    • @rubiirae
      @rubiirae 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@karaleigh_eva The website has a 15 lbs minimum to fulfill the order, so you can just do the math on your own which resulting in roughly $5-$9 per lbs of meat depends on your preference. Then you calculate how many oz of food your pet needs per day which can give you cost per oz/day. But Viva Raw seems to be the most cost effective option from the list, minus the toppings that you have to purchase separately like OP has mentioned

    The reason Ziwi peak has such a high fat and calorie content is because here in NZ we have ALOT of working dogs that are expected to run, bark, herd and chase all day. We had our dogs working from 5am until 10pm some days on the farm so they need the extra intake to keep up with their super busy life style. Definitely would not suggest it to a dog or household who does not participate in a lot of activity.

    It should be important to note that just because a nutrient is added and listed separately does not automatically make it "synthetic". Many of these can be naturally sourced as well. For example, Vitamin E can comes in 2 varieties, naturally derived or synthetic. When listed as an ingredient "Vitamin E", it doesn't specify enough to know which they used.
    Naturally derived begins with D- while synthetic begins with DL- when it's written out specifically.

    I'm here to spread the word. My dog was vomiting, diarrhea, rough hair and shedding bad. Brought my dog to 3 vets spent $3000 to have him prescribed special "pre-digest food". When that didn't work I spend $2000 more bringing him to the university of Minnesota where they prescribed him another food saying he had a "soft stomach". When that failed I went to youtube and researched raw diet and was lucky to have a neighbor that sells it! It changed his life within days his hair got soft stopped shedding as much was energetic and had great stools! Now he only pukes if he eats too much uncooked bone that I give him to clean his teeth. He has been on raw now for 4 years without any problems. My neighbor is putting his dog down tomorrow and won't even give him a chance on raw which is why I'm writing this. I REALLY want people to be aware about how dried dog food absorbs all the water from animal's organs and ruins them. You will notice they stop drinking about 80% of their daily water because they don't get dehydrated on raw. Walmart sells food in tubes and so does Coborns if you have them. I use this in combination of Titan red or blue. Please do your dog a favor and make the switch. Don't let money thieving vets rob you blind and prescribe your dog garbage so they can earn monthly fees for the prescription. The bacteria BS is complete rubbish. Dogs are natural raw meat hunters scavenging anything they can find in the wild and I put raw steaks for myself on my counter and break eggs daily and have never been sick. I personally enjoy sushi and even was on a sashimi diet for a while. It's just a scare tactic. Just switch slowly so your dog can adjust from bad to good food. Thank you if you make the switch I appreciate you caring for your animal, unlike my neighbor :(

    I actually found a raw diet kibble! The brand name is nature’s variety instinct the raw brand and it’s a pure raw diet kibble with no extra ingredients! And they have it for dogs and cats!
    (Beef version) The ingredients for dogs are: beef, beef liver, pumpkin seeds, beef spleen, carrots, apples, butternut squash, ground flaxseed, dried kelp, broccoli, apple cider vinegar, salmon oil, rosemary extract, blueberries, and dried chicory root. The use monomorillonite clay for shape, mixed tocopherols as a preservative, and freeze dry it.
    (Rabbit version)For cats the ingredients are: rabbit (including ground rabbit bone), pork, pork liver, pumpkin seeds, carrots, apples, butternut squash, rabbit liver, rabbit kidney, rabbit lung, dried kelp, broccoli, apple cider vinegar, salmon oil, rosemary extract, blueberries, and dried chicory root. The use monomorillonite clay for shape, mixed tocopherols as a preservative, and freeze dry it.
    And they have plenty of flavors too like beef, rabbit, pork, fish, etc…
    The point is I think you should definitely try this new stuff because it is amazing!
    The price for a small bag is about 15 dollars and the price for a large bag is about 30 dollars. .

      If you learn to buy the meat, organs and bone and prep it yourself, all you have to do is set aside 30 minutes once or twice a month and just prep a batch then freeze it in ziplocs; you just wash the meat in vinegar water to kill any extra bacteria and cut it in portions. It's really just a matter of making an effort and it ends up being cheaper than buying all of this. You can buy supplements like cranberry powder, dried kelp, fish oil to squeeze in there. Always good to have apple cider vinegar too. You can start with a simple basic recipe of chicken meat, a third teaspoon of liver, and a heart. You can build off and try other recipes from there.

    Just wanted to say, I'm a big fan of your channel and have been watching for months. My dogs are 6-8 mos. Thank you! I was wondering if you can do a second video with other companies featured? There's so many choices out there and it gets overwhelming. I struggle with finding an affordable premade option for feeding three large breed puppies. Currently feeding OC Raw and finding the 18lb case for $70 at one store, but trying to find additional options. I'm in a couple raw feeding groups on fb and I know others with multiple animals, including cats AND dogs, struggle with cost too. DIY isn't an option at this time. Thanks so much for this video! I have been searching the internet for days researching pre-made raw food for puppies...I'm new to raw feeding and honestly feel super overwhelmed by all of the TONS of information, opinions, calculate this, convert this, dry matter, fed as is, wet content, My head is spinning! I'm getting a puppy in 7 weeks and I want him to have the healthiest options but I also feel I should be a scientist or biologist to learn all the facts about feeding raw. My puppy is a large breed english labrador retriever and I know how crucial it is for him to receive the proper amount of nutrients for optimal growth and future wellbeing so I definitely know I can't diy his food until I feel educated enough but I'm also noticimost pre-made raw food is geared toward adult dogs. The meal says well balanced but well balanced for all stages of life can't be possible when a growing puppy needs a totally different set of nutrients than an adult dog. I'm so fearful of harming my puppy's health by trying to help him! Any recommendations on how to get more clarity is greatly appreciated! Your videos are so thorough and to the point so thanks for sharing your experience and love for your pets for our benefit. Thanks, again!

      After watching this video I did some research on the nature's logic and primal which seem to be good pre-made options for my new puppy but what I don't understand is most of these state they meet aafco standards but they all provide guaranteed analysis which if I understand correctly has to be converted to dry matter to compare apples to apples relating to aafco standards..after converting to dmb they are way higher than aafco standards but state they meet the standards...am I missing something? I'm more confused than ever!

      @@SMoss-yp3yx take it easy, I know how you feel. Without much analysis I think these brands you mention are tons of times higher quality than most of the brands of kibble that meet aafco standards

    You need to do a new video on primal. As of this year Jan 2023 they changed their formula and added yeast and down sized the meat. Look at front of bags it shows meat was 90 now it's 81. The food is making many dogs including mine very sick. Vomiting and diarrhea. I no longer buy it and use small batch, Z J raw pet and my pet carnivore. Buyer beware nor on primal. Charging a lot and quulity way down hill 😢

    For viva raw, it looks like the beef protein is the only one that has liver and other secreting organ. I would only purchase that protein if looking for a complete meal.

    I wanted to get Ziwi for a while to take for little trips when I can’t bring raw stuff. But I always thought that it’s like giving kibble so = mixing kibble and raw.

    • @PawsofPrey
      @PawsofPrey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kibble and raw can be mixed if the pet does well on it. The negative effects are a common misconception which I've done a video on. Ziwi isn't kibble anyway though!

    Answers raw is interesting although it appears to contain dairy which may not be appropriate for all dogs. I used to make homemade kefir from raw A2 milk. I would drink it and I gave some to the dogs. Then I was having some gut issues and eliminated all dairy. All my problems disappeared. I no longer feed kefir to the dogs either and they seem fine without it.

    Hi, can you make a video on raw food brands like big country raw. I use BCR but recently quality the company seems to have started adding ingredients that I would consider unnecessary. Not required and unhelpful in the different foods

    So cat food can’t be complete without synthetic vitamins and minerals right? Because some can’t come from meat and if you add whole fruits and vegetables, it’s not species appropriate

    You should have reached out to each of these websites and gotten an affiliate link so you make money when people click the link and make a purchase based on their internet cookies. Otherwise this video was very informative and helpful. No shame in making money being an honest information curator.

    Thanks so much for the video! I've been feeding my cat rawpaws which seems similar to viva and rawfeeding miami. I might give one of those a try next time I run out. I was wondering what is needed to supplement these types of food? I bought something called Alnutrin (for diets with bones) and have been adding that to the rawpaws, but I'd much rather be using whole foods to get those nutrients in. Thanks so much :)

    How many servings are there per container? Or how would you calculate a serving size given your dogs weight?
    Im not sure if it would be the same as the PMR calculation, but to feed a 60 pound dog about 1.8 pounds of any one of these brands daily would be ridiculously expensive.
