I love these sketchbooks and they are so affordable here and come in so many sizes and colours. The majority of them have ivory paper, but the ones with cork covers have bright white paper.
Been using those sketchbooks years ago because they are pretty affortable for what they offer and they have a good size for how I use sketchbooks, and I started using them again, my last 4 sketchbooks and I already got another one for my next sketchbook :3 I´m so happy to see they finally get some hype in the community.
i use the 8.3x11.7 inch one, and i am INLOVE. i need to test watercolors with it, but if i glue together two pages the alcohol markers can take a LOT of layering. and it makes it so fun to color things in :) *edit i bought it after watching this video a while back*
@@zordic7526 I’m glad, I still love mine too, still using it and I got 2 larger ones. Defiantly am planning to get more someday. Some of my favourite paper honestly! I like to use several sketchbooks at once.
Hi! I just ordered this exact sketchbook and it will arrive tomorrow so I came to look up reviews! Thanks for the detailed review. And Happy 4 months later belated birthday BTW! 😅😅🎉🎉
It seems great with most things I’ve been using in it! But some water soluble inks seem to never fully ‘set’ and become waterproof so they will reactivate a bit of you watercolour over them. Also many inks take longer to set/dry on it but this can be an advantage! I think using it for its strengths and enjoy what it is! But art and preferences are subjective. Maybe the off white rather than bright white is throwing you off€
@@valasafantastic1055 Yeah it might be. I tried it some more with pen and I like that, they’re very smooth on the paper. :) I have heard people generally like it a lot with gouache.
Put it in a pocket/small back, walk out your home and draw with pencils or blackfinelinerson a sunny day. They paper will not burn your eyes when reflecting the sun.
I recently bought this exact same size to test and im in love with the paper, though I have a love-hate relationship with the colour. I wish the white variant was available in my region.
I like this sketchbook for charcoal sketches and gouache. I use pretty less water. I don’t think it’s suitable for watercolour. Beginners can struggle due to heavy buckling. It’s pretty smooth. Also, I would advise to use at least one coat of gesso before painting with acrylic paints.
I wish i loved these sketchbooks I wanted to love them, but i found them to bleed through far too easily and dry too muted for my personal preference. BUT, if anyone is interested in a very similar sketchbook for only a couple more dollars, the handbook Travelogue mixed media sketchbook (not the watercolor one, that one sucks imo) it does not bleed easily with watercolor and watercolor markers work amazing and so do colored pencils, gouache, acrylic etc. Edit: I just retried my old one that had a couple blank pages bc i really want a super cheap super small sketchbook i can fit in my pocket but im just not sold yet. Does the a6 easily lay flat?
It is the same paper ! Same weight. It clearly says: 140 gsm. on all sketchbooks. Talens are a European compagny. We - of course - use gram. That is what it is manufactored in.. all testing is to make sure it is 90 gsm. The 'lbs' is just a convertion. A quick convertion meight say 94 lbs. but no quality control ever measured in lbs.! - So they used another convertion... or thouhgt it looked better with 90 than 94 lbs. at one time..... When using the metricsystem, one fall in love with everything being divided with 10. 94 lbs. looks like somebody just threw a lot of pulp in a mashine... and made a paper without testing quality.
Ohuhu still bleed btw. Tested it myself, thanks for making this video, those little sketchbooks are fun to carry around!

I have one that I haven’t figured out how to use, I feel like nothing looks good in it! I’m happy to finally see some reviews of these sketchbooks.

Wish they came with white paper
I think there is a bright white variant but check what’s available in your region/area!
1 month late, but happy birthday!!!
