that many animals? Most places only allow 1-4 pets
i only have to pay for the cats and dogs and my landlord does not have a limit as long as they are paid for

I will not move without hiring moves. It's sooooo worth the money. Any move I've had friends help with has taken forever and I can't stand it.

I read today somewhere that some states won't allow them to keep deposits for normal wear and tear so carpet that whole toilet thing. Look up the deposit laws in you're area. That's ridiculous AF.
You can take your landlord to small claims court. Show proof that you cleaned the house, honestly the way it was left is proof enough. Normal wear and tear should be expected for anyone who rents. I would look into it if you get the chance. Landlords fucking suck 😡

Moving day always has something that goes wrong. I remember back in June when I moved into my place, I had my friend get into a heated argument with my next door neighbour. And that day all I wanted was to move the guinea pigs into the new house LOL yah it was a drama fest.

I'm in the UK so perhaps I can't comment but if I were you I would 100% argue what you are being charged for your last place. You made a real effort to leave it well maintained and clean! Also you say the same company has rented you your new place and you listed a whole load of issues. How come they have to pay out so much to sort your old place when they're happy to rent you your new place with issues?!! Incredibly unfair! Fight them!!
It's probably not their first time taking advantage of tenants. I'm sure they won't even fix/replace half of the things listed. I'm so sorry Alyssa. Be glad you are out of there though.

You can sue for your deposit back, especially if you have before and after photos, and if they have no proof

A few ideas for pest control. Like you, I live in the sticks, not all that far from you actually. I do get the outside sprayed but have also planted things that deter bugs. Lavender is a really good one. Marigold for snakes, bonus forage for the piggies. Mint, eucalyptus or citronella plants for spiders. You can also make a peppermint spray (Essential peppermint oil and water. 10 drops to 16 oz. water) and when you find webs, clear them and spray peppermint in that area. Having cats you will need to be careful with plants. But you could use plant sconces near your windows or wherever on your walls. Just a few ideas for ya! Congrats on your move!! I hate those crane flies too!!
If you want to keep bugs out of the house. Get magnetic screens for your doors and windows. Its a hige game changer 😊
maybe if you get a rotating tv wall mount it will help for the angle of the couch? just so the couch can stay out of the way and you can swivel the tv in and out as needed

That’s what’s bad about living around alot of woods. You get tons of bugs. Like my house I get ants all the time. But after awhile you get used to it. And btw seeing ur bearded dragon enclosure makes me sad. I just lost my baby on the 4th. It’s so hard. I want another one but can’t right now. Love them and take good care of them. They there then not one day. Good luck with the new place.
I live in a very woodsy area so when I first moved in I was having a lot of trouble with spiders and roaches, which was not working because I have a severe phobia, and I couldn’t afford pest control, and the thing that worked for me was using original pinesol to mop and wipe counters or any surfaces with it because it’s a bug deterant, and I mop like 3-4 times a week and I use pinesol and a few drops of peppermint essential oil which kills bugs and when I tell you I would mop and then find dead ones on the floor after! I don’t really have an issue with them anymore I still use the solution when I mop and it helps so much. You don’t even have to use the pinesol either tbh I used fabuloso with the peppermint oil too and works just as good. You can also add peppermint oil and water to a bottle and spray it in corners or shelves around your house.

Landlords suck n they blame u for everything even though u make good of the house n sometimes leave it in better condition than when u move in as they did that to my niece we made her flat spotless n she was fined n ye owning ur own house is the best hope u get to buy ur own house soon

I tried the beanbag in the corner but the bean bag is way too big and it covers the shelves of the bookshelves unfortunately

When did you pack up? The kid's beds was hit the day of the move or a couple? Days. Before what is your advice about bunk beds
I only had 12 days to move and I started then. I recommend just undoing the beds and leaving the mattress on the floors until the move so you don’t have to worry about undoing the bed the day of the move!

(I know this is gonna be an odd comment BUT) crane flies?! I never knew their proper name 😂 I have always called them “gollywhoppers”
If you want a natural way to keep mosquitoes, crane flies, and even spiders away from you home you should but peppermint plants around your doorways (outside) if you can! It’s a lifesaver (I’m horrified of spiders 🤢)
Edit: I live across the street from a literal RIVER and protect woodland 🫠 (it’s cool but omg the bugs) I spray HomeDefense one room at a time so it can fully dry for my cats but I DOWSE that shit and it seems to really work. Make sure you get your window seals too! Every corner, every crevice! I hope you are bug free soon 😭

You can actually fight a lot of these charges! My old rental house wanted $5,000 for wear and tear and things that were never a problem to begin with. Hell they even said things were missing from the house like a towel rack in my bathroom. There never was a towel rack in my bathroom and not even room for one in it. Tried charging $100 to remove 2 boxes of soda I left in the fridge by mistake.
When I moved into that house, the exact fridge had a whole a piece of rotting meat in it and it smelled violently like decomposing matter.
Same sort of things happened with my parents, FIGHT THAT STUFF!!
I am fighting them. I talked on the phone and sent proof of videos and pictures of everything. I’m waiting to hear back.

I live part time in Italy and the mosquitos can literally drive me crazy. I can highly recommend putting up mosquito net on windows, around veranda doors.. At least here it's very cheap and a life-saver for sure!!🥹🙏
