Thanks! I don't know why I never thought of merely squishing the coil in my vise...another "doh!" moment from a senior in Canada!!

Thank you Nancy! I've been wondering how I was going to afford a miter jig. Those little suckers are expensive! Problem solved! Great tip on oval jumprings also. Praying for all of you out there where the fires are burning! Stay safe!

Nancy, she could also use a cheap pair of parallel pliers- easier for the sheet. Harbour freight has cheapie cheap stuff and pliers. For the wire, she could sacrifice a cheap pair of flat nose pliers and drill holes along the side edges to fit her wire- also could have that whole contraption clamped into cheap Home depot/Lowes bench vise. And (!), she could buy a couple small pieces of square sheet from a Home Depot and clamp them together on either side of her jewelry metal into a vise and then file to true. Just thinking..... LOVE the new studio!!! NOt quite so bohemian (heh heh, is that what its called?)

I used different sizes of straws and passed through them thin wooden skewers and made mandrels for my oval jump rings.
For example a normal thin straw takes two bamboo skewers and it is like a 4mm long oval. Hope this helps at least for small amounts of jump rings

Thank you for the cool tips. While searching for your wire twisting video I’m finding things I somehow missed. How?? By the way, that is a groovy necklace, but that ring, have you talked about that crazy ring anywhere? Love it.

This information is fabulous, but the camera constantly going out of focus makes it difficult to watch.
Thank you for the video though

Why dont you just make oval jumprings by wrapping wire around a square rod instead of round...?
