The two references everyone are missing are the Three Stooges posters in Danny's room and the ending kill being an Evil Dead 2013 reference, because she rams the chainsaw into the monster the same way Mia killed the Abomination, and the blood from the chipper emulated the blood rain.
The Bruce Campbell cameo according to Lee Cronin is this: The voice on the record player, both the priest and the voice warning it's called the book of the dead for a reason, are both Bruce Campbell. The voice that hates the book is confirmed by him to be a time-displaced Ash Williams, and with that and the acknowledgement of the three books, the original trilogy, remake, and Rise are all canon to the same film series.
Thanks Greg and John I immediately watch evil dead rise after this review I loved the Bruce Campbell's original movie and his show I really wish they had the be last season I liked the cliff hanger also Evil dead rise was awesome

I think that the fact they go so long between evil dead movies is why the franchise stays so fresh. We aren’t being overwhelmed with them and there’s pressure on the filmmakers to make it as good as possible.
Sam and Bruce said the plan is to do a film every few years or so to just build out the universe from here on out. And with some of Bruce's more recent comments after doing the game and adding his voice cameo to Rise, an animated continuation of Ash vs Evil Dead is very likely at this point. Especially after the success of Rise. So at the very least we might get a Max original animated series in the future.
YES!! This movie killed at the box office, $120 million dollars! There's a clever easter egg in the movie, and if you listen closely, you can hear Bruce Campbell's voice on the record that our main protagonist is listening to, indicating that Ash Williams was sent back in time to stop the Deadites from being resurrected in the 1920's, 1930's. This was confirmed by Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi.
Never imagined the sweet lady I met 2 years ago was capable of this. She's terrifying and I mean that in the most complimentary way possible. She....killed it. *badum tish*
Bruce Campbell has a couple "cameos." While the 2nd record is played, you can hear him yell, "Destroy it! It's called the 'Book of the Dead' for a reason!" And, the chewing noise when Ellie bites out Gabriel's eye, Bruce did the foley effect by taking bites out of an apple.
In terms of editing, sound design, cinematography, visual practical effects, and acting, this entry takes the cake as the best in the entire franchise.
This was such a refreshing horror movie, the movie was actually frightening, the past few years “horror” movies most of them anyway are just jumpscares to scare you and some blood, this movie blows those out of the water, characters that we get time with, sheer tension and shocking visuals while still building and progressing the story, so happy with this my favourite in the series

The first half was more creepy and suspenseful, where the second is more gore. I love my gore, but I'll take creepy and suspenseful any day,
Loved this movie and this is one of the best films of the year. Alyssa stole the show and The Family are great. Love the more personal feel and the intensity. Just wish it was longer. Hope to get a Prequel based on the recording of The Priest being revealed in the film as Ash.
I loved this movie. It felt like the intensity of the 2013 with some moments of the comedy/goofy vibe from the originals and really walked a great line and was so much fun.
@@pbear1988 I thought in this movie there was no character development at all. And the only comedic moment for me was the twitching seperated head at the beginning.
@@pbear1988 if we're talking character development, then let's be completely honest, even in the original movie Evil Dead itself from the 80s has zero character development in it at all. One of the best horror films and does a brilliant job adding something fresh to the franchise but also pays homage to the previous ones. The title card is magnificent and sounds incredible in the movie theater. Actually like the best horror films, this one was fun to watch in the theater with other moviegoers. Saw this movie at the cinema. No one else turned up. So i was watching this in a big dark room all on my own. It was absolutley terrifying, but at the same time an absolutley amazing film.
Just wanna point out the Staffanie foreshadowing in the beginning of the movie, when she poked Bridgitte with it before the tip broke. I don’t know why, but that got me in particular lol.
I FINALLY watched the movie, by myself tonight (my roommate was too scared) OH MY GOD! That pony tail rip is my favorite! Along with the mom at the door scene "open up, now"
The bizarre looking gory part where the children and their mother form together to become a monstrous walking thing reminds me of the centaur from Fallout 3
This movie was so intense. Amazing performances and exceptional camera work and VFXs. I really am intrigued with the 3 Volumes of the book of the dead. That to me is so fascinating. Because when you really think about it the original evil dead trilogy and the 2013 film and this one all had differences within the deadites and how they can be killed. This one the deadites were very different since simple dismemberment and cleanse by fire did nothing to them. And the priest even said that dismemberment didn’t work. So I find it extremely fascinating that it seems like each book seems to have their own unique type of deadite. I would love to explore that more.
Just watched it last night on Max, it’s amazing. Huge Evil Dead fan and I could tell that the director is as well. The callbacks to the originals were on point, they weren’t too in your face. Love that we have a new setting to expand the world (which is one of the things I loved about Ash vs Evil Dead). The carnage was on point, there were great bits of physical comedy but it wasn’t over the top. Cinematography was crazy good. I love when directors play with the background in horror movies and there was plenty of that in this film. Great bits of homage to other iconic horror franchises like Nightmare, Friday, and The Shining. Overall this movie did not disappoint, far from it. If the first two movies are 10s (and I believe they are), this gets a solid 9/10 for me
I watched it in theaters and boy did I have such a wonderful time! It was so fun and gross and scary in the best ways. I think this movie had done the best compared to the rest of the movies, like 5 times it’s own budget is wild. I’m glad you guys loved it too
What I love about this franchise is that everything IS in fact connected 1 is connected in the same way 2 is connected in the same way AOD is connected etc..
I will say.... I have seen this movie 6 times in the theater, and my favorite part is seeing it with people who have never seen it before. Watching their reactions is phenomenal!!! 🥰 because, like you said, the film builds and builds with gore, excitement, and overall level of badass!!! I loved this film. I, of course, love all the Evil Dead films. This one is a stand-alone and amazing!!!! 🥰🥰🥰
Peter Albrechtsen did the sound design. It’s the best I’ve ever heard in any movie. Especially the record player/possession scene. I felt sick to my stomach, loved it
Fun fact Bruce Campbell was playijg the voice of the man talking before the chant starts This movie had some really great shots. One of ky favs was when the camera was showing how high the skyrise hotel was from outside while it was pouring
Also kinda fitting - that a person who moved away from how god (or whatever creator there is) made them.... was the one who found the demonic book in the movie. Danny is a female, same as the actress portraying them - who decided to try looking like a boy, which failed. The family has no religious beliefs whatsoever, and she strayed from what she was born as, to try being something she can't - stealing the book from that basement vault thing, where there were lots of crosses, and other things that moviewise, and real-life are meant to protect, and control the dark forces - actively set them up for death. Thats the real lesson of the movie.

I saw this in theatre , i mean it's all right.
But Evil dead 2013 is the best in the franchise and horror industry
"Mommy resting with the maggots now" Dude my skin literally froze when she said that to a kid damn.
has to be one of the most consistent franchises! Not a bad one in the bunch!! I actually like this one the best!!
Finally, I have something to watch on a Saturday night
Is it just me or Beth looks like Mia (Evil Dead 2013)?
Just wanna point out the Staffanie foreshadowing in the beginning of the movie, when she poked Bridgitte with it before the tip broke. I don’t know why, but that got me in particular lol.
This was such a good Evil Dead Movie. A breathe of fresh air. 👌🏼 Great reaction my guys. ❤
I FINALLY watched the movie, by myself tonight (my roommate was too scared)
OH MY GOD! That pony tail rip is my favorite! Along with the mom at the door scene "open up, now"
The bizarre looking gory part where the children and their mother form together to become a monstrous walking thing reminds me of the centaur from Fallout 3
That mood switch @ 28:28 was it for me ! 😅
7:08 Couldn't agree with Greg more lmao. Alyssa Sutherland is incredible dude I hope to see her in more especially more horror
i also agree shes hot all around deadbite or not lol.
I’m glad you guys loved it too
What I love about this franchise is that everything IS in fact connected
1 is connected in the same way 2 is connected in the same way AOD is connected etc..
Jarnothon's reactions were like he experiencing the best Christmas he's ever had.
Just saw the movie in theaters and when the crucifix fell all I could think was which one of you would yell "Jesus Christ!" Love you guys!
Peter Albrechtsen did the sound design. It’s the best I’ve ever heard in any movie. Especially the record player/possession scene. I felt sick to my stomach, loved it
Fun fact Bruce Campbell was playijg the voice of the man talking before the chant starts
This movie had some really great shots. One of ky favs was when the camera was showing how high the skyrise hotel was from outside while it was pouring
It was confirmed that it was a time displace ash, it means campbells's evil dead and this are in the same universe.
Such a great movie. The cinematography is top-notch!!!
@Reel Rejects Bruce's cameo was when Danny was playing the vinyls. You hear his voice. He was one of the priests.
I was looking for your reaction to this last night lmao I can’t wait to sit down and watch this later.
11:45: Ash once said: Hold it! No one said anything about THREE books!!"
Im excited to see you guys watch this. My favourite horror movie of this year so far
I love the Evil dead franchise so much
Also kinda fitting - that a person who moved away from how god (or whatever creator there is) made them.... was the one who found the demonic book in the movie.
Y’all’s reaction was so freaking funny😂 Keep Up The Great Work 👍🏽
