I was getting ready to get my first 3d printer. But with all these multi color printers coming out I guess I should wait a few more months to see what else is released before making a purchase. I know the k2 is getting coming out in July.
Idk how long you've waited, or how tight money is for you, but the best thing in my opinion to get into 3d printing is to just buy a 3d printer. At this point, new 3d printers have been regularly coming out for the last year or so, and holding off on buying one might just suspend you in the waiting phase forever.
get your first printer and learn to use it and troubleshoot print issues before going multi color. Even something turnkey like a bambu will require troubleshooting and setting adjustments at times
@@aleks138 I was kinda thinking about that, I was originally looking at the ender 3 v3 corexz. But I only have room for one printer, I actually have to make room for it. So I don't want to get something that I'll out grow, eventually I'd probably want the multi color stuff.
please answer the question "This printer can print ABS and other abrasive materials when you don't want to print in color, that is, directly from the spool to the extruder without the ACE PRO. And if I enclose it, could it print ABS, polycarbonate, or nylon?"
Ummm you’ll need a wear resistant nozzle to print ABS. But I see no reason why it couldn’t print ABS NYLON PC Etc if enclosed. Still, it’s not really intended for that. A properly enclosed printer might be better
The fact they're looking to make the multicolor system compatible with other printers definitely makes it enticing, in addition to the fact that it's a filament dryer; hopefully they get the bugs worked out before too long, but I don't exactly have the capital to make one up at the moment anyway, so by the time that comes along it should be working fine :p
The K3 is in the Anycubic Slicer. I have been testing out several printers and realize what I want to see in a review is how easy is it to set up the network and print from my laptop. Using Fluidd if possible. There always seems to a trick to it. PS Sorry you get so many negative comments.
Sorry, anycubic has locked down klipper firmware, only way to print is on their app or USB stick. I have the kobra2pro, they don't do anything to address users concerns.
I would like to buy a printer with a color changing system. It was actually supposed to be the Bambulab A1. Can the Kobra 3 keep up with the quality of the A1? greetings from Germany
I live in a very DRY environment, and from back in my PRUSA days, I always hated PETG. Stringing. But with the Bambu Lab and AMS I LOVE PETG. Now I hate PLA because it breaks in the AMS.
I have a X1C with AMS. I used a good amount of BL, Polymaker and eSun PLA (regular and matte), and didn't face any breaking. As far as I can tell, PLA breaking means it is brittle, so you probably have moisture/heat damaged and/or low quality filament. Or maybe you have any other ideas on why it could break?
I am glad that they are already creating support for Prusaslicer, because just starting out with multicolor printing I have noticed they are the best at blocking out colors. Hard to beat the best.
Thanks for the video, but it really left me wanting to know way more than you really went over. Being multi material, I have liked to actually see material changes and how much is wasted. Also, it didn't seem like any of the prints turned out to what would be considered good quality. Seems like there was an excuse for each issue. We all know it can take some dialing in a filament profile but should be able to get at least one type printing well. Left me very unimpressed with the performance of the machine.
I hope this little bit helps you in your journey of being awesome. I watch lots and lots of people on TH-cam, but you are by far one of my favorite. Thank you for the clarity, and the excellent production videos. I very much enjoy the entertainment and education
Hi, can you also do multi-color TPU prints with this? I am looking to print with the soft Recreus 82A filament, but the bambu lab AMS cannot handle TPU and it would be cool if this one could.
No filament changer can use normal TPU. The filament changer has to push the filament through the tube to the head - and TPU is to flexible to do that. Even the Prusa XL has problems with feeding TPU through the reverse bowden. However, after you got it in manualy, it works, as the XL is a multitool printer and the filament isn´t changed but the tool. But: There is always VarioShore, a filament wich shore hardnes changes after heating, depending of nozzle temperature. The filament on the spool is nearly as stiff as PET-G, so it might work with filament changers. By setting the nozzle temperature you can adjust the shore hardness. With this filament you can get incredibly soft TPU using higher temperatures - a filament having theese softness from the start would not be printable with any normal extruder. So you might search for some videos about VarioShore.
@@oleurgast730 Hi thank you so much for the answer to my comment. I had never heard of VarioShore and I am just looking it up. I will definitely test this one.
Was the benchy so bad you didn’t want to show it? I mean it’s the whole reason to print it and it was sliced at the factory with their best settings you would assume. All the comments concerning others slicing for you and profiles not ready etc at least that is by them. I want to like the printer but as a non review video, if it’s so bad you don’t want to own a review about it, I’m not interested in owning the printer. It all looks good until it doesn’t. Thanks for the video and hope to see another when it’s ready for prime time.
I can't review it until the slicer and profiles are ready... and even still, I wouldn't review it based on a 12 minute benchy. Also, I'm not doing reviews anymore, because they're lose-lose...
Sorry if I misheard, but did you say they were making it where you could add that ACE to other Anycubic printers? I am in the play area of McDonald's with my kid and the volume of the room exceeds the phone...lol Anyway, I am guessing a head replacement or something? I have a Kobra 2 Max and that would be wicked to print some behemoth full color toys/busts/robot parts...for my daughter of course...lol
Its an A1 clone (clearly) and the 8 color isn't out yet for it. Do note that the Bambu A1 does have an extra AMS port on its back, so it does look like they are planning on adding in support for a 2nd AMS Lite or support for two normal AMS systems.
I really liked your video and i want to get Kobra 3 as an update from my old mega S can you tell me if it noisy?? On my mega s i changed all the fans with noctua cause they were loud. I would have it run in more than 100-200mm/s even though it can go higher. Can you test its noise on a print in these speeds?
Dude it’s a GAME changer. My vorons all have lines all over the print from slathering on glue stick, but with this stuff, it’s imperceptible and it sticks like you wouldn’t believe e
Love the little filament icons to denote which filament is being used on screen, but would love if the color of the roll roughly matched the color of the filament, especially when there are multiple at once so you don’t have to pause it to read through them all and figure out which is the blue and which is the orange and which is the brown
I like the idea of combining a filament driver with an AMS like system. I have a single Bambu printer and am too used to the ease of printing Bambu offers. I don't see myself getting into another brand anytime soon.
Thanks for the review! my biggest complaint with AnyCubic is their lack of open source transparency and license violations. Maybe with the 3 series they will see the light.
Is there anyway you or anyone could ask Anycubic if they will be bring out a larger version of this printer? Because what I dont want todo is order this printer and then in a few days or weeks they bring out a larger one😡😡 I have tried emailing them with little response.....
If they can integrate the ACE with older printers, especially ender models, that will provide a much better value proposition. An open source multicolour unit with an orca slicer integration would be even better, as it could work with bambu...
I wasn't planning on doing one. Reviews aren't that successful on the channel

Thanks for the video, I am one of those who has made the leap into the void of buying this printer without knowing anything about it and currently there is a great lack of information about it :)
I like it but I have 2 deal breakers: I outright refuse to use their slicer. Tried it and hate it. It MUST be fully compatible with existing kobra 2 (both Marlin and klipper versions). Until both of those terms are met I can't consider this to be something I'd spend money on.
My Kobra 3 Combo arrived yesterday. But they didn't have a slicer for non-windows-users. Now I have to find a friend with a windows pc. 😭 I wrote anycubic about it and hope they'll release a profil in the next days
do the AMS style systems just recognize they are plugged in or how do the AMS and the printer communicate :) i have never had an AMS style printer and im looking at getting one at some point once bugs and stuff are fixed
I can't wait to have multicolor with the ace pro on my Anycubic Vyper. Hopefully it'll allow installation with klipper because I installed klipper. I also use that same gamestop camera for my printer 6:44!
75% humidity all year round? You must have at least one room with a dehumidifier, right? I don't print much with PETG anymore but I keep mine in vacuum bags with some desiccant. I keep my space below 40% humidity and between 26c-30c, never have any issues printing.
You are one of the reasons why I can't make my own videos. You are so GOOD at passing on information that it is scary. Your delivery is specially good. You are fast, concise and informative what else can you ask of a video. About this video the only thing missing was information about filament waste when printing multicolor, How does it compare to the Bambu Lab printers? Thanks for your work.
Try Elegoo Rapid PETG. I have been getting fantastic results with it, and I like you had a hate/hate relationship with it prior to this filament. Their Rapid PLA + is also awesome and they are pretty much all I use now, unless I need a silk. I am hoping they add some silks to the lineup eventually.
Totally honest, I am absolutely not interested in this printer. BUT I am interested in the MMU thing. That would be awesome if it would work with other printers. I don't really want to build something like the ECRF for my voron and also having a filament dryer built in seems nice
Thanks gave me a bit more insight into which 3d printer to buy its between this Anycubic Kobra 3 and a Bambu PS1 The only thing which puts me off is the software for anycubic
Looks interesting and results are fine, but I'm a bit disappointed that I don't know how it works after watching the video. Does it poop and/or require purge tower and how much waste it generates?
What about the poop? Looks like the poop wiper is on the right side over the screen. Is there a poop bin adapter stl for it? Looks like the poop could get on the bed and get in the way of the print.
Ordered mine during the live stream event. Can’t wait for it to arrive. Thanks for showing some of the pre release stuff, not many videos out yet showing this printer working.
Yeah, but honestly, that's become common practice in the tech industry these days. Hardware is done, they start marketing and shipping, and fix the software while it's en route. I don't like it any more than you do, but everyone from Tesla to Rabbit are doing it... heck, even Apple is shipping the Vision Pro with like, only a handful of apps in the app store that actually work on it.
@@thenextlayerI can understand but that doesn't mean that I will accept it. A lot of people here in Greece are smokers. That doesn't mean that I will start to smoke because it is acceptable and common to do. I don't look what others do and I don't care. This is wrong and should be criticized despite the fact that it is common. I still remember the days without early access to video games where I would buy one and it would be in an almost perfect state. Now even 3d printers have early access! I believe as a TH-camr/influencer you should have done a better job talking about this fact. My dislike that I pressed was because of this. I don't say you are the only one that does this and please don't take it personal. Sanladerer did it as well with the peopoly 3d printer.
I appreciate that you say this is not a review but most people watching this are going to look at this video and see all the errors and form an initial opinion of this printer, RFID spools would have solved the temperature errors! if Anycubic wants to compete with Bambu Lab they needed to send out a finished machine for people to form an opinion on, the purging of the waste filament needs to be something better than flicking it, are users meant to sit by the machine catching filament purges whilst their part prints? of course, there will be a multitude of bins available to print for the waste purge but I can see them having ridiculously large back planes to stop flicked filament flying in semi random directions. I know that heat + magnets and magnetic fields are not a good combination and so I am curious how well the filament changers motors will stand up to the heat from the drying process. So far Im not impressed by this machine, no matter how much cheaper it is than a Bambu Lab printer.
How on Earth does any reviewer of multi color prints not show the purge system and waste it generates compared to other brands? Also, I will always be skeptical of any reviewer who is paid by the manufacturer of the product shown in the video. Yeah yeah i know "my opinions are my own" but really...if you are getting paid and want to get paid and sent products in the future, are you really going to be that critical? And those prints don't look all that great either.
Ya seriously, I know this isn’t a fair assessment but when your spending ≈$1000 another $160 probably isn’t the end of the world for a dedicated appliance
@@yinzerinsteelersnation4695 I am designing my own filament drier right now actually, it's such an easy thing to make, abstractly, all you need is a heater and a mosfet, but I assume the reason Bambu did not do this is that AC Is dangerous and a pai. DC would mean needing a beefier power supply. Still, you can make a great one even with a 50w element. Mine is 100w for a big food container much bigger than the AMS
Please make a part 2 of this where you review the machine again with everything optimized and more importantly where you review the drawing capabilities of the material system and the amount of poop compared to other similar devices
You had me at 'print resume' working properly...electrical power is not 100% where I live! We get 2-10 second outages on most week-days...my apartment is on the same substation as an industrial park...so we get power fluctuations during the work-day with the occasional drop-out. I almost got the Kobra 3, decided I didn't need multicolor....went with the kobra 2 pro instead. Crazy-fast printing, I had to put a paving-stone on the table to stop it from shaking!
Yes I have a 1800watt UPS and it keeps my printer going for about 1-2hours when I have a powercut... Plus I have a generator, so if the power is out over a longer period I just need to get the generator started you before the batteries die.
"I couldn't tell where the pause was" - they're right there on the end of his feet! :-D . I would love to trick out my Anycubic Kobra Neo 2 with an ACE unit...
It would be realy nice if they would make the ACE unit available for 3rd party printers. Unlike ERCF, MMU2 etc. the ACE (and the AMS) actually have their feeders permanently engaged, as they sychronice the AMS/ACE feeder to the extruder (I disassembled the AMS-"buffer", turns out it uses a slider, a spring, a magnet and a hall-effect sensor). On the A1(lite) this actually is on the top. I am sure the Kobra 3 uses the same method. So it would be realy nice if it could be connected to klipper. Or even a Prusa mk4. If you have a printer with integrated nozzle/heatbreak combo and "normal flow" (like Revo, Nextruder and TUN), you get nice filament tip on unload, no need for cut&poo. This reduces not only waste but also changing times. So a printer with standard flow integrated nozzle/heatbreak combo do not need cut&poo. However, a MMU3, ERCF etc. is much harder to set up and can fail if the filament spools are not optimal placed. So combining the ACE/AMS with it´s easy filament handling with a printer with reliable unload ramping procedure and easy to change nozzle (insert high-flow nozzle for single-colour and standard-flow for multicolour) would be best of both worlds. For me personally, I would like to use the ACE with a Qidi X-Max3. That printer has a heated chamber, and I would realy like multicolour parts in ABS. Also of course the Sovol 08 might be a candidate. With the Revo coldend presented in another video, it should be able to change filaments without cut&poo if using a standard revo nozzle, while printing fast with high-flow revo. Combine this with a toolchanger (high flow nozzle for main colour in tool0, standard-flow nozzle in tool 1 with ACE connected, TPU in tool2 and support material in tool3) and the posibilitys are endless.
I don’t think these any of these prints look very good tbh….I know you were trying to be as polite as can be while still honoring your AnyCubic deal, but your words as a content creator mean something and somebody might pick this printer up based on your “review”. At some point you sell your soul for a few bucks. This does not look review ready at all…
Thought I was the being gaslit into thinking this is how all 3D prints look like though I’m pretty sure my Ender 3 Pro from like 4 years ago looked better before it died.
Now if they make the head and multicolor swappable to say the 2max... that would be awesome I'd buy it to upgrade my max. Bulk multicolor cuts down.on waste
Worked great until it broke after a week...the advertised anti-clog detection system didn't shut it down when it got clogged up so the printer kept shoving filament into the print head assembly, freezing it to the track so that we couldn't disassemble it to clean it out. Returned it for a refund.
For me this review kinda ruined your reputation, which is very sad to see. It was clearly rushed, important details (like amount of poop, filament swap times, etc.) are missed (intentionally?), actually terrible quality presented as "nice"... Everyone will make a very reasonable assumptions why so much balls were dropped...
I really love your channel but I have to say this seemed like you REALLY wanted to like this printer and made every excuse for it. Every time it did something bad. You blamed something other than the printer. Your room, or the filament or the rotation of the earth. I really think you should think twice about doing a review of a product in the same video that the manufacturer is sponsoring. It’s one thing to accept a free printer it’s another thing entirely to review it when they are sponsoring the video. Please keep your integrity and do better in the future.
I felt the same way... even though it clearly said it is sponsored, it got me confused with his enthusiastic response to a bad print and for a moment there it felt like a review. I click to the thumbnail hoping his opinion will help me decide to buy this machine but now I am hesitant until I see a proper review. No hate here as I love his content so far, just hope it will improve on the future on how sponsors videos are set.
Can't call it prints like crap when it is a paid video right ? What about this new trend of selling and releasing then fixing things up ? Make it at least print nice then sell it ...

0.2, and yeah, as I mentioned, Profiles are far from dialed in
@@thenextlayer thanks for the response. 😁
I just need help on how to actually get the files with color to print, whenever I go to print them it only let's me do 1 color
How is it gorgeous when you can see clear layer lines all over the print?
I bet there are plenty of people waiting for a Kobra 3 Max!
Hadn't thought of that, but yeah, that would be awesome.
Kobra 3 Plus will come soon then maybe a Kobra 3 Max.
please answer the question
"This printer can print ABS and other abrasive materials when you don't want to print in color, that is, directly from the spool to the extruder without the ACE PRO.
Does the MMU share the same concern with the AMS in regards to cardboard spools degrading over time?
I think any cardboard spool rolling that much back and forth will degrade in any system that uses the edge
AnyCubic said during the live stream that cardboard spools are totally acceptable in their MMU.
Well, I don't have the final profiles, so it's hard to say, but, hardware-wise, it should be able to keep up with that.
No, copy is copy, Bambu the best.
@@thenextlayer Thank you for the quick answer
@@thorstenarndt7585 Bambu is on offer from tomorrow so no need to think about it now
I live in a very DRY environment, and from back in my PRUSA days, I always hated PETG.
Hard to beat the best.
i didn't even found the win version of their new slicer😥
Thanks for the video, but it really left me wanting to know way more than you really went over. Being multi material, I have liked to actually see material changes and how much is wasted. Also, it didn't seem like any of the prints turned out to what would be considered good quality. Seems like there was an excuse for each issue. We all know it can take some dialing in a filament profile but should be able to get at least one type printing well. Left me very unimpressed with the performance of the machine.
Yeah that was an oversight. And yeah, this machine (software wise) wasn’t ready for a proper review, hence the first look. Sorry to disappoint!
This is the video I’ve been needing! I’m wondering if this is better than a bambu A1, and this vid has helped loads on forming my opinion
I don't have an A1, so fortunately, I don't have to navigate the potential bias of recommending a sponsor's product vs. another product... heh!
@@thenextlayer That’s always a good thing in my experience!
I hope this little bit helps you in your journey of being awesome. I watch lots and lots of people on TH-cam, but you are by far one of my favorite. Thank you for the clarity, and the excellent production videos. I very much enjoy the entertainment and education
WHOA! Thank you SO MUCH for your generosity! I'm blown away by it, and by your kind words! Wow.
Should I regret spending 2k aud on the x1 carbon over this which also has levelling and multi colour and speed?
If i was ever considering buying one of these I certainly wouldn't now!! that print quality is shocking!!
You heard him correctly! Can't wait to add one to my k2p!
Not just other Anycubic printers......Other brands as well
Merhaba flament kullanımı nasıl? Bambu gibi çok atık filament çıkartıyor mu
I just hope that they let the ACE work with the Kobra 2 Max.
My exact thoughts ! I can’t wait to see the retrofit kit to upgrade my K2 Max ! Can you imagine doing a 8 color print on that monster ?
Its an A1 clone (clearly) and the 8 color isn't out yet for it. Do note that the Bambu A1 does have an extra AMS port on its back, so it does look like they are planning on adding in support for a 2nd AMS Lite or support for two normal AMS systems.
Lazy question - does this support the Kobra 2 Max? I imagine not. :/
I have LOTS of trouble with ASA, will try Magigo. I use 3DLAC but needs to be applied every time.
They won't announce that during pre-order as it would hurt sales.
there are no issues with prints when you use standard mode.
I guess my Anycubic Vyper will be too old to get support for the ACE but if not I definitely will buy an ACE unit
At the moment getting the combo is way cheaper than buying the two parts separately.
If they can integrate the ACE with older printers, especially ender models, that will provide a much better value proposition. An open source multicolour unit with an orca slicer integration would be even better, as it could work with bambu...
does it run klipper?
Its probably locked down klipper, so you can't do anything on the firmware side. The kobra2 pro and max are the same way.
did they release it in orca slicer?
I hope the ACE will work with Klipper eventually
When will u have the full review when it goes to retail?
I wasn't planning on doing one. Reviews aren't that successful on the channel
Thanks for the video, I am one of those who has made the leap into the void of buying this printer without knowing anything about it and currently there is a great lack of information about it :)
I like it but I have 2 deal breakers: I outright refuse to use their slicer. Tried it and hate it. It MUST be fully compatible with existing kobra 2 (both Marlin and klipper versions). Until both of those terms are met I can't consider this to be something I'd spend money on.
I agree, they promised me it’ll be 1000% compatible with orca and Prusa so that’s good
Please do another video when the software is better and sliceing profiles a dialed in. Super interesting printer combo and I want to see more on it
My Kobra 3 Combo arrived yesterday.
But they didn't have a slicer for non-windows-users.
Now I have to find a friend with a windows pc. 😭
I wrote anycubic about it and hope they'll release a profil in the next days
They’ll release orca profiles soon
do the AMS style systems just recognize they are plugged in or how do the AMS and the printer communicate :) i have never had an AMS style printer and im looking at getting one at some point once bugs and stuff are fixed
They're plugged in and communicate
I can't wait to have multicolor with the ace pro on my Anycubic Vyper. Hopefully it'll allow installation with klipper because I installed klipper. I also use that same gamestop camera for my printer 6:44!
Would you recommend this over bambu labs a1?
Haven’t tried the A1, and it’s hard to say honestly until the profiles are ready and perfected
This is nowhere near the quality and precision printing of bamboo printers
Is this printer actually better than the Bambu A1?
No.
I'll try to get my hands on some!
Yeah I can’t believe I forgot that…. Seemed obvious to me but it isn’t. It poops out the right side and flings it. Also a prime tower!
@@thenextlayer Thanks for clarification. I thought it's like that but haven't seen any confirmation before.
Wait, I thought the ACE had RFID? Why did it let you print PLA with a PETG job?
Only their brand has rfid chip on the spool, other brands need to specify manually.
What about the poop? Looks like the poop wiper is on the right side over the screen. Is there a poop bin adapter stl for it? Looks like the poop could get on the bed and get in the way of the print.
Poops out the right, yep. Sorry I forgot to include that. You can print a poop bin.
The multicolor unit for any printer would be amazing
Between A1 and Kobra , which one do you prefer guys?
A1
A1
Ordered mine during the live stream event. Can’t wait for it to arrive. Thanks for showing some of the pre release stuff, not many videos out yet showing this printer working.
No sweat, hope you like it.
So by what you have told us, they are selling something that is not ready yet to be shipped. I wonder what the shipping date of this thing.
Do you have to use their dedicated slicer or can i use Prusaslicer?
They’re adding Prusa and orca support
@@thenextlayer so no?
Babu Labs just shoot out poop, have you complained to them about unfinished printers?
9:36 I cant take you serious if you call this a good print. 🤣
I literally said multiple times that this is not a review. It’s a sponsored video.
The fact that this is a filament drier is amazing, I was always bummed my AMS can't do that. Specially for the price
Crazy-fast printing, I had to put a paving-stone on the table to stop it from shaking!
get a UPS. print resume leaves a line so now you have an ugly print and wasted filament
Yes I have a 1800watt UPS and it keeps my printer going for about 1-2hours when I have a powercut... Plus I have a generator, so if the power is out over a longer period I just need to get the generator started you before the batteries die.
the "filament dryer" is a nice addition to any klipper 3d printer for multicolor?
This does not look review ready at all…
Pretty poor quality prints imo also. Poor z height ?
Thought I was the being gaslit into thinking this is how all 3D prints look like though I’m pretty sure my Ender 3 Pro from like 4 years ago looked better before it died.

Yeah, I need to reprint it.
Can you talk about the software? I've found it's both awful and not available on the Mac.
Worked great until it broke after a week...the advertised anti-clog detection system didn't shut it down when it got clogged up so the printer kept shoving filament into the print head assembly, freezing it to the track so that we couldn't disassemble it to clean it out. Returned it for a refund.
Dang. Sorry to hear that. Yeah, it’s not polished yet but I hope software updates will fix that
Love your videos, waiting for mine to come in
dont wanna hate but 99% of printers can print ASA and ABS in way you printed it. Taller models would be problem thou.
finally someone how shows some multicolor prints!
This is what I’ve been looking for
But not while it's printing... I don't see the multi filament system or purge process anywhere in this video

He repeatedly specified that this wasn’t a review during the video.
NOT a review, as I stated repeatedly. AnyCubic sponsored this video so I could show it off. I believe I made that very clear.

He's not going to review it because he took the $$$$. Even if he did I am sure it would be 9/10 !! Always follow the money!
